Ari,
Are you the one doing auditions? I will be down there on thursday for an interview.... I don't know if they are doing auditions that day or not.

Ari,

I was just checking out the Parx website - and not one word about live poker opening up soon is on there! Nothing points to where the poker room will be (or the fact that other table games will be located in the same building.)

No promotion info at all!

You might want to let whoever is in charge of the site know about what's happening, so that the word gets out more. Or is Parx waiting for something (what?) to happen before making official announcements?

When the slots first opened drinks were free but they had very few of the Parx girls to serve them.My guess is they will not offer drinks at first and if they have a full room without them then that's how it will be.Free drinks and tipsy poker players does not benefit profits for casino. You may argue that alcohol may slightly improve a raked game but the headache of dealing with drunk players greatly outweighs what ever small profits that may or may not incur. Now table games where I hear the drinks flow freely is viewed as +EV for the casino for obvious reasons.

Ari,
What's ur plans with higher stakes NL being played at parx? Will you have sectioned off tables for 10/25nl+? Do parx have plans to promote big games?

Hi Andrew,

Once we expand we will definitely have a sectioned off high-limited area. In the mean time, we will offer those stakes if the demand is there.

Thanks

Ari

I would love to attend the preview if I can make it down there. Although, it would probably be the most -ev games ever with all the 2+2ers.

Would love to see some pictures of the progress if you have any, Ari.

Go north up Route 1, right on Street Road, and it's about a mile or so down on the left. I never really measured the distance, but it isn't far.

Just south of I-276.

If you're near I-95, you can take that to exit 37, which is Street Road heading west. Stay on Street Road for 2.5 miles and it's on your right.

This sounds terrific! Probably will avoid opening day because I don't want to deal with crowds, but I'll probably go the ensuing Saturday morning.

Is the potential 2+2 preview going to allow actual gambling and/or be the PGCB test period, or just the ability to see the room? Either way if I'm not busy I would be in for that.

Ari,

Forgive me if you have already answered this question, but do you plan on having daily tounaments in the near future, perhaps after you add more tables. Looking forward to this room so bad, it's 12 minutes from my house.

If you guys do better than Chester, I will be there every day.....

Took a trip over to Parx to check out the poker room just a couple of hours ago. I hadn't been there in over two years, so I wasn't even aware that they had built a brand new casino. I remember the actual casino being housed in the old building, when it was called Philadelphia Park Casino. The old building is now called "Parx East."

Anyway, I took the stairs up to the third floor, and took a few snapshots of the new room. They are still very much in the process of building it and pulling things together. Honestly I don't know how they're going to get it done by November 3rd, but a couple of workers on the first floor said that the people upstairs are being given "incentives" to get it done quickly, and that they've been working on it round the clock.

My first impression is that this is going to be an awesome room. As has been stated in this thread, there's a snack bar right around the corner from the room, the restrooms are right there, there is definitely no smoking up there, there are lots of TV's, and there is PLENTY of space. The pictures below don't really demonstrate how much space there actually is in there.

On a side note, I didn't have a player's card, so I figured that while I was there I might as well get one to save me the effort later. They are not currently distributing player's cards in the old building, but the workers downstairs said that they probably will once the poker room opens. So I walked over to the casino (there's nothing connecting Parx East with the casino, so you need to go outside), and got a player's card. Because I have a Borgata card (any other Atlantic City or Pennsylvania casino card will do), I got $25 in free slot dollars. People with higher-up cards can get $75 or $150. Anyway, I put it in a $1 slot machine, gave it a few spins, and I ran it up to $97. Not willing to chance things anymore I just cashed out. Hopefully this is a sign of good fortune to come in the poker room there

We plan on having tournaments after our expansion towards the end of the year.

Man it will be frustrating if the opening is delayed yet again. Thanks for the update.

But seriously, it would have been easier for you to just type "Parx" into google.

Thanks for the trip report and pictures, the room looks great! I guess one benefit of being forced to open with fewer tables is that there will be tons of space between tables, for now.
