Took a trip over to Parx to check out the poker room just a couple of hours ago. I hadn't been there in over two years, so I wasn't even aware that they had built a brand new casino. I remember the actual casino being housed in the old building, when it was called Philadelphia Park Casino. The old building is now called "Parx East."
Anyway, I took the stairs up to the third floor, and took a few snapshots of the new room. They are still very much in the process of building it and pulling things together. Honestly I don't know how they're going to get it done by November 3rd, but a couple of workers on the first floor said that the people upstairs are being given "incentives" to get it done quickly, and that they've been working on it round the clock.
My first impression is that this is going to be an awesome room. As has been stated in this thread, there's a snack bar right around the corner from the room, the restrooms are right there, there is definitely no smoking up there, there are lots of TV's, and there is PLENTY of space. The pictures below don't really demonstrate how much space there actually is in there.
On a side note, I didn't have a player's card, so I figured that while I was there I might as well get one to save me the effort later. They are not currently distributing player's cards in the old building, but the workers downstairs said that they probably will once the poker room opens. So I walked over to the casino (there's nothing connecting Parx East with the casino, so you need to go outside), and got a player's card. Because I have a Borgata card (any other Atlantic City or Pennsylvania casino card will do), I got $25 in free slot dollars. People with higher-up cards can get $75 or $150. Anyway, I put it in a $1 slot machine, gave it a few spins, and I ran it up to $97. Not willing to chance things anymore I just cashed out. Hopefully this is a sign of good fortune to come in the poker room there
