Same.

The new comp policy sucks, but is a business decision I guess.

Changing the old comp policy with basically no notice is unforgivable. What a ****ty thing to do. I don't even care too much about the actual money involved, since they made it so difficult to even spend the comps now anyway.

But I do hate being lied to, and getting robbed in the dead of night. The thing I loved about this place was how they treated their customers. I guess things change.

Will I come here less? Probably not. But I certainly won't come more.

Honeymoon's over, I guess.

I am sure this was visited maybe in earlier posts but I could use some help here. I have played at Parx about 5 times and every time I played poker only. All 5 times I gave my card to dealer right when I sat down. Probably logged on a total of 40 hours from the 5 visits. Last time I went there, I gave my card to a woman at a customer service desk and asked how many comps I accrued from the playing I did and this was right after a 9 hour session. She looked up my card and said I had zero comps, I asked how that could be and she said I needed to see a poker room floor person when I was done playing each session to get credit??? How exactly does that work? I gave card to dealer at beginning of each session, played straight thru and need to check with floor person each time? Sorry if this question has been exhausted on previous posts but I never heard of something so dumb.

Wow, that's really crappy. Glad I didn't let them pile up. Sorry for anyone that did.

You can go up to a kiosk and check your total balance. Then you have to go to the front desk and give them a specific amount for them to activate on your card, you then have 24 hours to use the amount that has been put on your card before it disappears.

About 3 weeks ago, I took my friends out to dinner to try and use up my 90ish comp dollars that I had stacked up. The waitress informed me I had zero dollars in the account, which confused me, but I didn't see the point in starting any trouble so we just paid the bill and left.

I didn't know you had to go to the poker room to activate the comp dollars before using them. My bad but I'll use them eventually so whatever right?

Bad decision =(

It's not even about the money, but rather, the spirit of the rule. Talk about sacrificing client happiness for profit...

This is likely above Ari's head even though he is now the head of all of Parx East. If anyone talks to him or Brandon report back to us in this thread. Awful news here and I've gone to the steakhouse multiple times last year to keep it from piling up too much. Guess I'll go once a week now.

If this happened without Aris knowledge he should probably look for another job. That would be a real slap in the face to surprise him with this IMO

Or since they read/post regularly, they could just explain it here themselves why the policy got changed and why no notice was given.

Location and promotions doesn't care b/c they know they have the best poker room in PA. This is why I burned my comps before the new year b/c some big wig in marketing met with the board and accounting decided it wasn't conducive to their annual bottom line.

How often does PLO go off here? Either 2-5PLO or higher or 1-2 PLO at least $500 buy in.

As long as I can get crappy tasting, cold Chinese food at 2am weeknights for free I'm happy. What else can I ask for?
Also, I can use comps for cigarettes (I don't smoke). And sell to smokers for cash. Booya!

Let's block their tables!

But comps? srsly? enjoy my $400 guys. Let me know if you'll decide to confiscate money in lock boxes.
I mean it's supedbad for business to give something and then take it back. Much worse than not to give it first time.

For some reason this just reminded me of a question I've had for a while...

Does anyone know what happens to my safety deposit box if I were to die tomorrow? I don't remember listing anyone else's name on the form as a beneficiary or whatever...

Still waiting for Ari to chime in on this one, I had at least $600 in comps on my card. It sure would have made this whole thing nicer if we had some kind of heads up that we needed to use em or lose em... Pretty shady if you ask me. I don't understand what they had to gain by doing this, they had to know it was going to piss ALOT of people off, and when your in a service industry that is never a good thing.

I mean honestly, How much effort would it have taken to send out a mailer letting everyone know that they were going to make this change, they could have even coupled it with the promo about the WPT in Feb and killed 2 birds w/ 1 stone.

I am not a lawyer nor do I play one on tv, but is it even legal for them to take away the comps without notice? Its one thing to change policy going forward but another to take away previously earned comps.

Imagine an airline did this with no warning and just took away peoples old ff miles. I could only imagine what kind of class action suit that might spark.

Between becoming very strict about using cell phones at the table (I agree with when you have cards in front of you but if u don't that's absurd) to now an absolutely insane comp system, parx is quickly becoming unfavorable to it's poker playing customers. I only live 10 minutes from parx and have never been to Chester's room because it's 45 minutes away. But I might as well drive the extra time to get worthwhile comps. The parx system was already bad with having to load them on your card but this change an theft of comps is unacceptable!

It's clearly spelled out on the form you had to sign. Of course, I can't find mine right now either, so someone else should probably dig it up.

in case no one else does, here is my best recollection, take it for what it's worth: If you don't use the box for at least one month (maybe it was slightly longer, but around this length), they have the right to take the contents. I'm not sure if they have to put the contents in the "unclaimed money" drawer for a time or not, but eventually (if not immediately) they can just claim the contents for themselves.

Create a will. Put instructions for getting your money out of your box in the will.

Parx stole well over $500,000.00 in comp dollars from its customers. This is a total travesty. The people that run this place didnt like the fact that such liability built up through comp dollars. (not that they cant easily afford to honor them.) Emptying our comp accounts with no warning was completely intentional and nothing less than theft. Do not play here until they rectify this wrong. Either by returning our comps and giving us until Mar. 1st to use them or offering a freeroll equal to the amount of comp dollars they stole. How hard would of it have been to put a sign in the poker room a month in advance letting us know comps expire Jan. 1st. This is completely F'ed up. Go play at Harrahs Chester, play in home games,
Boycott Parx WPT events. Show this place no loyalty at all. Make parx the last place you consider playing poker from now on.

[QUOTE=FiftyOuts;30707208]I just called and spoke to a floor person and confirmed that Parx have started a 60 day rolling policy with the comps. Any comps earned earlier than 60 days are expired. They did not give any warning about this or at least not to my knowledge...<snip>

OMG, that is simply DISGUSTING. I will be going to Harrah's Chester much more due solely to this revolting corporate decision. I'm no big fan of HC mgmt, believe me, but wow, taking away the measly crumbs Parx gave us.. YUCK.

Hello, PARX Sr. Mgmt:
If you want to change the comp system going forward, go ahead. But don't just steal the comps we accrued. Good lord, WTF?

I'm sure the Sr. mgmt humps could care less if they lose some of my business, but that's about the only means of protest i have available. I suggest everyone do the same and play more elsewhere whenever possible unless they do something about this outright theft of accrued comps. And pls let PARX mgmt know that you plan to do this due to their complete disrespect for us.

Nothing stays good for long these days. Once a guy like Ari builds up a good room the proper way, the worthless suits move in and figure out a way to squeeze. You know 10% of that comp money went right into the pocket of the decision maker in the form of a year-end bonus. Classy.

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

This is pretty much how I feel.

I'm sure it wasn't poker managements decision to steal comp $$ but I (most of us) only play poker so that's where it stings and where the anger is directed.

Kinds sucks. I was enjoying playing at PARX instead of driving the extra ~70 mins to Borgata.

Really a big fan of the room and the staff/management. I'm hoping this isn't the first in a line of multiple changes.

I saw someone say "The honeymoon is over". That pretty much sums it up perfectly.

It's the players that make a poker room money. If we are not happy the best way to express this is to hurt them in their pockets.
A one week boycott will let them know this is not acceptable.
Option 2 is to bend over and keep drinking the kool-aid on how this is the best room on the east coast.Would a top quality room do this to their regs since they most likely amassed the most comp dollars.

Just another expression of how horrible this is. I would have been happy to enjoy blowing through my comps at the restaurants if I knew they were going to expire. Not telling the players is a disgusting and unfathomable decision. So bad, that I'm inclined to think that this might be a computer issue? Maybe they planned to initiate the 60-day rule and didn't realize it would erase our older comps????????????????

Man, I was planning to head to Parx tonight and now I just feel gross about it.

We play $5 single blind PLO every Wednesday and Friday, the buy in structure is 200-500. It usually starts by 7pm, sometimes earlier. It runs other days as well but thats harder to predict. Definitely on Wednesdays and Fridays though.
