Does the 1/3 PLO game go off anymore ? or has it been replaced by the $5 single blind game

The latter. 5-0 plays much smoother and cleaner at about the same stakes that 1-3 was playing at. Its a great game hope to see you on Wednesday or Friday next week!

I can safely assume that it's a red chip game which I would think makes things easier, I just dont like to buy in for more than $300 and I don't feel like I would have enough room to play my game.... what's the average stack that people are buying in for > I would only feel comfortable if there was not a table full of $500 stacks

Also this would be my 1st time playing PLO live, how much time is spent by the dealer counting the pot when someone pots it on every street. Is the pot kept a little more organized to facilitate this rather than just a messy pile of chips like in NL ?

Hope I can make it out this Friday ....

Yes, its a Red Chip game.

About half the table buys the max and half doesn't. 300 is fine to start out with.

Most of the Parx dealers are very good at keeping track of the pot and the game runs very smooth. A lot of the regs know the pot most of the time, and rather than just calling pot will announce the bet. Sometimes there is a disagreement but that's the exception not the rule.

An easy shortcut for calculating the pot is 3x the bet you are facing + the trail.

Another good one is if someone pots it for x, and another person re-pots it, the bet is now 4x. If it goes pot, cal re-pot its 5x, ect.

Hope you can come this Friday too! Should be good since most people won't play over the Christmas weekend I think a lot will play on Friday.

Can someone give me an idea of how many runners the weekday tournaments have been getting? Are the still drawing 150+? Thanks for the help.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

Ari,

Played 10/10NL last night, and was disappointed in two things:

1) One of your dealers was openly discussing what one of the regular (donators) had lost during a prior session. I got the impression he was comfortable talking about everyone's up and downswings as a matter of general conversation. Several of your dealers were giving running commentaries during hands and making general out-of-bounds comments.

It is bad when players do these things, but absolutely unacceptable when dealers do.

I actually love chatty, friendly dealers. Just please ask them to talk about anything other than poker, and ESPECIALLY not to talk about how much the donators are up/down from a prior session. None of the new players like to feel like they're outsiders coming into a home game, and none of them want their fortunes discussed by the dealers after they've picked up.

2) We lost a player when he couldn't get chips. He asked the dealer, who called for chips, and then got up to walk to the cage. During this walk, as sometimes happens, he just decided to keep on walking. It was a factor in the must move 10/10 game breaking early.

At both the Borg and Parx, this is a frequent phenomenon: forcing players to do the "walk of shame" and subsequently losing them altogether from the game. Why can't we get California-style chip runners?

This never happens at the Borgata, they sell out of the box. It's one of the reasons I prefer the game there. People add-on a lot when they are steaming and it's great for the game. Not sure if this is a PA gaming thing or a Parx thing, but it's shocking it hasn't been changed yet. Whenever it's discussed it doesn't seem like there has even been any thought put into changing it.

Yes it can be annoying, thats why most regs should carry extra chips in pocket, for quick sell-offs

That's not always true, especially in the bigger games or if the rack is light.

Second, having the dealer sell chips, calling the floor over to verify drops, and the constant fills all slow down the game.

Cali has this one right. Hold a fistful of money in the air, and you are seconds away from chips on the table. I just wonder why PA and NJ don't get this right.

In regards to $5/$10 at the Borgata (which is the game at hand), I have never seen someone unable to rebuy or add on out of the box at any time in 100+ hours in the last two months.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

I agree, the chip/reload situation has been a problem since the room opened. I always have chips in my pocket as a workaround. I don't mind doing it, but it shouldn't have to be that way.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, let the players play from behind. I know its possible, cause it was done when the room first opened, but they changed the rule when there were issues. Well the room has been open a year now and it runs well, its time to implement this rule again.

Its very simple in operation. Player tells the dealer how much he wants to buy, dealer announces player is X behind, and the chips are in play. This works well at Delaware Park, every room in Vegas I've ever played it, and from what I've heard in CA too. There is no reason it can't be done at Parx as well.

I have many times in the same game. Sometimes, they even have a chip "runner" (chip crawler?) with a push cart. Maybe I just run bad.

I do agree that at the borgata, the problem is lessened, but replaced by the other issue of slowing down the game by turning the dealer into a cashier.

I think both the room and players lose out when anything disrupts smooth game flow. Players busting out or adding on should be easy to keep in action. . . .

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

So Parx has implemented a new "no cell phone at the table" rule.

I have played in many casinos and this is a first for me. Sure there are rules against using your phone while in a hand or have cards in front of you, that I understand completely.

But if they think I am going to sit there in a 5 minute hand with my hands clapped together they must be smoking some sort of illegal drug.

I'm def waiting to get kicked out for texting while other people are in a hand, we'll see...

Not being enforced as far as I can tell.

I like the rule in principle. Last night I saw it enforced a few times.

I don't think anyone should be looking at a cell phone screen during a hand. Before cards are dealt, or after you've folded, I could care less.

Not a fan of the cell phone ban.... Totally going against the grain. They are only being used more and more and that ain't gonna change.. Silly to think it would. I've been playing Parx for almost a year and haven't noticed too many problems with phones, certainly nothing to cause a rule change.. I can see instructing dealers to not deal in a player actively talking on the phone but anything more is not necessary

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

I've seen guys texting back and forth at the same table, but I admit it was more of a problem when the room was newer.

I also have heard guys talking about the ethics of using poker software during a hand.

When players were not in the hand, I didn't see any of the dealers bugging them if they were looking at their phones. That seems reasonable. But if you have cards in front of you, I have no issue with the room asking you to put your cell phone away.
