The racetrack building is now smoke free since the slots moved to the new and yes makes your eyes burn building. It still boggles my mind that with all the information available that 20% of the population(and in Bucks County that # is waay higher) still smoke. The Mullet is still a popular haircut there.Smoking is minus EV and only just steals from you.Steals your $ your looks your breath your perception by others and yes your life. The casino people draw from alot of people who are losers in life and to go non-smoking would limit their customer base.

They don't even have to go non-smoking for me. But when you completely surround the non-smoking section with the smoking section it pretty much turns the entire place to a smoke endorsed casino.

Yap, and contrary to popular opinion, PA casinos operate and have the same ups, downs, good things and drawbacks as every other casino that operates in the country.

Let's get back to PA Poker rooms, and how they are going to spread 30/60 limit and when is the 25/50 NL going to run?

Correct, and the point still being that the information he posted is relevant in relation to the locale being described and its deviance from the norm.

Won't have it initially. It's coming, part of Phase II, III, XII, or whatever.

Oh, and Philadelphia has an indoor smoking ban. Sugarhouse won't have smoking unless somebody slipped a casino exemption in there.

Aye I figured eventually, but there is nothing information wise out there about Sugarhouse while it seems all the other rooms had a buzz or at least gossip floating around.

That just isn't right either.

Whatever, that is the way it is. If you can't stand smoke, don't go to a casino.
How about changing the casinos to being non-smoking venues? That way the employees will be healthier, the players will be healthier, and those of us who can't stand tobacco smoke can play in comfort?

Set up smoking rooms, with seperate ventilation, so that smokers can take breaks in them. The rest of us can breath clean air that way!

Harrah's Chester is smoke free inside. Still sucks when sitting next to a smoker, but I can put up with it a lot better than I could if he was chain smoking in my face.

How about if you can't go an hour without a cigarette, you stay out of the casino.

Anyone hear anything on the poker room yet? When I was there on Labor Day I couldn't get any answers.

Last time I was at Chester, they had both smoking and non-smoking areas. Has this changed?

Oh, and for those who think PA is the only place in the universe with poker rooms, the great majority of poker rooms in the entire country are non-smoking, and the majority of the casinos allow smoking (still unclear if the one's that are going to open in Ohio will have to abide by the non-smoking State Law).

Notice I said majority in the paragraph above. I realize there is a two table room in lower nowhere close to Timbuktu where the poker room is smoking, and there are casinos (usually due to State Law or City Ordinance) that comply, like every other public place in the jurisdiction, to not allow smoking.

So until you go to a casino that resides in a region where any smoking is completely banned by law, and has not managed to fight for an exemption to the law, expect to find smoking there.

I don't smoke, just telling it like it is. Yes, it would be wonderful if the entire world stopped smoking, and it would be even better if naked women riding unicorns came flying down in the middle of the night and left piles of chocolate candy bars at the foot of my bed, but that ain't happening either.

As far as non-smoking goes, don't expect it to start in Casinos. They will probably be the last bastion of the evil weed consumption. So don't be surprised when you go to a casino and you find a lot of smokers.

Kind of like going to some back alley dive bar, and then complaining in amazement that the place was filled with a bunch of drunk people, most of whom were probably alcoholics. Oh, and these back alley dive bars, populated with drunken alcoholics, usually turn a blind eye towards smoking regulations (notice I said usually. I am sure there are plenty of perfectly sleezy joints that are very strict when it comes to smoking).

So like I said, if I am planning on entering a casino (or a back alley bar) I don't swoon away or fall into convulsions at the hint of tobacco smoke in the air. In fact just the opposite. If I enter a casino and don't see rows of nicotine stained fingers pushing slot machine buttons, I am quite surprised.

I was playing at Chester last night, and was talking to one of the guys who will be a dealer at Parx. He said they will be opening middle/late October.

They will have 35 tables to start with.

Obviously everyone has different information, but this guy seemed confident.

Its one thing to allow smoking and to have a proper ventilation system to capture the smoke like most do in AC.As a casino owner it would behoove them to try and accommodate both sides. When you just WALK thru the Parx building your eyes start to water after just a few minutes.Seems like nothing was done to even try and ventilate the building. This tells me is they don't care and are just interested in making a buck. How this attitude will reflect to the poker room we will soon see.I don't play table games or slots so smoke away. The racetrack building which will house the poker room is smoke free!

dont know where u got 35 tables from, but they will only have 25 to start with, Pa state law says u can only start with 25, with the potential to expand. i spoke with the manager over there, and he said they will have 60 tables up and running in december

This is awesome news.

And with the possibility of 60 tables I'm sure they'll spread a variety of games, and not just 1/2 & 2/5 NL.

I just hope they don't spread all 1/2 NL and hold a couple tables for higher games.

Not sure how PARX thread became about smoke instead of poker room... but as we are getting closer to Oct 1, very interested to know if there are any signs of clear progress toward PARX opening their room?

OPENING UPDATE:
I spoke with people who are dealers and also, people that i know personally that work there......
OCT 18th is now the new date the poker room at PARX will b open.
I was told that is a firm date, but who knows. No matter who I speak with, I'm sure it could change.

I still have no answers on what games will be played....of course, there will be small no-limit games and I know there will be daily low-stakes buy-in tournaments.

I'll will update this thread, when I know more.

AS FOR SMOKING:

who knows why this has become such a huge problem in this thread???
I know the guy was just reviewing the casino, but we are talking about the POKER.

I havn't asked anyone, because there is NO-WAY the poker room won't be SMOKE-FREE ! !

The POKER & HORSE RACING is going to be in the OLD building on separate floors.
Horses will have a smoking section, but not in the poker room....
The new building where the casino section is has non-smoking sections, but honestly I will barely be in the new building so I don't care.

From what Ari has been posting, I doubt that it will be a 1/2 NL-only room, especially after they expand past 25 tables.

I'm guessing that it's going to be similar to the Venetian in LV; 4/8-8/16-15/30-30/60 limit structures, decent-sized tournaments, a few non-hold 'em games, maybe a mixed game, maybe $2 chips for 8/16, etc.

I think this would be best case scenario !!
it hopefully will be like this after a while, but maybe not until they expand past 25 tables.
It seems, no one will know until October 18th.
