Don't care. At 5 bucks a hand they can afford to clean them. If too hard then buy new ones. Probably easier to keep them clean if they didn't wait till they get this nasty.

Oh, and it isn't the weather they were sticking when it was cold last month.

Either way we're talking about a new casino with fairly new chips that is not going to clean them any time soon. I'm not arguing for Parx, just telling you the reality of the situation. If a casino is too cheap to spend more on a different dye color in their $2 and $5 chips, it's probably not going to spend to clean or even buy new chips any time soon. Hopefully they phase out the current $2 chips eventually, but it's unrealistic to expect them to buy new chips. And btw, they really aren't that nasty... Not even close to Taj level of soiled.

Also, humidity definitely plays a part, but is not the only reason. I've noticed a big variance in stickiness from one day to the next. And fyi, humidity isnt directly correlated to hot and cold.

It's ridiculous to assume the chips will never stick together. You're talking about a level of dedication that you just aren't going to find from an establishment driven more by profits than most.

Not to mention poker players have about the worst hygiene known to man. Just think of it as a positive. When the apocalypse comes, you'll have a very strong immune system.

30/60 limit goes pretty regularly, and 200/400 mixed but think those folks are pretty self contained.

15/30 game actually plays bigger. It's one of the best regular games I've ever played in.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

The 30/60 goes regularly but from my experience is super short 90% of the time and the game seems to break within 3 or 4 hours. I hope the $10 chips (if they ever appear) stabilize the game a bit more. I don't mind playing short but it really sucks when it's when a player goes on a heater and busts out another player. The game basically ends there. People are willing to ply 4 handed but it's rare to find people willing to keep the game going 3 handed.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

Hey guys just finished reading the thread Evelyn Wood style. Here's some tourney info as I see some are trying to decide if they want to play tomorrow night.

The Saturday tourney had 30 minute levels and ran about 10.5 hours to conclusion with no chop. There were ~1.4 million chips in play and we finished heads up just after we reached the 15,000/30,000 level. Once the blinds started to elevate in those final 3-4 hours most were playing 10 to 20 BB poker. Not sure what else to add, but feel free to ask if you have any questions. I won't be playing tomorrow, busy with work but I'll check the thread tonight/tomorrow in case I can help anybody who has questions.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

Does anyone think a 25/50 game would fill up and become a main stay better than a 30/60? It seems the jump from 15/30 for most players is too steep. Maybe even a 20/40? I've heard people say that the room wants to have different options from AC rooms but it's worth asking.

How big does it tend to get? (i.e. what do most people buy in for at 15/30)

Nah, if you do 20/40 you put at risk the solidity of the 15. Which crushes because you get all the 10/20 and 20/40 folks playing together. 25/50 is just not that different from the 30/60 to be worth it. I don't think the chips play that big a part in it not going all the time, it is a pretty "high" stake for a 24/7 game.
Look at the entire East Coast and how many places have a regular limit holdem game higher than 10/20? Foxwoods, caps at a 20/40 most of the time, Taj on weekends goes up to 20/40. Outside of the group of nosebleed mixed game guys only the Borgata's 40/80 is a higher & more regular game. It looks like there are only 4 locations even playing as high as 10/20 at any point. Borgata, Foxwoods, Parx, and Taj. And the Taj is only on weekends. There is that 30/60 mixed game at I think Sands Bethlehem but they are a select group and there is nothing in between 3/6 and it I have heard. I don't think there is much that can be done to make the game stronger as there just aren't people who can/want to play it.

PS: We must have played together at this point, give a shout out next time

2 racks of red. And it is generally an action game, lots of fun.

1 chip/2 chip betting structure generally sucks IMO. I believe 30/60 has been running full and strong recently, and it will only get better once we eventually/hopefully have the $10 chips.

OK, well I remember last week it was 5% humidity in the room (I carry my trusty hygrometer every time I go play poker) and my chips were still sticking.

Seriously, there is no reason to let it get to the point where chips start sticking many times in one playing session. It's nasty and bad biz. Profit driven? Sure, but I thought they want to be the best in the east???

Whatever. I am just glad flu season is over. If one more f'ing person sneezed or coughed on me while at the table....

Re: PARX Poker Thread

Looks like the 6/12 OE game is the only 'mixed' game to really catch on thus far.
Only problem is that it usually breaks early due the demographic of the table, i.e. - older people.

Curious...Would a 8/16 or 10/20 HOSE have a chance of going on a Saturday afternoon/evening ?

And it certainly wouldn't hurt to have a security presence outside of the Poker room besides the trucks driving around.... Alot of money coming in and out of those doors.

Thanks Ari

Re: PARX Poker Thread

I usually play at the Borgata but decided to give Parx a try last Friday. Really nice room but I don't know what disgusted me more, the very dirty chips or all the Phillies fans. Sure, I guess the latter can't be avoided, but those chips are really gross. They reminded me of chips from the Taj, and I'm sure that's not a comparison they want.
Also, what's up with the $2 chips? Haven't made up my mind how I feel about them but they are definitely weird.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

i just went to the parx and all the chips looked brand new. in fact one of the dealers even said they clean them every couple weeks or so. the 2$ chips were kinda annoying(at 1/2 anaways). only dumb thing that really happened was that i was told i cant' have my hoodie up when im standing in the poker room, but can have it up when im sitting at a table.

First off, GO PHILLIES.

Second, I really don't understand the constant scrutiny about the chips. You're all exaggerating. Yes, the chips have the inevitable dirt here and there, but I've yet to see a Taj-like chip. I just got home from a session and had minor chip sticking with 90% humidity according to weather.com.

As for the $2 chips I've heard mixed reviews from players and dealers. Personally I feel like they only belong in a limit game where they make more sense, and I can't tell you how many dirty stacks I've had. Some dealers say it helps the game go faster and some say it slows down and confuses action because of miscounting. Either way, it is better for waitresses and dealers because people are more likely to tip a single $2 than 2 $1 chips... In my opinion out of pure hatred for them alone!

Can't find it on the website, at least not with iPad. If someone had a link that would be grand!
