Where is the best place to park?
I've signed up for an Xclub card online - where do I pick up my card? The website said at the main lobby, so is that a different building than the Poker room?
Does Parx offer table-side dining?
Are non-alcoholic drinks free?
Do I buy my initial chips at the cashier or at the table?
Any odd house rules that someone new might be surprised by?
Anything else you would like to tell me?

Thanks a lot in advance.

You can get a card in the poker room. It may not be the Xclub card, but will work in the poker room for all poker games.

Yeah, but if you get the Xclub card in the main building you get $10 in free slot play !!! I lol'd

And just so it doesn't get lost on the last page can any one comment on the 4/8 group whether or not it's the same group of guys that are always playing ?

I never see more than 1 or 2 tables going at any given time.

Dude, it's 4/8, if you play NL, it's a smaller game if you're scared of the swings. I am certain that 4/8 regs are terrible or else they'd play higher.

I played a fair bit of 4/8, 8/16, and 15/30 last month to qualify for the freeroll. While there are certainly some pretty lousy players in the 4/8 game, the majority of the players are simply loose-passive, but not terrible.

The description earlier that most of the players are old guys who will just call the river with the nuts isn't strictly accurate--I noticed several old guys who were extremely passive on earlier streets yet would overplay their hands on the river. For example, I saw players who wouldn't raise something like AQ on a Q22 flop that would 4-bet the river with an ace-high flush on a paired board.

First your are like they are really bad, but not terrible, then you are all they are really terrible. I'm confused.

Calling with AQ on a Q22 flop or 4 betting an A-high flush on a paired board aren't "terrible plays," and could even be correct in certain scenarios (although probably not the particular ones I observed.) Things like calling to the river with an underpair, calling the flop with one overcard or just a backdoor flush draw (in a small, multiway pot) are "terrible plays" and the majority of the players I encountered didn't do that. Most of them played a few too many hands preflop and were too passive, but I wouldn't describe them as terrible.

Or, they are playing at their financial comfort level vs. the risk. I know a few folks that don't play above 10-20 and they are quite competent, if not very good, players. They just don't care enough about the game to put more money in play. Some simply cannot afford the risk and others, who could play significantly higher, choose not to.

I have seen some games where it was largely LP calling stations, to other games, that were a little more wild & wooly. Either one is probably the most profitable situation that you could hope for.

These are precisely the types of opponents that you want to face.

1st post in this thread. Stumbled onto the thread a few days ago and have been trying to read through it in my spare time. Have a few more days of reading to go to get caught up. It's been entertaining to say the least.

Played Parx's 1st Tournament yesterday and actually shipped it, woot

Ari, I was going to introduce myself but you left before we completed it. I was at the Final Table #50 all day long, seat 4ish in a green shirt. I'll say hello next time I'm in the room.

Didn't get home until about 2:00 AM, still pretty tired. Will try to post more during the week after I get done reading. Just wanted to say hello and thank Ari and staff for a nice tournament yesterday.

First time at Parx east was this week. My thoughts on improvements

Must have Valet Parking to make players feel safe!

Why would they buy 100 10-handed tables, when only 9 players fit? This really shows what sort of managements problems they might have. Didn't anybody bother to try out the tables for a day before buying all of them?

The TV's need to be fixed. Some are not in HD and that's just unacceptable in 2011.

Why are the chips so hard to tell apart? Another sign of their poor management. Didn't anybody bother to play with the chips for a day, before they ordered 1,000,000 of these ridiculous color schemes that all involves baby blue.

Besides that, I LOVE THIS PLACE!

I'm pretty sure they purposely did this so people like you have something to complain about. Especially the non HD channel you saw

Im a big fan of parx and play there a lot.
A few things that could be improved....
Lose the $2 chips at the 2-5 NL
...losing $2 chips will solve the issue of them looking the same as $5 when stacked
Change 2-5 to $6-7 time (just my opinion, obv tight nits will disagree)
Allow straddles. (Never been there, but I hear Chester allows them)
Action out of turn should be binding
Dealers should be encouraged to "actively" run the game and enforce the rules
...As suggested in the past...
Massage girls
Group rate at motels nearby
Vending machines for food/beverages

...It may seem like complaining, but these are the few things that need improvement. For the most part Parx is great and seems to go out of their way to accommodate players.

The $2 chips are more of a pain for them than us. The cashiers have to always double check each stack on the way in and out. I saw one person get a dirty stack in his rack he bought - I'm sure there were others. They obv know about it but won't do anything just yet. If u wanna know the reason - people throw the $2 chips to the dealers and waitresses instead of $1s pretty often. It is a good thing for them. Maybe they will change the color in the next room. But no time soon.

Anyway I don't mind comments / suggestions but he was just complaining like an old man and it's getting kinda old in this thread.

Its also not good for a potentially new player to see 5 paragraphs of how the tv isn't HD and dumb s%## like that.

The reason for $2 chips is to keep dealer trays full so they don't have to do fills a lot and slow the game down. Which everyone would be btchng about that then.
