Can someone please explain to me why the 200-400 mix game is good for the card room? I'm not saying it's bad, I just have been lectured on the "value" it adds to the room and I just don't see it.

I am not speaking of the rationality of these things, just that they happen.

People like to:
A: Feel a connection no matter how tenuous to games being played that high. They feel their play is more legitimate as part of the same community as true high stakes players.

B: After leaving they have a story to tell, "oh man I was at Parx the other night playing and these guys were . . . . "

C: Rubber necking, people love to see that kind of money moving around even if it at a distance.

D: It lets people feel like there is no where left but up, if you play the biggest game in a room it loses some of it's psychological rush for people.

E: It allows games that are closer to the highest stake to go off while these folks are waiting. Starting things like 75/150 maybe to play while waiting, giving 30/60 guys a "big game" to take shots in.

Again, this isn't about these things being rational or important to us, but they surely go through the minds of a sizable portion of recreational players.

It's very simple, more games = better.

I do know one thing about this room. It is not for the low limit holdem player. Many times the only limit game going is 15-30 after 11:00pm. I know the rake is high at $5.

There are a few nights, I just want to play cards and only risk $50 to $100. Heck I work two jobs and I can not afford to put rent money on the table every session.

It wasn't that bad when you could choose the 4-8 Omaha 8o game if the 4-8 holdem game was full. The regular old timers have made the 6-12 O.E. game a "banker's hours" only game. It's sad, cause they killed the 4-8 Omaha 8o game. After 6:00pm...BANK CLOSED.

So is it two much to ask for a 2-4 limit holdem or a 2-4 w/$1 ante stud hi or hi/lo game?

Please throw a bad broke poker player a bone.

Again I understand the reasons...

Keep the rif rats out. "I am not a bum...just a working JOE."
More money on the tables, equals more action.
PARX equals #1 room in PA...maybe east coast for the high limit players.

Hasn't this been discussed ad nauseum already? You say you understand the reasons, but I don't think those are the reasons. Why would you want to play a game where it is impossible for anyone, other than the house, to win money? If you work two jobs and can barely afford to put money on the table, why not organize a penny home game with friends, coworkers, family, etc.? If you are dying to play at Parx for real money, why not play 4/8 half as often...but play a game that doesn't simply suck money from the poker community.

Sorry if this comes off cranky...damn Parx is making me wake up in the AM today.

The 6/12 2 way game has killed the 4/8 08 game.I said before they couldn't sustain that game without stealing players from the 08 game.
When they wanted to start they would come over and try to break or change the 08 game.
Now it seems just the 6/12 runs at what what the OP said as bankers hours.
The same core base with a few who can not help but run their mouth the whole time.I do not mind table banter but come on the world does revolve around you give it a rest at times. The few have chased me out of the game and I really enjoy a mixed game so that took a lot of non-stop babble.I,m sure they don't read this because a computer does not have ears to bend.

Why so cranky about players who want to play low-limit games.

The "play a game that doesn't simply suck money from the poker community" statement doesn't fly. Why go to Vegas?...your taking money out of the PARX poker community. Why eat in Center City if you live in King of Prussia...your taking money and jobs out of the King of Prussia community.

I am sorry if you are a Professional Poker Player. I play poker for fun. My point was. There are only a handful of games to choose from @PARX for the low-limit player. With my main point being that the 6-12 O.E. game has killed the 4-8 O8o game.

1-2 NLH (Daily)
4-8 LH (Daily)
4-8 O8o (Rarely...Runs most Saturdays)
6-12 O.E. (Daily...until 6:00pm)
8-16 LH (Rarely)

Structure sheets were on the front desk when you walked into the poker room a couple of days ago.

Why does this bother you? It's not PARX's fault. PARX didn't discontinue the 4/8 O8 game. They will run that anytime there are players for it.

The majority of the player pool wants to play 6/12 OE and PARX accommodates. You also say you're upset that this game ends at 6 or 7 every evening. Again, that's the players leaving. There is obv no set time limit on the game from PARX. Every night I'm at PARX, there's either a 4/8 HE and O8 going....or there's a list.

Your main point is misdirected if it expresses anger/disappointment at PARX.

Please don't redirect your focus to 2/4. It's be talked about a million times.
