Hi - can anyone tell me roughly how much from Philly City Center to Parx by cab?

Last time it cost me just under $70 with tip. This was at 2AM.

That doesn't really seem very cost efficient unless they crush games like you do sir. There are no cheaper alternatives?

There is a bus that runs to Parx from the Frankford Transportation Center. You can take the Market Frankford subway line there. I'm pretty sure there is a Chinatown bus from Chinatown Philadelphia (center city) straight to Parx (lol degen asians; disclaimer: I'm Asian).

hey i have an idea on how u can recoup your cab ride. just get a list of people who are interested in some awesome Chinese food and bring it along and charge markup. you can just buy two big bags and it'll sell super fast. you can count me in!!! i'll be hanging out in parx a lil more from now on

Yup. $10 round trip ticket, Parx pays you $20 cash when you arrive. If you enjoy riding in a small white van with 15 other Asian dudes, this is your ride from Philly Chinatown.

so if i quit my job, i can make $10 by riding a bus back and forth from parx to philly? i mean, the hourly is probably about $5, but i can sleep and just ride 24/7. easy $500 a week and no room and board necessary.

Given the hygiene of some of the Chinese dudes in this van, you definitely won't be the first to make the easy $500 per week.

I just tracked it continuously (every few hours) last week and assumed it would be similar this week

He is talking about a site you used to be able to go to and see when every game had started and finished in graph form for months back, it was super awesome. But the guy who did it stopped updating it, so after a move from the beta to production of the Parx live update his site stopped getting new data.

trip report for tuesday night (in case there are people who still haven't tried out parx)...I've been going to play either $2/$5 for myself or $1/$2 with a friend of mine who plays that game about 2-3 times a month since Parx opened. I was actually planning to start playing 30% or so live this summer but now it'll be closer to 100% because of the online situation. I'm starting with a pretty smallish live roll (~$10K) and will look to build up to $30ish by summer so I can get back in the $5/$10 games.

Anyway I tracked the games and talked to the wife to make up my schedule and I'll be there every Tues Fri and Sat...so if anyone wants to grab food or something during a break and talk a few hands, pm me or something.

I thought tuesday would blow but that day works best for us schedule wise...it was actually great. there was a steady flow of massive fish constantly. a few drunk guys even in the mid afternoon. There were a few online guys who played but some of them are like SNG pros or multi-table grinders who really didn't do anything special. they were easy to spot because they had their headphones on and couldn't sit still for more than 15 seconds haha...i'm sure they'll adjust or quit live soon though. There were also one or two 5/10 games going...this is def a good thing if you are playing 2/5 or 1/2 as the stronger players will filter up leaving lower games softer.

i made a few rookie live mistakes including calling a river c/r after a guy sighed and moaned about how bad of a card that was (i made a straight but he made a higher one ooobbbbvvvv)...got them out of my system though hopefully.

love the look and feel of parx...i used to play in home games around here and love the whole going upstairs to a separate room feel....reminds me of the old days.

having not been there for a few months, I noticed a few more girls playing in the games. It still sucks that there is such a small percentage of girls but that's a huge market that needs to be tapped into to increase the player pool. I heard two separate conversations of guys saying girls shouldn't be allowed in the room...lol to that and that's prob a big part of why they aren't there.

anyway..just a few rambling thoughts...ok..back to my day!
