Uh, maybe 30-40? It really depends on the table. I've played there on the weekends and was playing with a bunch of weak tight nits. I've also played at a really juicy table, and also a table with people that are really fishy preflop, but can find folds post flop.

I mostly play 1/2 at PARX, but am now transitioning to 2/5 since my bankroll is almost at the point where I can play 2/5 exclusively. My 2/5 winrate at PARX is pretty high over a small sample though (like $75/hr over 20 hours lol).

I'd have to play more 2/5 at the borg to get a real idea between player differences. The only thing I really noticed was that people tended to limp/call preflop more often, and couldn't hand read as well or weren't able to fold as often. (Won a nice pot where a guy couldn't lay down KK on an A high board, I had a set).

I myself am an online player who has just recently switched to playing a lot live although I still play a fair amount online. I can't say for sure if games will be tougher as I haven't played much live before.

I think in terms of player quality the B has an advantage in the fact that drinks are free and they also got the tourism factor. I think the games at PARX are still way beatable though, I haven't played with anyone yet that I don't think I have an edge over (/brag).

My opinion about the rooms: I think the B has an overall nicer room, but I like the dealers way more at PARX and I think it's run better. /ramble

Re: PARX Poker Thread

Parx games are very beatable. You can typically find at least 2 or 3 fish (level 0 thinkers) at any 1/2 table.

Also, I think that poker will be easier than it's been the past 2 years but not easier than it was 6 years ago. Economy is rebounding. More money out there=more money on the tables

Yeah I played for 10 hours and smoke was not an issue. Games are soft have more fish than AC. Lot of the dealers are from borgata and other ac casinos. The waitresses are smokin. Wow. This place is good for gaming but if u want to hang out, hit a bar or club or meet women you definitely cant do it at Parx. Its ni e its much closer than ac but Ill definitely hit AC in the summer cause its great overall with beach boardwalk women etc.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

Ari,

I just read a thread about a dealer saving a players life and had a question.

Eight years or so ago I remember employees at companies and small businesses in my area were hyper aware of the importance/benefit of having a defibrillator available. It was not uncommon to hear conversation about employees(mostly management depending on size of business)/employers having to learn how to use defibs and have them available.

Do you have any program like this? If not, has it been discussed? I'm not a defib salesman, I just wouldn't want to witness, while walking through the slots to poker room, heart attack death scene police tape after degen Billy Bob dropped his mortgage on $1 slots as kids eat Mcdonalds in car. <<< j/k here
Spoiler:

Would they death scene tape around the slots?

Ari (or anyone else in the know) - can you clarify if you the 60 hours is only for the month of April or if it's the full 6 weeks through May 16? Thanks!
The qualifying is for the entire month of April.

Anyone have any interest in 15/30 Stud this Saturday night? It would be half rake if we got it running.

I'll play it along with 2/5 NLHE if some people would only play it with that.

Any chance you can give some nominal comps go players who have work on the Tuesday of the freeroll but rack up 60+hrs in the month of April?

You are probably the only person who gets 60 hours in a month and works full time. jkjk. But yea, hopefully that can happen, as many players also work full time.

It's just ten 6 hour sessions, or ten 6 hour sessions (for you this would be playing 7 or 8 hands and folding 1,200).

Another thing is that people have vacation days? It probably starts at like noon so you could take a half day or promise to skip lunch for a whole week.

A real question is how the comps are calculated. Are the minutes for each session added up, or is there significant down-rounding that goes on?

Re: PARX Poker Thread

just went here for the first time ever from Brooklyn NY.
place in terms of service for drinks late int he evening ****in sucked! the hottest waitress there and she was smoking wasn't coming to my one table i bitched 4 times and got a coffee after 3 hours.
Food ***** ***** terrible. no food but a noodle bar absolute crap and if you took those Asian buses like me because i feel like sleeping and not paying anything to go there your beat on driving down the road and getting something to eat. but still food is **** because there is none!
players there suck compared to AC , room is clean, dealers competent and staff is good. even charged my phone for me when I couldn't find an outlet.
I'd go back because its so much closer than AC.

The morons in AC deserve every loss of business they can get. They could have invested money to get people to AC all they did was take a NJ transit train and extended it from Trenton to AC. should have thought about a bullet train, they have the money. seriously who wants to ride 3 ***** hours on a train from Penn station that only runs on weekends. Now AC is beat as these casinos pop up everywhere.

if your a good player stay the **** away from Parx if not come on down!!!!!!!!

I don't understand why a player willing to put up several $200 buy-ins a night at 1/2 would balk at playing a $175 tournament. I hope that Parx will follow the Borgata route in spreading weekday tournaments around $100+20, with a couple tournaments a week in the $200-$500 range.
you think its better value to play a $175 than a $200 buy in a cash game?????

pretty sure a cash game buy in consistently will return more than tournament buy ins

There are 5 fridays and 5 saturdays in April. Two 6 hour sessions on these days through the month and you make it in on the money. Two 10 hour sessions x 5 weeks, you max your starting chips.

FWIW, I think a 50k FR w/ 100 places paid is worth some schedule juggling.

**I'm sure a lot of people will schedule juggle in the month of April.

No, I'm saying that, for a player who generally willing to put up several $200 cash game buy-ins, a $175 tournament is going to be a better value than an $80 tournament.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

I made a point some pages ago that there is value in <$100 tournies for both the casino AND the player. This is IMHO, and based on my thoughts regarding Parx's popularity and floor traffic growth itf.

Player:

1) Higher volume of tournies to play for a grinder.
2) More players per tourney. Adding variance(negotiable). Adding $ also.
3) <$100 Satties are a good way to get into higher BI events.
4) <$100 SNGs are easy to fill and +EV imo. Reduced variance.
5) <$100 MTTs can generate $7.5k-$10k pools consistantly imo
Casino:

1) Increased traffic that feeds cash games. Increased rake volume.
2) <$100 daily tournies that avg. 150 players = $1.5k in tourney fees
3) 2 <$100 daily tournies that avg. 150 players = $3k in fees
4) Increase in alcohol/food purchases + EV
5) More players that feed cash games = more dealers get work/tips+EV

** As i have said before, I do not mind tournaments in the $150 range. I would just like to see<$100 MTT's in the mix weekly. $100-$120+ BI's weekly also. Maybe a couple weekly $200-$300+ Guarantees of some sort?

Yeah its a pain in the ass to get waited on/served drinks especially late at night. I also have a problem with the food selection; getting pretty tired of the noodle bar.

^By "vbj" are you referring to the Video Black Jack machines located in the back of the poker room? If so I believe it is $5 min but you should always be playing for the as bonus. 1000:1 on the jackpot hand.

Why are so many people happy to not see a bad beat jackpot? Also how is the action on weekday afternoons for (like Wednesday) 1/2?

Because we don't like buying $30 a day in lottery tickets?

Re: PARX Poker Thread

Just looked back through about 10 pages of posts looking for info about when parx will start running tournaments. Only thing I saw was something about a freeroll coming up, and some chatter about tournament buy-ins, but nothing about WHEN!

I've asked at the desk a few times, but they've been saying "soon" since December. Anyone have a real date for when parx will run regular tournaments?

1) extra $1 to drop
2) Attracts the derelict nits.
3) Effects play
4) Creates silly arguments "why wouldn't you call that, the BBJ is at 200k?"
I believe there is more down side but I just can't think right now

After the FR (may17th) daily tournaments will start. Ari posted that he was thinking of having them at about $175 but this is not set in stone. I'm sure we will be informed of a concrete plan for daily tournies in the coming weeks. Also Parx is still in the process of hiring dealers for the daily tournies. I believe we will know better after he hires the staff he needs.

[edit] and like dinesh said...2 a week..I think Ari posted Wed./Sat.
