Ban 1/2 PLO at Parx imo

It's a weird structure with pots filled with 1s and 2s. And the game moves painfully slow.

5/5 PLO

Hi,

Anyone knows more information on Daily Tournaments after the Free Role?

Buy-ins and chip counts etc.

I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find it in the thread.

I know the dealer swipes you in at this room, but do you have to swipe out? or does the dealer just take care of it when you leave?

They take care of it, you just swipe in when you go to a new table.

Ari said he is going to be posting a pay table for the freeroll today. I'm hoping he will also include a structure. The starting chips he posted for the FR would lead me to believe the daily tournaments will have 10k starting stacks. Just speculating, but I think it would be safe to say being 10k was the low end of starting chips for FR. I guess the structure would be similar, if not the same, as well. He will probably answer that when he posts today.

[edit] I don't think he's set on buy-ins yet. I might think the weekdays would be in the $40-$60 range, and weekends $100-$150 range.

Is this just your thought?

I would hope the Saturday one would be $300 or something like that.

Nothing has been officially stated about this, beyond what Ari posted about the freeroll.

We'll have to wait & see. Speculation is just... well, speculation

There we go.

Definitely expected the weekends to be in the hundreds, with all the traffic in the room. I must say, I am a little disappointed at the weekday buy-in. But then again, I'll be happy to pay $175 weekdays with the expected weekday traffic in an exceptional, growing room. Might very well work out nicely.

Thank you for posting the pay table Ari.

Jonathan,

We are just planning right now, so nothing is set in stone.

Thanks for keeping us updated, Ari. While I think it is awesome to see some big buyin games in the pipeline, I for one would also like to a see a few lower buyin "donkaments" for us live micro grinders. Some tournaments in the $50-$100 would be a lot o fun and could draw in some first time players imo. Of course if the quality of the structure has to be a trade off, then it may not be worth it.

Thanks again, Ari. Keep up the awesome work!

Glad to see the 8/16 lim has had a some what of a heartbeat over the past few days!!!

I wanted to ask if anyone could give me an idea, roundabout, when the game normally gets going on a Friday. I plan on making the trip tomorrow, my day is wide open, so I don’t want to get there to early and spend hours on the 4-8…

How has the game been? What would you compare it to, Borg 6/12, 10/20…..

Don't get me wrong, not complaining. BI's still tentative, got it.

When I saw the $175 weekday, I was just a little deflated is all. I was just hoping, with weekdays usually being less busy in most rooms, the buy ins might be comparable to other rooms. While writing last post, I remembered I expect big things from this room. I expect a good bit more traffic during the week at Parx then other rooms. Hopefully generating enough players to support larger fields for 175's consistently.

I mean, if there are 200 players consistently, $175 may very well be worth the shot for players....err.. idk... Generating larger field sizes in the weekday tournaments may not be that difficult during their infancy. Say, 1st 3-6 months. Sustaining a consistently large weekday field size, long term, with that high a BI, may prove to be a different story imo. The $230 I think will work nicely on weekends.

Idk, I really really want this room to shoot to the moon, and believe it will. You know way more about this stuff then I do, I know golf. I will continue to have faith in you and your teams quest to make Parx the best room on the east coast. I'll just sit back and enjoy the ride!!

I think I can speak for everyone when I say we appreciate your efforts, and your prompt response to all of our questions and concerns. Keep up the good work. I look forward to meeting you.

BTW, I like that your paying 100 in the FR..nice touch.

Not insanely uncommon at 2/5NL with a max BI of $1000.

Played a $2800 pot about an hour after you posted this, actually.

When you first get carded, just ask for a wristband, and you won't be bothered again.

The game goes around mid/late afternoon - give or take. It can go all night, or break on a whim.

It also can be and is, many different games, depending on the lineup. Generally, several of the "usual suspects" are quite LAG. If they are catching cards, then strap in for a wild ride. If one (or more) goes busto, then the game can ease up a little. If you get a few 15 players waiting for that game to open (or the 2nd table), again depending on who - it will either LAG up or screw down.

One of the problems with this game, IMO - is its overpopulation with regulars. There is almost zero new blood in the game. So, it can and does swing between amazingly soft to almost stupidly aggressive, as the different regs (each with their own style) come & go.

If only it was like the old Borg 6/12 <sigh> that was a great game!!! Like the old Taj 15/30... yum!

The current Borg 10/20 is a lot like this 8/16, filled with regs (although most of them are nitty compared to the Parx lineup). Both games, IMO are not so great... more than they are great.

If you don't like high variance... this game may not be your cup-o-tea!

$175 for a mid-week tourny. Deflated me as well. Was definitely not expecting that. :/

Had such a crazy night at Parx last night. I got down $1500 (in 2/5) but there were two visibly drunk people just trying to give money away at my table. I used the last $500 I brought and ran it up to $2300, $300 profit. And yes I took about 500 from one of the drunks.

IFSATG - Thanks for the informative post!!!

I can understand it being filled with regs, since it has been struggling, but really doesnt excite me to sit.. It's one of the problems I had with the Taj 10/20, I felt like I was the only stranger when I sat..

I had thought about jumping to the 1-2 NL, this just adds 1 more reason to..

I"d hate to play the 4-8, its just not for me.. The one night I played: Limp, Limp, Limp, Limp, Limp, Raise, Call, Call, Call, Call, Call.. I was just about the only person 3 betting, NEVER a capped street. The Parx version of 2-4...

I guess game time decision tonight..

Thanks again!!!

Definitely reg infested but you must have a more liberal definition of Laggy than me; it plays a lot like Borg 10/20 imo.

And, the problem with that is??????????

IMO - that is a GREAT game. 5 limpers, then a raise - and they all call. Aiy-Ya!!! Sure, TPTK doesn't hold up much. But, your multi-way hands will almost always get the right price and when you win - you need a backhoe to collect the chips.

Adjust your play man. You just described a collection of human-ATM's.

The 4-8 game at Parx is a money maker, if played correctly.

You'd rather play in a limit game with 2-3 seeing the flop? Raise & take it? Almost every hand raised pre-flop? That's too much work

Take the free money!
