But I make due.
I play mostly PLO and the 2 dollar chip is an issue, same color as the 5 very easy to mix up. If I scoop a pot always took time to sort out my stack.

I got stack by a fun player and he immediately table transfer and chip down to $100 at the new table, so scummy put me on tilt.

This will be an issue at 2/2 as it encourages ppl to short stack the game and than rat holing.

I would agree. But I have no idea what "cromulent" means.

I'll use it in a sentence if it helps...

Embiggens is a perfectly cromulent word

You sound like my color blind son--he thought he had taken one of his brothers out in RISK only to have us tell him he missed a country that he thought was his color, but turns out was his brothers. Being a good Dad, I took out his brother on my turn, got a massive match windfall in cards and took over the world. Still funny ~20 years later.

Get ye to the ophthalmologist.

It's the blue, if you have a 2 mix in the middle of a stack of 5 very easy to mistake it for the 5.

That 2 dollar chip was supposed to be for the split game only.

What you appear to be missing is that some people are colorblind, and that they see little to no difference between some shades of red and green.

The $2 is baby blue, not green.

But the real issue is that, while the chips look much different laying flat, their edge patterns look much more similar because the red one has a wide blue spot (and less importantly, the blue one has an thin orangey red spot). It is very easy to have a blue $2 in the middle of a stack of reds and not notice it. This is why you see the cashiers spin each barrel of a rack of reds when they are cashing you out, doing so makes any blue chip in the middle stand out more.

i saw a guy get screwed this way about 9 days ago when passing thru on the way to the new ocean resort in AC., but i didnt speak up because i couldve been wrong and it wouldve pissed at least 1 person off. but the dealer was matching stacks, and i seen a blue in one. at least i think i did.

that being said, the first time i ever played at MD live, i didnt know $2 chips existed a few years ago and a player put in a raise to $8. one $5 one $2 and one $1. id never seen a green $2 chip (at least Parx its blue) and i thought it was a raise to $31. so i put out $31 in $5s and $1s. then since id reraised, he repotted it and put me allin and i lost the pot and wasnt too happy.

i like the $100 min buy, but i dont hit and run until im ready to quit. i kept playing even with $700 in front of me.

I don't think there's anything wrong with letting the dealer know that you think one of the stack is dirty. I think there's a degree of fair play/gamin involve with poker that anyone at the table can speak up. If the losing player genuinely make a mistake he would put in the correct chip to rectify the situation. If he doesn't I would make a mental note of what kind of person he is, and be more aware of this guy as some one more likely to angle shoot and other scumbag behavior such are the things we all must deal with in live poker.

now that i think of it, i must of been in the $1-2 NL game at the time instead of the 5 card PLO MD live offers. i just usually played the 5 card PLO when there.

$2 chips are annoying, because they make for too many different denominations at the table. When I play 2 5 NL, it is already enough to have black, green, red and white chips in play. There's no need for an artificially created $2 chip to increase tips. Same goes for SugarHouse.

more annoying to me are the dealers who when asked to break a redbird, throw 2+2+1 out there

try being more subtle next time, buddy

Why does that bother you? You can still tip $1 and he has less chips to give you. I don't like the $2 chips but if they exist, the dealer should put them into play accordingly.

100% agreed. It slows the game down while people fuss with their chips and ponder the right combination of colors to make a call, as well as the dealers coping with multiple iterations of change that need to be made from the pot or the tray, and asking to chop a blue every time you tip because there are always more blues than whites in circulation. I started tipping every other pot with blues but I don't enjoy keeping track of that.

As for the dealers making change, I think they also have to deal with an insufficient amount of whites given to them in fills.

when the dealer gives u $2 $2 $1 instead of $1x5 when u need change, it just creates more work for the dealer. heres why suppose im short on whites and decide to toss in a $5 instead of using 2 whites for my BB. when he gives me $2 and $1 in change instead of 3 whites, im just going to create more work for him on the next hand when im SB by using the blue chip instead of the white simply to get rid of it. and then he has to give me $1 change

were he to give me 3 whites id use one on the next hand in my SB, speeding up the game by creating less work him on the next hand.

because it either forces players to make $2 their default tip or creates the need to further break $2 chip, wasting time

there's no reason for $2 chip to be present in 5-5 PLO game

as someone pointed out from the side the 2 dollar chips and 5 dollar chips look the same.
from the top they obviously look very different.

bc instead of having 4 whites left i will now have to get more change the next time i win a pot.it's obvious why they do it.
i usually just ask for 5 whites when i get change.
i hate those 2 dollar chips.

when i first started reading this discussion re $2 chips, i didn't see any problem with the chips themselves or $2 + $2 +$1 change, because you can obviously make any value you want with that. but i was also thinking of it from the standpoint of a 1-2nl player, where i need increments of $2 fairly frequently. when considering that some posters here are talking about $5-5 games and up, where chips <$5 are probably literally never needed except for tips, i think the dislike of the $2 chips is pretty reasonable.

the real dislike is some of us like having only 2 piles for our chips, 1 stack of reds in front of us, and one stack of whites, with about 10 or more in the stack. no one wants to have to make a 3rd stack with only 1-2 chips in it, either whites or blues. especially if u have 1 stack of say 25-30 reds and another stack of 8 whites who wants an odd blue chip in the way and u dont want to have to constantly dig underneath the blue chip to get to the reds or whites either.
