Hey guys, I intend to travel to this area for the Big Stax 500 next month. Often I go to hotwire.com and plug in for a 3.5star+ hotel and I've always had a good experience. Hotwire search for this area I would pay $84/night + tax. Are there specific places in this area you like to stay?

Also I'm amazed at how many games are running here. I'm just a 1/3NL player, dabble in PLO, mostly like MTTs. There is more action here than Vegas casinos....

Was playing at Parx today and overheard staff member saying poker room is moving to the main building in March. Why the move? What changes/improvements/etc. can we expect?

I kind of like it where it is now.

some feel quite unsafe when its 3am, walking thru the parking lot to the main building, wondering if theyll get robbed. better it be all in 1 place, no long walks in the dark

Yeah I can see that. Is that the main reason for the move?

Ive played poker at Parx quite a bit but have never been over to the main building.

Whats the new room supposed to be like?

I am also wondering if there are better places to eat in the main building?

No it had nothing to do with that I don't think. To my knowledge parx hasn't had any issues with security in the parking lot.

My understanding is that this has been part of the strategic plan for awhile, and now they are ready to make the change. The HVAC system is also on its last legs (which is why the temp is so screwed up some days, or even between the front and back of the room) and rather than spend money upgrading it there, they are going to use that money on the conversion.

I believe the location will be near chickie and Petes. I have heard that the tournaments will be held upstairs, but I don't know the location well enough to be able to picture that, so take that into with however much salt you have.

My personal opinions :

* Yay for better HVAC
* I hope smoke and noise won't be a problem
* longer walks for parking
* more possibility for gamblers to pop down and "try poker"
* might improve the comped food situation. Definitely closer to the restaurants

Wonder if they'll start comping drinks.

I heard that it is going to be leasing the East building to a different tenant for horse racing. They lease it now. Idk if that's the truth, but vacating the East is profitable if for no other reason that it gives degens an easier access to pit games, and machines.

am thinking of playing the $500 deep stax, but have a few questions:
1. what percentage of field is typically paid
2. when will bubble be reached? start of day 2 or a few levels in?

thanks

1) roughly 10%
2) Several hours into Day 2. Because of 40,000 chips and slow structrure, about 20% of the field will remain at the beginning of day 2, so about half of the Day 2 starting field will need to be eliminated before money is reached

Will the game get off the ground? I love HORSE but it never goes when I am there. Maybe try 6/12?

Why not just play the big o/super stud? The 15-30 kill makes it fun. Hard to have so many different mixes at similar limits. Something higher like 20-40 might have better chance for horse or hoe but still unlikely there I'd think.

can anyone tell me why they are so busy on monday nights? moving to the area soon and trying to figure out why they have 36 tables on a monday night...

well, the big stax series is going on right now, so there are more tables than normal.

but weekdays are strong for parx (tues is even busier). It's a well run casino close to some of the well-to-do suburbs of northern philadelphia. people who live in philly don't want to drive down to AC during the week. and the promos tend to bring people in too, I would say.

During the month of September there was a high hand promotion. Everyone who won a high hand, had a ticket entered into a cash drawing. The drawing dates were 10/17 (last night), then 10/24 and 10/31. They do four drawings each night (5 pm, 7 pm, 9 pm, and 11 pm), the first 3 are $5K and the last is $10K I believe. You have to be present to win so that's why there was so many games last night. Monday night is normally 18 - 20 games.

I'm 23 years old and for whatever reason my ID was having issues scanning at SugarHouse on Sunday. They believed I was 21 but refused to let me in since my card is faded and wouldn't scan properly. I'm getting a new one but looking to play tomorrow as I have off. Never played at Parx, do they scan everyone now like Sugarhouse does?

Might just start going to AC more since I've never had issue. If I bring my birth certificate would this work?

Spend 30 bucks and get a new id

Parx does not scan everyone's ID at the entrance.

If you look young, they may check your ID. I don't think they use a scanner of any sort, just look at it, but to be honest I haven't really paid attention so I may be wrong about that.

Birth certificate or passport should work.

I don't think they scan IDs at Parx but maybe call ahead?

They use a scanner at. It's on the counter in the list attendant's station.

What's the deal with the 15 30 Fixed Limit? Regularity, times/days, players -- anything at all. Wanted to play it last week on Saturday but no avail.

(**Dinesh**... I'm not necessarily not looking your way)

Haha well now you're talking about a game I know well.

It generally runs mon, Tues, Fri. Sometimes Wed and sat night. Rarely thurs and sun.

It usually starts about 11 I'm told, and will run into late night usually if it goes.
