No way by bus. No easy way by train, but it's possible. Info in the first post.

How has the wi-fi been recently? Reasonably reliable? I'm thinking of going down this weekend and might need to take care of a bit of work if I get called. If the wi-fi is ok in the room I'll probably head down but if not I might have to scrap it and find another weekend.

wifi is fine for most things, streaming, email, web browsing etc. Haven't tried it for things like skype though if that's what you need it for.

Read through the posts since Jan and didn't see these:

Can I bring a small bag? Can I bring food/water with me?

Also how much of the field normally makes day 3 for the BigStax events? (Website is down and I can't look at the flyers.

You can bring a small bag, food (as long as it's not too big a production), and water.

Dunno about tournaments.

75 could go pretty often, there are almost always one or two people around and once it's up on bravo, any number of random guys will show up. In winter it goes on Fridays.

Razzducey, is allowed played rarely. Mix is random. And rarely if ever goes.

Yes, you can bring backpack & food into the poker room. They also have a food stand & bar right next to the tables.

The 300 & 500 had about 40 players left for day3 in Feb. The 1500 had about 20 left for their Feb day3.

The 45/60/90 minute structure is good, but the players in the Feb's 300/500 had to play an 16+ hour day3 which is pretty crazy when playing for 5 figures.

Why doesn't Parx just do a day4 for the final table or speed up the structure a bit? I'm guessing It was okay until they starting getting huge 2k+ field sizes.

assuming day 1 &2 are 12 hour days

12+12+16= 40 hours

$10,000/40 hours = $250/hour

My heart breaks for them

went there for the big stax event. Room was ran ok, so not really employees fault. Drink girls were good.

Room felt like I was playing in some casino attic. It was hot and sticky, cards sticking together - Usually I bring a hoodie to most casinos, not this place. It is hot! I guarantee you a lot of people get sick in a place like this - it was perfect temperature for bacteria to grow. One reason casinos are kept cold is so bacteria can't grow as fast. Bacteria - (They do best in a warm, moist, protein-rich environment that is pH neutral or low acid)

Food was meh - probably 1 - 2 stars. First table I sat at on thursday - someone left a bunch of pretzels - nuts - and trash in the cup holder. Not sure why the dealer would allow that but what ever.

Games were good. Many poor players like most live poker.

I would not come back - If I lived around here I would drive the extra 20 minutes to sugar house. That place is much better.

Edit - they did say they were moving the poker room to a new location. It was being built and should be moved by 2017. I would probably come back if it was moved.

when i was there like 2 weeks ago, this topic came up to which the dealer and a few regs laughed at, because apparently the poker room has been in the process of 'moving' for quite a long time. i don't go there enough to know if they were legit gripes, but just an FYI

Parx hot? I play there often, and I'm guessing that the HVAC system was screwed up. Table 1 specifically is a freezer. I would give the room a second shot. All those bodies for big stax probably didn't help. I'll agree the food is meh. Asian chicken salad is the only thing I'll eat. Sugar House is ok, but I personally prefer Parx.

I've been hearing the moving rumors for years. I recently heard from someone who works there and is friendly with an IT guy there that they are running the lines for all the cameras in the new poker room which is where they're doing all the construction on the left side of the main building. A dealer said they only lease Parx East, and someone else is taking over the lease/ horse operations. How true it is IDK. All scuttlebutt until we here something official.

These are the tables currently running on a Tuesday night. I guess it is partly due to the tournament series, but there are a lot of mid-high stakes, including 2 tables of 150-300 mixed, a 75/150 HOE, 4 tables of 10/10 NL, and 5/5 and 10/10 PLO games. There is more here, particularly for limit games than currently running at Borgata or Bellagio.

6-12 O/E 2
1-3 NL HOLDEM 2
5-5 POT LIMIT OMAHA 2
40-80 HOLDEM 2
1-2 NL HOLDEM 9
75-150 H.O.E. 1
15-30 HOLDEM 2
2-5 NL HOLDEM 8
10-10 POT LIMIT OMAHA 1
10-10 NL HOLDEM 4
150-300 Mix Game 2

Tuesday is the busy day at Parx. It's not due to the tournament series.

Yeah it's unlikely that the whole poker room was hot.....probably just near your table. It's a great room and the temperature is usually very good.

Well, I guess I can't speak for the entire room, but it was alternating between comfortable and hot/sticky at my table last night as well. When the room is fuller (like it is during much of the tournament series) it also tends to get a little warmer, especially in the humid summer months.

I am always hot though, and from my perspective it never got truly uncomfortable, just warmer than I would like (and warmer than the normally very cold temp that it normally is - and which I prefer). No problems with sticky cards or chips, either.

I did talk to a few people about it, and they are working on some HVAC and other solutions. But as with all things bureaucracy, it might not be fixed overnight.

I played 8-14 through 8/18 and the room was fine. Very comfortable. I played up front and in the tourney area.

How's the 150/300 mix on Tuesdays? Full of reg sharks or a decent game usually? Also, I called last time and they were playing BBTOE, is that typical or does the mix change a lot? Lastly, it doesn't seem to run any other days based on Bravo, true? Might be in town for work next month.

It runs almost exclusively on tues nights, with occasional wed, fri, or sat runs, but very occasional. http://www.thirdmanwalking.com/games...h_text=150-300

I don't play in the game, and can't say anything about what the usual mix is, how hard the game is, or who the players are, unfortunately.

You may need to seek medical attention! Parx is the coldest poker room on the East coast by 10 degrees.

Sucks, you came on here full of BS

On the Parx web site under the Bad Beat section is indicates you need a Xclub card to win
"Participants must have a valid Xclub card to participate" But that sounds more like a carry over footer from a tournament page.

Do you need a Xclub card to win the bad beat jackpot, or take part of if it you are at the table?

Believe you do need one, but you can get one made after winning it as long as you have ID.

I was looking over the schedule for the upcoming big stax series... specifically the $340 and i noticed that the Saturday flight was labeled as "turbo flight" ... due to s full time job that's the only day I would be able to play and was just wondering what's up with that? Are they really going to have one starting flight with a different structure than all the rest for that sAme mtt? Thanks in advqnce for the help
