Right, to clarify, the smoking area is open when there isn't a Big Stax series running - during it you'd have to go outside.

Anyone know of a good/cheap hotel/motel near Parx? Preferably one with a weekly (or monthly) rate and within 20minutes to Parx.

Thanks.

New rule: New players entering cash games (at all stakes) DO NOT need to post.

Thoughts?

Good for NL games, where blinds are inconsequential compared to stacks.

Bad for limit games, where blinds are meaningful.

Plus it encourages nits to sit and wait for blinds to pass them to maximize free hands.

Probably not too big a deal either way. Let's hope it doesn't attract freerolling nit jagoffs who take up time and space just to play free hands waiting for premiums then pick up.

Same here. Though I did think of one benefit - more non-nitty players are willing to take a hand right away after sitting down rather than wait for blinds or blinds to pass.

This used to be the house rule at Foxwoods. I heard they got rid of it because too many people were sitting for their free hands then promptly getting up and moving to another table once it was their turn to pay the big blind

Not posting is bad for limit. The nitty scope isn't the whole story. More dead money = more action. Having less people dealt in = more action(at least it should)

Not posting in nl is fairly normal.

Any reason for the room wide change?

Why do they always start the button in seat 9 when they start a new cash game? This just seems ******ed. Why not randomize it by high-carding for the button, so you're not punished if you like to sit in seat 2 or 3?

Apparently Parx's numbers are down since the opening of their competitor's poker room. There are many things Parx can change or add to make the poker room better and stand out from the rest. Aggressive cash give away promos work for numbers, but as a poker player, there are other details that need to be dialed in.

Examples:

1. If a player bluffs river and mucks bc he is called, the player who called should not have to show their hand. There is no reason to provide valuable information here if last aggressor is unwilling provide theirs. And for people to think it's to protect collusion, there are way better ways than this method.

2. Should be a way for players to receive chips in a timely matter so that they do not have to miss a hand. This applies especially to new Parx players. I've seen people just leave bc of this rule.

3. Should allow running it multiple times in big bet time raked games. This allows the casino to receive same amount of rake while maintaining the ecosystem of the game. Win win for everyone.

4. Like I've mentioned before, make the BBJ drop consistent at 10bb rather than robbing all the 2-5nl players. Now that they want to put in a 1-3nl game (smh) there is more of a reason to implement this. 2-5nl players need to speak up and understand why this is bad. Also, the 2-5nl is player pool is hurting.

5. Food needs to change. And by change I don't mean adding more frozen flash fried food to the menu and making up new salads based on the already had ingredients. Not fooling anyone. Why get rid of the breakfast platter too? It was the only thing they couldn't fk up and was probably best seller.

6. If they are going to be tight wads about the free alcohol to all players, at least give players in the high side free drinks ffs! Seriously mind boggling.

There are obviously many things that Parx does well such as the friendly dealers and floor people (who aren't time rake nazis like at some casino in AC). Any of these suggestions would help Parx become a better poker room. If you guys have suggestions we should talk about it more here rather than talking about the phantom bus that connects to Parx.

As far as I know, not in any normal rake / jackpot game, including 2-5.

I don't have any idea if Parx is hurting since SH opened, the room seems generally full enough to me. But assuming you are right...

1 and 3 are PCGB issues - no room in PA can implement your suggestions AFAIK.

2 - I'm open to hearing your suggestion for how, but no way will I agree that dealers selling chips out of the wells is a good one. Too much time spent on fills. I much prefer the current system. Keep some blacks or greens in your pocket if you want to keep people in the game when they get felted.

4 I have no opinion on, but I will say that if you have to tell people over and over again that they need to wake up and realize that something is bad, it probably means that no one else agrees or cares.

5 - the food has definitely gotten worse and more expensive over time. But it's still fine afaik. Improvements are welcome, of course. And as a random aside, the chipotle chicken wrap special tonight was awesome.

6 - free alcohol would be great, but it's easy to spend other people's money. until other rooms have this (and promote it) and people start abandoning the room for this reason, it probably won't change.
