30 game =bad news for 15 game in the short and long term. They'd do well to protect the 15 game before the 30 dries up all the action, in both player pools

Can we get any colder? I'm going to start bringing a parka. This is ridiculous

Anyone know roughly how many people will be playing the $200 satellite next Friday for the $1,600 main event based on prior years? And also what time it will end?

I just put my name down to get a box and apparently a dozen people are ahead of me ... Any idea how long it will take to get a box? Also, how many hours do you have to play to maintain it?

I would be surprised if there were only a dozen people on the list, but who knows. I have no guesses as to how long it will take. A week or two ago I noticed a few boxes with keys in them (i.e. available), but perhaps they've all been assigned by now.

To the best of my knowledge, to keep it you just need to go into the box and open it at least once every 60 days, though obviously if you're using it that infrequently maybe you don't really need it and at some point they will notify you and take it away.

Tx for the info... I was just cashing out and saw at least 10-15 boxes with keys in them ... Not sure why there is a 'list' ....

Well, it's entirely possible that those boxes have all been assigned, but the people they were assigned to just haven't been in the room (or haven't had the time, or just haven't yet been notified) to sign the paperwork and get them.

Also, like I said, I would be surprised if there weren't 100 people on the list, if not more, but I don't have any real insider info on it so maybe I'm quite wrong.

the 12 people ahead of you is not a real thing. i went from 25 people ahead of me to 10 over the course of 6 months, then from 10 to 0 in a week. you just have to show you play big games (over 10-10 or 40LH) for an extended period of time. not even that frequent, as i only played once a week.

maintaining is quite easy. the rule is just use the box once every 3 months. but they dont even follow this. once online in NJ started i didnt go for about 4.5 months and my box was not taken away from me.

Just moved to Philly from NYC and am looking to play at Parx frequently.

Living in NYC I didn't have a car and don't have one here either. I live in Center City- Does Parx have shuttles that run to them? I checked the bus schedule and it appears it will take 1.5 hours (!) for me to get there using SEPTA.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

'Thanks!

This was definitely true in the past, but I know one person in a similar situation who was notified that his box was going to be drilled open if he didn't come and start using it again. Also of note: the current paperwork reduced the usage timeline to 60 days from 120 days.

Unfortunately, there are no convenient public transportation routes to Parx from Center City (or NYC). You can take SEPTA rail, but then have to take a bus or cab the last mile (and then the same to return back).

I wouldn't be opposed to that, as long as it's faster than the bus!

Which train line do I take from center city? I assume I can find a cab easily once I'm off the train.

I've never taken them, so I can't say for sure. A little google-fu brought the following suggestions, which you can take at your own risk:

* Take SEPTA to Eddington Station, then cab 2.5 miles to Parx
* Take SEPTA to Frankford Transportation Center, then the 20 or 50 bus to Parx

Here is the SEPTA page on casinos.

are you sure there is no bus route to Parx because i think there is.

Put in your address in trip planner and they'll show you public transportation routes to get there. http://www.septa.org/index.html

There is a bus route, but it is 90 minutes long. For that amount of time and $10 I could take the njtransit train to the Borgata. I'd like however I get to Parx be faster than the aforementioned bus and cheaper than the $55 cab ride each way I was quoted.

Tx. Someone also told me that you need to play 10/10 and higher to get the box...but I only play 2/5, but do put in a decent number of hours...the reason i don't play 10/10 is because I don't want to carry a lot of money on me...and needed to get a box to start playing higher... I was also told that some of the boxes are reserved for potential tourney winners and out-of-town high limit players who are not Parx regulars.

I was also told it's a good idea to be a pest and keep checking on the status of the list..Any idea who the best person is to talk to in the room?

That would require me to get a license. I'm 29 years old and have a learners permit... it's the only thing about me that's special so I'd like to keep it

It looks like I'll be going from Philly to the Borgata, just seems safer and cheaper. Thanks for the help guys!

SugarHouse is going to be open in September, and they run a lot of free shuttles in and out of Center City.

I wanted to head over for some 1-2nl last Friday but checked Bravo and found something like 60 people on the waiting list. I assume that is because of the tournament series. Is that really an accurate count, meaning I could count on it being next to impossible to get a table tonight ~10:00PM as well?
Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ in OP Quote

Yes, the lists are a bit longer during the series, usually. It won't be impossible to get a seat, but you'll probably have to wait an hour. Have a friend put you on the list before you arrive (or call in and do it yourself).
