Agreed. The optimal set-up would have the 3&7 seats slightly to the left/right of their cupholders, and the 4&6 slightly more than that, like 'almost' halfway.
Solved.
Unless you're the douche in the Borgata 40/80 game the other night.

I heard from a reliable source that they resumed construction at the main casino and the poker room will be relocated there officially within 14 months. BBJ also coming very soon... I'm sure many of you already know.

Moving to the main casino has to be the right move financially. They now can shut down the horse building all night long and use an already in use building 24 hours. Seems like a no brainer.

On top of that the casino will make more money because those of us who cant help themselves will hit the BJ or roulette tables on the way out.

Anyone know why the wifi signal has been reduced? Many apps/websites are no longer working. I'm guessing it has to be sites which use a lot of data like pandora,FB,twitter etc.

Or maybe it's a conscience reduction to speed up game play by not allowing players to browse popular websites?

I only played once since things changed and noticed it as well, but didn't really have time to try to figure out what was going on. Previously they had blocked some sites that do streaming video (netflix, etc), but now I noticed that none of my apps were working either (e.g. words with friends). I wasn't positive if it was just a local problem on my device or what.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had blocked everything but port 80 traffic (web browsing) based on your report and my experience. No doubt they did this to improve performance for everyone by eliminating streaming and other big data usage.

It's hard to say for sure, but large corporations often use a configurable switch/firewall to monitor and block internet traffic, if they don't outsource it completely to some third party. I'm guessing someone just flipped a switch and locked their firewall down even tighter.

I haven't noticed "popular websites" being blocked, but I have noticed some sites being blocked for content reasons (e.g. porn). I swear it was a mistake!

I addressed the wifi issue to the sm and they are aware of it. I don't think they are blocking/filtering sites afaik. They let IT know of the problem and is out of poker mgmts hands.. They have not gotten a response back from them and this was last Thursday.

Moreover, the Borgata way has the cupholders where your arms would naturally go when resting, which I would find 100 times more annoying if I were trying to use it to actually hold a drink. And which cupholder is yours, the one on the left or the one on the right?
not true...everyone between upholders gives everyone a little extra room... after all, if everyone except seat 5 sits in front of their cup in a 9 handed game, then no one, except seat 5 is getting any extra room...so, what's the point of a 9-handed table?

The Wi-Fi issue has become a major problem for the last 2 weeks. My browser (Chrome) is alerting me that the security certificate of most sites is invalid and doesn't allow me to view practically anything, due to the 'unsafe' nature of the network. I bet they did a security update and screwed up their security policies/certificates. I have been forced to fire-up my VPN anytime I am at Parx, which reduces my speed, but world for now. on my iPhone, I haven't been able ti use the Wi-Fi for the same reason, and now turn off my Wi-Fi at Parx. Hopefully they will get this fixed soon!!!

And if everyone sits between the cup holders, then no one, except seats 1 and 9, is getting any extra room. It is straightforward geometry, and is exactly as I described in the post you quoted.

The only way for everyone to get the same amount of extra room is to have people evenly spread across the entire rim of the table. Seat 5 is between the 2 cupholders, and everyone else on both sides of seat 5 ends up skewed to various degrees, but none are centered on or exactly between their cupholders. It is impossible to easily "square" up a table in this way, which is why this is not the official seating rule.

You're being obtuse to think that going from two rooms open to only one wouldn't save a ton of cash.

The horse building isn't closing just going back to being used for horses only.

Having poker next to table games is a great idea, it allows to people to slip into poker games quickly without having to walk 1000 yards outside. Or to go specifically to one or the other.

As for parking? It is what it is.

The room in the "horse building" has been there for over three years. They have been talking about moving it since Day 1.

When, not saying IF, it happens it will mean a first for a lot of players, me being one. Never have ventured into the main building even to have dinner or a show. Poker player being poker player.

Yes, I know. Not sure you understand that i was responding to someomes opinion.

I am familiar with the strategy and benefits of casinos locating poker rooms near pit games.

Ime and imho, the pool of poker players @ Parx is different when it comes to pit degeneracy. A very high percentage of our poker players are just that...poker players, not degen pit players. While there will be a minimal influx of players that come from the pit to the poker room, the amount of poker players that go to the pit will be close to non existent @ Parx ime. This is evident by the amount of time the pit in the "horse building" is open, and busy... barely ever.

I have been playing this room since its inception. It is imo this location change will only noticeably benefit the reg infested HS player pool on a consistant basis... amirite Glantz?

Parking is just one issue. This thread is going to blow up again not just on this issue alone. Smoke, smoke smell, and noise are a few big issues that will dominate this thread when/if the move happens. I say "if" because I have faith logical minds will prevail.

... omg the smoke & smoke smell, that is going to be huge and will guarantee a reduction in poker players. Dumb move to move imo.

I thought you meant two buildings for parx to run. Obviously there won't be two poker rooms running. Running only one building is much better from parx's side as far as I can see.

I think some of your concerns are valid(smoke, parking) but overall having pit players closer to the poker room is better for ALL games, really I think 1/2 more so than high stakes. Just my opinion, but I think you'll see a few more players a night if the room is moved over. Any of which will be novices and good for all the games. I agree that parx has more pure poker players, but that's likely due to the segregation of poker and pit games. No one is going to stop going to parx cause they moved the room to a better location. Even over smoke or poor parking choices.

I haven't been to the main casino myself, even to eat, but I'd like to be a 3 minute walk to earl of sandwich or noodles rather than a 20 minute hike outside in the elements. That, if for not other reason is reason enough for me. Having random fish wonder in from the pit is icing on the cake.

I'm not sure what the amrite glanz thing is all about, it sounds like sports talk radio.

Parking will not be an issue. Valet Parking at the main casino is free during weekdays and $15 on the weekend. Parking is free for those that have non-red Parx Players card.

I personally like the fact that the poker room is segregated from the main casino and has more of a "California Poker Room" Vibe. In addition, it'll keep poker players from dabbling in the casino pit. Even if you don't play in the pit, you may be tempted. Most poker players that have degen tendencies have blow up and blow down stories via casino pit. It's a double edge sword. Some regs will get hurt by the pit, but it will also bring in some new players and passerby's so I guess it evens out. I also doubt that there will be a bar in the poker room. I imagine, you will need to access the "main bar" in the middle of the casino.

How will the safety deposit boxes be handled? I can imagine this being a pain in the ass because they will have to give a notice and go through a "downtime" for boxes as they transition. Will those that have a safety deposit box have to "re-apply", will they just physically move the boxes from the poker room to the main room? I know alot of people that want boxes but cannot get one, so i guess this can also be a good opportunity to make more available.

Personally, I'll believe it when I see it. They have been talking about this poker room move since day 1. The BBJ discussion has recently surfaced too, Pokerstars coming to NJ, etc. And again, I will believe it when I see it. Everything is speculations. We miss you, Ari...in the poker room and on 2+2.

Maybe you might even be able to see some (unpaid) women when the room is moved to the main building? Nothing wrong with that. I like being part of the casino party when playing poker, not tucked away in a corner.

Ugh for the valet parking. There is no poker game out there juicy enough to make up for the -EV of leaving your car keys with a teenager on minimum wage.

confirm, wifi is back. it looks like they just disabled their filtering software (you no longer have to agree to the Parx Acceptable Use policy screen, e.g.) so now everything is getting through again.

Does anyone know anything about the 15/30 MIX game that ran yesterday? I called in the the floor guy said three of the games in mix were Badugi, Triple Draw, and Stud 8. Were there any other games in mix? Does this play with kill or half kill? Is there a regular day that this runs or is it sporadic. Would love to play it, thanks for any info you guys may have.

Keep the BBJ away and a move to the main casino would be a negative of card room imo just to add to the current topics...

It is annoying when already playing in a short game to have one player constantly floating over to play Craps, BJ, or slots. Some players tend to even tie up a seat in waitlist games only to play floor games and occasionally come back to play in the game that they have seat locked up in. This can really irritate a table.

It's not a regular game. A couple of guys just wanted to play and Parx had dealers available. Parx is good like that. They run whatever you want if they have available dealers.

Mix only goes if a couple of specific people in the room. Not easy to get started but once its up, it can go for a while.
