On the other hand, the omelets used to be garbage, but now they are quite tasty. Go figure.

The 15-30 game is pretty easy at parx. Just stick with what you know and don't mix *nl* style plays in this limit game. You're simply not going to run people over profitably with 74s type hands all the time -- and that's generally what I see over in the 15-30 game. A bunch of NL players throwing money at the pot hoping to suck out with trash hands and win big pots. Play just like any run of the mill limit hold'em book outlines and you'll beat the snot out of the game, for now at least.

The food does suck at Parx. It's like the cook spins a wheel that tells him how long to cook it is whatever they're cooking. The other day I got eggs and it must have landed at the "cook 30 minutes" mark. While that evening I got the "cooked for 5 minutes" pizza.

The cleanliness is lacking too. While I didn't see bathrooms as atrocious as described here, I can tell you that the smoking section past the bar *never* get cleaned at night. Small ashtrays with 15-20 butts crammed in and smoldering x 8.

They really need to hire some more service people for drinks and food and general cleanliness. I mean rake the dealers tips $2 per down ($1 for OE mixed games) if you can't find the proper budget to keep the place clean. Or just get rid of the indoor smoking section in the poker room.

Do others concur.? I was playing 6/12 shorthanded Monday afternoon, it broke I got an OE seat and then got called to the 15 game and took a pass since I figured Mon afternoon wasn't good shot taking time. If I hadn't had the OE seat I would have taken the 15 seat.

Why don't you just sit in the game, wait to post your BB, watch the game for a couple orbits and if you like what you see, then play. If not, just pick up and go back to 6/12. You risked nothing. You're not going to get any more info on the game from this forum, IMO. There are only a couple (and by that I mean exactly 2) players who regularly play 15/30 and post in this B&M Parx forum.

There are at least 4.

The 15 is never very tough but it does play differently than 6/12.

That may be but 'waste' implies significant cost. I'm not sure exactly how much more $ it is for businesses than residents, but damn it's got to be a drop in the bucket.

15 during day can be stale/slow, tough in that sense, not tough cause its all superstars.rarely does one find a truly tough lineup..

That said 15 is to borg 20 what parx 6 is to borg 10. Totally different games, and mostly player pools. So it maybe tough to the unexperienced, only way to find out is to put time in. Take shots build confidence yada yada..a subjective opinion isnt gonna give one a win rate.

Not sure why I didn't pull the trigger on the 15. Prolly since its been awhile. Played the 15 several times in MN when I was an 8/16 reg. I did prefer to shot take vs randoms or known big donors But now as occasional player it seems more intimidating.

Several years ago I took a shot at the oceans11 20 game on vacation and while waiting to post I saw a third overcall turn over middle pair. That was a gooood trip.

I'm not sure how visible it is in the photo, but here are my complaints:
* It's only about 2/3rds as full of fruit as I remember it used to be
* You can sorta see in the pic, the melon slices were all bruised and crushed, and looked like they had been sitting in water for hours
* only 3 pieces of pineapple, including a piece that was mostly the tough, center piece
* The tangerine slices were connected, mashed up, globby, and not at all sweet or ripe

This used to be one of the best things offered. This bowl was such a piece of crap that I threw out most of it.
Wow if that's the state of how the food service has been more recently, I take back what I said about thinking their food service was good overall. I've only been to Parx Poker a few times, and every time I was there I enjoyed the food I ordered. But it's been a while, and that looks nothing like the fruit salad I got.

I go to this room occasionally. In the past I enjoyed the Chinese place downstairs. I order it to go. Go back to the table and play. Then go back down to pick it up and eat table side. For some odd reason they wouldn't bring it up to the poker room.

However, during my last few trips it has always been closed.
The menu/food is terrible in the poker room and service is slow. I ordered a Asian chicken salad and didn't realize it was going to be fried chicken that was drowning in dressing.

They are also way understaffed for food and drink service.

The Noodle Bar downstairs has moved to the main casino food court. You have to walk over there to get it.

It's sad but true, the room is really good except for this.

I don't think management realizes how much longer people are willing to play (and generate rake) if there is a decent food option.

looking for advice on parx vs harrahs if i wanna play 1/2 or 1/3 and really grind/try to get better/win. basically, what are the games like at both places at certain times of day (afternoon and evening).

thanks for any help, looking through some posts in the harrahs thread, it seems like they think parx is a bit tougher.

They might be hoping to get you over to the main casino.

I wish theyd just ship the poker room over to the main casino and be done with the stepchild building.

If the goal is to get the poker players to bleed over to the more lucrative pit games (like it is in every other casino) then having it in the separate building really is pretty stupid.

Why are there no 3/6 or 4/8 limit games at Parx anymore?

They decided to change to 6/12. There has been a little sign on the check-in counter since July 1.

Most seem to think its a good change. Time rake at $4/down which is a significant discount over pot rake. Easier to get going short as its 1/2 time rake.

Is there a preferred hotel for Parx of the ones listed on their website (or other)? Obv. would prefer safe, comfortable, cheap and mini-kitchen (restaurants get old) if possible, but not critical. I'm hoping to head to Parx for the 10 days of Big Stax in October.
