Now that's great value. I would expect this one to be Huge... No way I'm missing this one.
Yep. I loved the idea of a satellite that wins you a seat into both, since a Satellite into the 300+30 would be a pretty bad value for the players. I'll be there on Thursday for that Satellite, and if I don't qualify, I may play in the Satellite to the 500+50, although I haven't decided for sure.

I love tournament play, unfortunately, I'm no where near bankrolled to play the tournaments with good structure.

Almost wish I didn't post here, so I'd have less competition

The one decent thing about the long drive down to AC is that the drive flies (usually) can the same be said for parx? for example if i go down next saturday night and drive back home around 6-7 AM, will it fly or should i expect traffic?
Whenever I've driven between Parx and Central NJ, there's been no traffic on the PA side. I haven't done so at 6-7 AM, but I've never seen any traffic on the way back taking Rt 1 until I was in NJ.

I've only been to Parx a handful of times though, as I turned 21 a couple months ago. I can't imagine traffic being a problem, though. I can't speak from experience about Long Island, but plan on hitting NJ traffic, not really much in PA.

None direct. I have the same problem. Anyone in NYC want to carpool? I don't have a car, but we could rent or zipcar or someone could have one and we'll cover all gas/tolls? I'm interested in leaving Saturday mornings, coming back Saturday nights (12-15hr session). I don't loan or borrow money. PM me if interested.

also I know this certainly has been posted before but can anyone let me know what high stake limit holdem games run with regularity on the weekends?
Traffic shouldn't be that bad around then (at least getting back to staten island, I haven't stayed that late in a while, and I've never made it to LI without wanting to shoot someone at any time) but I've shot down 1 from parx to SI between 2-6 without any issues.

I've seen "there's no hotel" as a negative for coming to Parx a bunch of times, so someone should clarify:

There are 3 or 4 hotels that are practically within walking distance, at least 2 of which offer a Parx Poker rate and are almost always available, often even for early check-in

i think no chinatown bus or even greyhound is a bigger deal breaker than no hotel

did the 10/10 rotation game go with 5/5 plo rotation? completely agree that the nl game must be bigger if playing rotation

Last week I started a 5/10nl 5/5 plo mix interest list every morning but we never got it started. I feel like it won't happen more than once a week bc most daytime 10/10 players don't like PLO and when certain people want to play NL, we are going to play NL

It says after Level 15 on the sheet. Sheet also says a dinner break but doesn't say how long. Assuming an hour, looks like day 1s will get done around 12:15 am.

Hello all. I'm a poker professional looking to begin playing in the Parx casino. Have never been there and have a couple questions.

What are the games that run for NLHE and what are the minimum and maximum in buy ins?

What are real estate prices in the area? Ill have 2 roommate and our budget is 2K to 2.5K for a house or apartment. We'd like to be within 10 miles of the casino.

Thanks in advance

1-2 and 2-5 NL run 24/7. Buyins are 60-300 and 200-1000, respectively. 10/10 NL runs a few times a week, with a 500-3000 buyin.

You should have no problem renting a place with that budget.

For the games you want, you want to go on a Tuesday - that is when you will see the most high limit games (some hold em, but many are a mix). Check bravo for what's going on other weekdays. Weekends have little limit action bc most of the regulars are in AC or not playing. There is a hotel right there (formerly a Marriott), now called InnPlace at Bensalem or something. You can get a room for 59 a night there with group code ParxPoker (see bravo for other details).

I grew up in Bensalem and drove to LI plenty. The worst traffic that you'll hit is getting on and off long island at your bridges of choice. The Jersey TP has traffic where it foolishly goes 6 lanes to 3 at the obvious times of day. Plan your trip so that you don't hit this near a rush hour and you'll be good.

TP to Rt 1 exit, 500 feet to 132 East and 1/2 a mile up, very EZ drive. All highways until the last mile.

Amtrak goes from NYC to Cornwell Heights, PA station in barely over an hour. From there its a 4 mile cab ride, where taxis are most likely waiting outside the station for customers.

It can't be much easier than that

Going to be freed up during the day on and off over the next couple of months.

When does the day crew get the 10/10 off, and on which days?

I am there by 11am every mon-fri and will start HU to get it going. The game has been going by 1230 or 1 most days but it should carry overnight at least a couple times a week during the Big Stax.

The NYC Amtrak only stops at Cornwell Heights twice a day in each direction. The times are not very convenient. Also it costs over $100 round trip, and it'll be closer to $200 if you book your ticket last minute.

This is the way to go, but it's a huge pain in the ass compared to taking a bus from the city to AC, Sands, or even Mohegan and Foxwoods

Is the Big Stax series being playing in the poker room or in a different area of the casino?

I was planning to head down on Friday night to play some cash games and am wondering how hard it's going to be to find an open seat. Sounds like the tournament is going to draw a lot of people and I'd hate to drive out there just to wait on line and not be able to get a seat if all/most of the cash tables are being used for the tournament.

It is mostly played in the next door area. There may still be longer lists than normal because of a shortage of dealers (rather than tables), but in general there haven't been any extravagant waits, Parx has managed things reasonably well.
