I live about 15 minutes away and when friends of friends are in town (and only the friends are staying over) they find a way to 'price match,' and you can usually say 'but A gave me ___ rate' and the other hotel will usually match it. Just make sure it's a reasonable number, a la priceline.

If you're feeling nitty, of course!

Not sure if this has been addressed before (I'm sure it has), but is there a reason why there is no tournament on Friday? With Harrah's Philly no longer keeping the 5k guarantee on their Friday tournament, I am now forced to drive to The Borgata on Friday's for their $300 tournament. It would be cool to see Parx do an afternoon tournament in the $150-$250 range.

I saw him - that whole table was insane. He cashed out with $9,200. In terms of one dealer, they were playing 'chicken'. Preflop raises were $100 with 4 callers.

I'm an idiot for not taking a picture and posting it here - totally unbelievable.

Any US Open Golfer sightings? Figure early in the week or this past weekend might be chance for them to check it out--got to be some poker players on tour?

Any upswing with spectators?

If you look at the tourney descriptions in the Bravo poker app they list the number if entries over the last 3 weeks.

Yeah I heard this as well from 2 credible sources. Insane.

I started at his stack, it was 8 piles of $100 chips stacked 10 high (8k)
10 stacks of $5 chips stacked 20 high (2k)

I had heard he cashed out $5,500 but the guy who told me this wasn't very sure, he may have pocketed or handed off chips to a buddy before getting to the cage.

He most certainly had > 9k at a 1/2 table. All the dealers couldn't confirm whether he had been there since Friday night or only on Saturday morning... None believed he was there all weekend though.

I was there around 10am whatever day that huge 1/2 stack was built. I had a friend playing the that game, she told me it was insane and to check it out. This is what I know

-it was insane with huge pots
-around 10:00am the player had a big stack, but it was only about $3000-$3500 (still huge for 1/2nl)

I then left but was there again that night and I regular at my table swore the guy had around $10,000 in from of him around 2:30 PM but thinks he only cashed out around $8000.

It seems the story is legit despite hearing some slightly different numbers everytime its told. It was not a mlong session, at least not when the huge stack was built , it was in around a 4 hour period not 30 hours or anything crazy like that.

The guy won a huge pot with 78o. PF it was 160 to go 4 ways. flop was 972r. not sure of the betting but the other guy with a big stack bet all 3 streets(turn Q and river was also a Q) including all in on river. Guy think for a little and calls and immediately tables 78 for the huge pot.

Strange that the other big stack would bluff 3 streets vs a guy who wouldnt fold all day.

The chip runner who also deals confirmed the guy bought in for 300 once. left with ~8700

I was wondering the same thing, although, I really wish they'd run a satellite to their Saturday tournament on Fridays.

Plus I figure a tournament around 100 dollars would help the 1-2 cash games get some extra traffic, but IDK about that.

If they were going to do a satellite for their Saturday tournament they should do it Saturday morning. I just wish they would put something in for Friday's.

Well there Saturday tournament is at Noon, so they really couldn't do anything decent that morning.

Either way, I do agree that they should have a Friday night tournament, but I'd prefer a satellite.

a satellite for a $230 tournament?

What would the buy in be? $23+10? Seems crazy and not worth it.

Fair enough, it could work with 10 minute blind levels if there was enough interest though. If not obv. it'd make no money for them, and not be worth it to run.

I was thinking 46 + some fee. Seeing as Parx tournament fees are pretty reasonable (10 dollars for the 60+10 bounty, 15 on the 80+25 bounty, 20 on the 100 tournament and 30 on the 200, -3 from prize pool for dealers in all) I don't think they'd do a 10 dollar fee for a satellite, but I do think they'd have to make blind levels really short. The thing is, if they can get 100 players, then that's 100*fees for them, which would probably only cover costs, plus 10 entrants for the next days tournament (an extra 300 in fees for the house.) The fees on satellites can be slightly smaller if they attract enough players. I know that some casinos do run satellites for like 22+3, but those are in the morning before the tournament. I'd think the main reason for it would be to boost attendance to their Saturday tournament, which I'd think is worth it if they can at least break even on running the satellite.

(Although obv. it may just be better for them to run a normal tournament that night, and maybe the reason they run no tournament is that they make more money when people play cash, and so they don't run a tournament on Fridays knowing that. I don't know the trends and stuff so everything I'm saying is based off complete non-sense estimates lol)

Out in the hinterland of the Midwest, there aren't many Friday night tourneys because its the big cash game night. Tourneys are a good way to pull people in the door M-Th and then hopefully stay for cash games once they bust out. Full room already on Fridays equals no need.

More needed if there is a local competition for rears in seats.

I would be fine with a Friday afternoon tournament.... It doesn't have to be at night.

Nice! A few months back I had asked a floor if it had been approved and he said yes, but he doubted they'd spread it.

Maybe the recent success at Sands changed their minds.

Big O sounds pretty cool. But don't they barely have one table of 5-0 PLO going most of the time? Do you think this will likely replace that one with the players trying this out instead? What size game do you think they'll be able to get going at Big O?
