Also if he's been poked for years then obviously I revoke my original statement since it's not like you're chasing him from the game for good or anything. Obviously I'd rather he be at my 2/5 table so I'm not complaining either way!

Thanks Lattimer. Always good to be careful when you are leaving casinos.

High limit regs and semi-regs unable to get boxes is a serious issue.

I've had situations where I've left casinos with quite a bit of money. I have a "ritual" I follow when I do it (anything over 2k).

Walk around, look at the roulette tables or so, look behind me. Go to the cashier and cash out. Walk through some slots or walk through pit, stop in bathroom, walk out, look around, and then proceed to go to my car, glancing behind me at least once before I walk through those doors into the parking lot. If at any time I feel weird or anyone is looking at me, I'd walk around the place a bit more or ask a guard to walk me to my car, but I've never needed to do that.

I've never had any issues, but reading about other people getting robbed walking out of casinos kind of made me nervous, especially for the relatively small amounts people are willing to rob you for.

No FAQ in that thread yet (but one is being worked on AFAIK).

Unless they've made changes to their policy, this is something new. I've paid for rooms at Borgata with comp dollars many times. parx, on the other hand, has now taken away my comp dollars twice when I've been unable to spend them quickly enough. And I'm there four to five nights per week.

Comps last 90 days, which is pretty standard for anyone concerned reading this.

(Yes I know you are still complaining about old things during the system changing over, dead horse is dead.)

Hi, I plan on visiting Prax for the first time tomorrow (friday, march 15). I recently took a job in my that actually places me closer to Prax then foxwoods. Anyway, I wondering what the comp rate and rake is for 1/2 and 2/5.

Furthermore, do they honor loyalty cards from other casinos?

If anyone has any other useful info, please share.

Comp is $1/hr at 1-2 and 2-5. Rake is 10% / $5.

I don't believe they do "status matching", but that's OK, because I'm not sure there are any benefits to status anyway, at least not in the poker room. Maybe you get some special treatment in the pits, not sure.

There are players I know personally that have boxes and don't even use them.

I do "the walk around" sometimes at the Borgata after giving up my box there.

The issue is that Parx doesn't have a layout that facilitates ducking folks who would like to follow you, especially at 3AM.

That being said, there is generally plenty of security around, and I've never felt menaced or threatened in any way.

Still, it's hard to forgive Parx for the lack of boxes, and overall security-poor layout and the risk this introduces. Nothing screams "awesome" like having the entire line at the cage -- and a few close 2/5 tables -- watch at 3AM as the cashier announces that you're going to be exiting the building shortly with several thousand dollars in cash.

They kind of did a poor job in the beginning to evaluate the players to see if they qualify for a box. They were giving them out to anyone in the beginning.. now they've tightened up on who qualifies. I think they should review the ones given out early an make room for players who really need it.

Agreed, I was basically laughed at for even asking. "..they have such big action now days.." Which is certainly true, 1 or 2 days a week.

I don't play a ton and if that was the reason it'd have been okay, but it was I didn't play "high" enough.

Stakes played should be part of the consideration.

True but I agree that they shouldn't be the only consideration. If you play all the time and the money you play with means something to you they shouldn't laugh in your face if you ask for a box.

Can we back off the hyperbole a bit? I severely doubt anyone "laughed in anyone's face."

But people who routinely need to carry large sums of money in and out of the casino are at a different level of risk than the smaller stakes players.

I think we all can agree that someone playing 1/2 should not qualify for a box regardless of how many hours he/she plays and how much the money "means" to him/her. A 10/10 or 15/30 player who regularly needs thousands on hand -or- a 1/2 player who also is a whale in the pits and risks thousands at a time would be a different story.

I guess I was thinking of my situation where I occasionally play 2/5 and walk out with 1500-2000 in cash. For high stakes players that's not much but that wouldn't bode well with me if I lost it.

That being said I don't feel the need to have a box. I rarely leave the casino later than 8 PM and at 6'2" I think most guys try to take better spots if they're looking to rob someone.

But for others I think they shouldn't feel weird about asking for extra protection with four figure sums of money. And just to make it clear I wasn't talking about a 1/2 player who wants to put away $500 haha

Buy in for 10/10 is 3k (why is the FAQ still wrong on that?)

Bring two bullets, maybe three just in case. Now have a good session, so pile a buyin or two on top of that. Now stand in line at 3am and cash out.

Dude I 100% agree that you guys should have priority and that you have way more money. How many boxes do they have? If they have like 10 then yeah asking for a box for 2000 is stupid but all I'm saying is they should at least explain "hey look the people were giving boxes to are putting much larger sums of money in them and we're gonna give then priority."

I'm sure the poster above wasn't literally laughed at but it probably was a condescending "no we obviously can't help you" kind of comment.

I haven't received any updates for the FAQ. If you have updates, just hit the "reply" button the FAQ post, copy to a PM, make your edits, and send it to me and I'll repost with your changes.

You can count them for yourself at the cage. Hundreds I think.

The high limit player pool is small enough that they should be able to easily accommodate them, as well as key 2/5 regs.

There has to be a lot of wasted boxes if they're out of capacity.

Yeah that's the only point I was trying to make (I love how I never realized the boxes were right there in plain sight haha). I don't know why I'm even commenting on this when I probably won't ever use a box but I just hate when employees (in general, not just at Parx or other casinos) act like you should be as knowledgable as them in a field that they're paid to be knowledgable in

There are approximately 100 boxes. There are easily 100 regulars just between 10-10+ and 15-30+. Of course, many of them don't have (or want) boxes, but I think this is probably a more difficult scarce resource problem than it's being portrayed as. There simply aren't enough boxes installed to meet demand.

I believe they review them periodically to make sure they are being used, but not how much is stored in them. I don't know how frequently.
