for the record, tonight it got started before 7, filled up by 9ish, briefly had a second table, and was still running almost full when I left at 0230.

I heard they are going to do a Top 100 hours promotion. Players that are among the top 100 hours played for the month are going to get $500 cash. This promo will replace the freerolls. Sounds good to me.

This would be boss imo.

What I find interesting re: Parx getting the BBJ was when I recounted this revelation to one of my supervisors (I work in another area poker emporium).

I was thinking "maybe this will send people our way who didn't like the BBJ."

One of our cocktail servers overheard and said "That sucks, we'll lose people."

I come at it from reading this forum, dealing with (ha!) poker players and being one myself that it was very possible that players who were equally close to both rooms who frequented Parx to save the buck and/or because of being philosophically opposed to the "lottery" aspect of the BBJ might start coming to the other place.

Whereas she, not a player and who only deals with players long enough to get them a drink, sees it as a big draw which would actually cause the opposite.

I guess we will see...

I've been hearing a rumor that they are considering offering $5/hr comps on Sat & Sun for the 15 game in an effort to revive it. That would be pretty sweet, imo. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

That sounds awful. I want a promo thats going to get all the rec players coming to put in more hours. Most rec players would insta-realize they have no shot at being in the top 100 and dismiss it. The rakeback promo was the nuts imo.

One more vote AGAINST the BBJ.

Horrible for the rake, horrible for the change to game dynamics (wasting time playing hands that would otherwise be folded/chopped), and I'm appalled at the prospect of incessant drivel about how big the BBJ is, how close this random other table was to winning it, and the horrible "OMG I had a BBJ hand!" or "OMG how could you fold that BBJ hand!" comments.

ahh an angle shooters paradise what happens when I give my card to someone else during the day..come play at night..or stay punched in an hour extra a day.

No thanks..

the rake back is a good idea, or freerolls. Or bonus comps..

I'm not sure if it would really really help..it can't hurt.

For someone that doesn't venture to the "casino" what are the options for the comps besides poker food/asian?

Rakeback is the best option.

Has the bbj been officially announced, or are these just "discussions"? If so, might as well add 2/4 lhe while your at it.

Ari, if you are still reading this forum please reconsider this... rakeback is a dream compared to this....

All,

I plan to drive down tomorrow night for the 7pm tourney plus some 1/2 action.

Only been to Parx one time before, so a little help please:

1) How many runners on a typical Tues night tourney?
2) Do I need to register for a players club account before I can enter the tourney? If so, where do I do that--downstairs near the entrance, or up in the poker room?

Thanks.

Does the 6/12 OE run pretty much all day on Saturdays? I will be in the area and may stop in for a while mid-afternoon if it will be going.

You do need to have a players card to play the tournies, I believe. I think you can get them at the front desk, but I don't know for sure.

6-12 OE runs from morning to late night at least, and sometimes all night. This is true every day, including saturdays.

Regarding the BBJ...

Just play 10/10 and other time games until the jackpot gets real big then play 2/5.

Man you guys are slow.

I'm at work and just for fun decided to check the bravo for Parx. Low & Behold there is an 8/16 O8 game running at 9:15am. What the...! I haven't been to Parx in a few weeks. Is this a regular thing now? I recall seeing (and being on) lists for this before, but have never seen it actually run. Arrg, and here I am stuck at work. Sigh.

Hmm, I wonder if I can sneak out of the office a bit early today. Leaving at 9:30am isn't too early, is it?

If this were an option for many people then I'm sure parx would have more then one table of it running at all times

Pretty awesome that Parx has 2-3 2/5 tables running at noon on a Tuesday.

Borgata has timed rake for 2/5 right? Would be nice if Parx could do that as well

Yea borgata does timed rake...I completely agree. I feel money gets drained at Parx 2/5 from the rake.

what chips are used in the 6/12 omaha games? 5's and 1's? or do they have 2's or 3's or something?

The only 6/12 omaha they have is a split game with Stud8.
It's also a "2/3 kill" to 10-20.

Game plays pretty soft. Buy in for 2 racks of blues ($2 chips) and you are well situated.
$4 time/ half.

Occasionally they get 8/16 O8, but I've never been lucky enough to catch it running.

When does the 8/16 O8 run? Is there a specific day or time that it usually gets off at? How often and when does the 15/30 OE game run as well? Played the 15/30 O8 and Borgata, wish it would become a staple game at a closer casino. What a great game it was at that level. 6/12 IMO is a bit of a waste of time. Bigger game while not going nuts into 75/150 land would be wonderful. The 10/20 OE game used to go every Tuesday, but it seemed to die off last few times there.

I think 15/30 oe will keep gaining interest, especially over the tournament series. Just come and get on the interest list. Most likely could run early and midweek

The 8/16 O8 ran last tuesday, but I think that was just a fluke. It broke at about 6:00pm. I asked the floor guy 'Vlad' if this was running regularly and he said it ran four days a week. However I haven't even seen a list for it since so I think he was being optimistic at best.

According to the Bravo app, there is a 15/30 OE running now (Fri afternoon) and I've seen it off and on at other times. I think you need to get lucky and show up at the right time but someone who is more of a regular than me will know better.
