4/8 is full of really solid expert play. Make sure you bring your A game.

There is a giant chasm between these two games.

I'm going be in town for a couple weeks for the holiday and was wondering how frequently the 15/30 and 30/60 game go? I've seen Tuesdays are a busy day, and I figure the weekends lose steam to the borgata. Is that accurate? any other typically busy times? Thanks

M-F the 15 game gets off by about noon, and runs past midnight to the wee hours or even all night. Sat and Sun has been very dead lately, sometimes it doesn't even go. If people start it short, generally other people show up and it fills in within an hour or two.

The 30 mainly runs on Tues and Wed from mid afternoon until late night, but depending on who's around it can run other weekdays as well.

MacGuy5 was being quite sarcastic. The 4/8 is a bunch of old nits during the day. 3 betting and opening light is rare. More than once, I've been the brunt of critisism for "raising so damn much." A fair number of hands are chopped. Nights/weekends (if it even goes) can loosen it up a bit but family pots are the rare exception even then.

The 6/12 isn't Omaha alone, but O/E. However the Omaha half can be quite loose, especially in the evenings. I've seen a few 50+ BB pots and don't play regularly at all. I wish I could though. The stud-8 half is a completely different matter with a lot of chopped pots where the the winners split $6.

Am I correct in that I've seen an 8/16 Omaha game once or twice lately or was it a mistake on the bravo system? How was that game?

You're correct, there has been an 8/16 O8 only game running recently. I can't report on game quality, however.

I've noticed the same thing. The O8 half on weekends can get pretty loose/aggressive. The stud 8 half (for the most part) is pretty tight/passive.

I'm surprised that Parx floor would spread an 8/16 O8 game and the 6/12 OE.
Good to see that they would be accomidating though...

Hey everyone. I am a regular at harrahs chester, but after some really sick beats and very swingy sessions I am looking into a change of scenery. How do you all like playing at parx? How would you compare it to playing at harrahs? Do any of you play at delaware park? If so, out of all three, which do you prefer most? I am a 1/2 player btw. Thanks for any info you can pass along

It seems to me, quite a few players(myself included) check the bravo a few times a day. If the 15 game gets started, people will filter in..might not be the best game, or full with a big list. But it will go.

Or even if there's no game I'll trek on over when there's 6-7 on the list (I will play shorter than that but there's always 2-3 no-shows). Last Saturday there were 0 names on the list at noon & 1 in the evening, wtf. Hopefully it will go this week.

1-2 games are pretty much all the same. Sometimes they are action filled, sometimes nitty, but there are several tables you can always change to.

Parx is quieter and more isolated than Chester. Parx is much bigger than both Chester and DP, poker wise. DP has more tourney action, from what I can gather.

Particularly at 1-2, most people just like whatever is closest, because it just doesn't matter much otherwise.

Oh, except that Parx strictly enforces a "no bad beats" rule. Not sure if you'll prefer that.

That is essentially what I meant. If a few people get the game started short, other people check bravo, see the game running, and come in, and eventually the game fills. If they don't start the game, people check bravo, see no game running, and don't even bother to come in or put their names on the list. Self-fulfilling prophecy.

Parx is the nicest room. Chester is simply a bit "ghetto", even though I play there once in a while. I don't really play much anymore (mostly only late night when I have a few drinks in me). Del Park is "ok" but it's 45 minutes for me to get there and just not worth it.

The Borgata is by far the nicest of all 4 if you don't mind the ride. Parx is a close 2nd. Most of the 1-2 games are similar, but the games at Chester can get particularly loose from what I've noticed, while its all dependent on the players, it just seems to me that the games at Chester get more wild more often.

Yeah, I've seen some nasty bad beats there. In fact, the last time I played there it was 6am or so and we were all just raising 30-50 preflop (2/5 game) and a particularly nasty hand came up. I had Q5 and it flopped Q/3/4 while in mid position 3 way. UTG bet 90, I called, player behind me called. Turn was a 5. UTG checked, I checked, player behind checked. River was a Q, UTG checked, I bet 200 to look like a steal, player behind folded, UTG shoved for 800 total. I called and he flipped Q4 for the 2nd full and I scooped.

Just wild games there. Not sure why I told that story but it stuck out in my mind in particular of how ridiculous it can be.

I've only played a couple of Sundays but I haven't seen any chopped $6 pots in either game.

So was this Rakeback program a one time deal or will we see it happen like every 6 months like the Freeroll? It's obviously not a recurring monthly thing.

The floor guys told me they will look at the numbers for November and make a decision as to whether or not it is worth it for them to do it again and how often.

I suppose I miss spoke. What I should have said was (in the stud half) it often happens that in a split pot, the winners end up splitting the antes and take back all thier own bets netting three or four dollars each. Or they split the antes plus a bet or two from people who came in and folded on 4th street. I'll admit that "splitting $6" is a bit incorrect, but the pots are small compared to the omaha half hour. YMMV.

Two friends and I are going to be at Parx Saturday evening to start/play a 5-0 PLO game. We plan on being there at 8:00 and playing until late.

New news:

* Wifi is now available. (Hopefully they have it set up so that no one can slow everyone else down by streaming netflix)
* Starting next week (hopefully), comps will no longer have to be activated, you just use whatever you have accrued
* Also starting next week comps will last 90 days before expiring, up from 60 currently (note that I forgot to verify this one, so take it with a grain of salt)

Yeah awesome changes.

Only thing that could be a little dangerous about the cards having comps already active is that the noodle bar doesn't ID you when you pick up your meal there. I can't remember the steakhouse doing that either. They should make it like Borgata where you have to present your ID every time you use your comps.

Being a reg at parx, I typically log around 100 hrs monthly, playing 4-5 hr sessions five or six nights per week. I made sure to reach 100 hrs in November with the rake-back promotion. I knew the promotion details from Day 1, and I'm in the poker room almost nightly, but I completely spaced on collecting my rake-back. Fortunately, at 11:30pm last night, I happened to hear an announcement that there was only a half hour remaining to claim the rake-back. Another player at my table, a guy who's there every night and likely had $400 coming to him, did not hear the announcement. When the subject of rake-back came up at the table around 1am, he mentioned that he'd yet to claim his. I told him to check with the floor, because an announcement had been made, and sure enough, the floor told him it was too late. I personally think this stinks...there were a bunch of employees standing around doing absolutely nothing, and all they had to do was hand this guy a sheet of paper and let him collect his rake-back. It's not like he wasn't there, and it's very likely that he was involved in a hand during the announcement at 11:30. I understand he had two 12 hr windows, but it's not like there were constant reminders, and it's not like it was Dec 1st and 2nd. Why wait 10 days to allow players to collect? So that a portion of them can forget and parx can keep there money? seems pretty dirty to me, but I'm not surprised at anything parx does, especially after erasing our comp dollars.
