it is great to have players like that at your table

just yawn, change up your play & wait to get them

they might as well play their cards face up or have "poker nerd" tatooed on their foreheads

I'm not sure if you're serious. This is obviously bad for the game. Sure you can adjust but do you want fish to see some internet kid doing range calculations on his iphone?

is it bad for the game? yes

however, the only person you can control is yourself so if other people want to act like jackasses, you just need to roll with it

in a perfect world, we would beat those players with a rubber hose to teach them to keep their calculations in their head

anyway, i would likely be aggravated after a while also and might even start calling them out on it until they got up and left

Actually you can control them. Just pull them aside or meet up with them when they go to the bathroom. They want to be accepted by other good poker players so they will probably listen to you and recognize the error of their ways.

does parx have a poker room rate?

Over the last week I've heard multiple players complaining about the strategy talk at the tables, including a drunk guy that was donating a few nights back. It's so bad for the games. Just speak up and say "too much strat at the table" and hopefully they'll get the point.

completely agree

Parx is a great place to play poker with players who drink and like to have fun which is a great opportunity

Any Parx regulars that know Ari, do you know if he still regularly checks in here? Sent him a pm last week but doesn't look like he has logged on in a while. Thanks.

Does anyone have an estimate of how many runners to expect in this Saturday's noon ($230) tournament? How long do the regular Saturday tournaments usually last?

Thanks!

They get around 100 runners and last 6-7 hours

So I was at Parx last night and playing some 1/2 before the daily bounty tournament. When I was about to register for the tournament, there were only about 31 players at around 7pm... I think Parx needs to do a better job advertising these tournaments and making everyone more aware that it exists.

I ended up not registering because there weren't enough players that would make the $ worth it for me.

what do you expect for a Tuesday night? 150 runners?

anyway, Parx could advertise the Tuesday night tourney on TV and i would be surpised if the 31 who showed up would double up to 62

just take Tuesday nights off

I'm pretty sure he was talking about the Monday night bounty

It's 105+20+25(bounty)

The Tuesday night tourney actually DOES (usually) get a nice turnout. Easily >62 that you mentioned

Yeah, they just started the Monday night bounties maybe two months ago? It was averaging around 80-120 but because of the WPT they dropped it off the radar for a few weeks, maybe that's why there weren't many players.

The Tuesday ones usually always get over 100, especially when it was the double stacks, the one I played last Tuesday which was a double stack got 250 I believe. That was the most I've seen in awhile for one of these tournaments. I'm hoping Parx starts stepping up their marketing game with their daily tournaments, would love more runners for these.

Not that I know of any particular marketing area they are neglecting but I can say I see more of their advertising than any other area casino atm as a regular joe driving around and watching tv. Especially now that they started advertising during Phillies games.

I believe the best way to get there is to take the market line subway north to Frankford then take the bus to Parx. I don't know which line it is but look it up on SEPTA. I did that when my car broke down. It takes a long time but it is cheaper than paying a cab obviously.

From SEPTA's website:

Located in Bensalem, PA; take Bus Route 50 or 130 seven days a week. Route 20 provides service after 9:30 p.m. daily. Route 150 provides limited service Monday through Saturday.

You can use Google Maps to point to Parx and use wherever you want as a starting point and change it to "By Public Transit" and it will give the times and various ways to get there from anywhere via SEPTA.
