It isn't tilting, it's just unenjoyable to have to listen to constantly.

hmm, after going to parx a few weeks ago and then harrah's last week, I was starting to think that the 3/6 game at harrah's was better than the 4/8 at parx (the game I was in was beyond horrid).

Last night went back out to Parx, played the 4/8 and it was decent. Very low aggression, some nitty periods, but ~4 to the flop on average and some willing stations and easy reads. Doesnt get the juices flowing like a good 8/16 game with $300 average pots, but served its purpose.

The regs (everyone but me) said the 8 went the other day. All commented, including the dealer what aceholes play the 6/12 OE game.

It will do while I live PA the next few years as an occasional player

And almost forgot, got attempted angled for the first time in PA. I had top pair or an overpair in position. On the river, the villian checked and immmediately put out an anticipated call saying "two pair". I just looked at him and put out my value bet. He was clearly trying to get a check behind.

Perhaps master the art of conversation and talk about something else?

Too rec players chasing the bbjp are there to have a good time while calling your raise with suited three-gappers. Chat them up. Some of them are actually interesting people.

Thanks for the silly, condescending response about the art of conversation, as if live regulars on this site are such socially skilled people that should be telling me how to handle myself at the table. I'm quite certain I'm a lot less socially awkward and mute than your average person in this forum.

People are obsessed with mentioning the BBJ/asking the dealer to give them one, this aspect isn't going anywhere no matter what you do.

The OE regs are (ahem) 'characters' for sure. But, I've noticed the last few times I've played that the game is very beatable, especially the O8 half.
A few Saturdays ago there were three games going after 6PM.

I'm really not sure why 8/16 LHE hasn't become a regular game.
Maybe when the room moves over ?

I'm no reg, but I'm not surprised if the dealers don't like that game. Typical situation: board is rainbow 2 3 5 7 Q, four hands are shown down including A238 and 4699... people not even in the hand are shouting, guy with 4699 calls the nuts high but doesn't realize he has the low also... guy with A238 of course thinks he has the low.

Then again, that's O8 pretty much anywhere. Wish people not in the hand at showdown would just STFU.

I haven't played in that game for a few months, but I always thought the stud8 was the easier half: super duper weak passive on 3rd and 4th street.

I ended up in the OE game last night. I didn't see any real bad behavior. I"think" worst flare ups I saw were knowing exagerations that the other players half laughed at. easy to see how rough they can be on a dealer though they did go easy on a younger guy that was clearly nervous in the game.

It still isn't the most enjoyable game for me as my know how in stud is low and playing occasionally when the mrs gets to town means its not likely to get better.

Especially in O8, the dealers make frequent mistakes.

I don't like shoutfests either, but once the cards are tabled, it's the right of anyone at the table to make sure that the board is read correctly and the pot is awarded correctly.

Note that I didn't say "it's the responsibility" of anyone at the table, tho some would also argue that point as well.

It was great to see five 10/10's going last night, but it seemed like there were a lot of complaints about the daisy chain of must-move games. Players were constantly being told to move, and it really disrupted the flow. It was suggested by several players that perhaps having just a single must-move game feeding into several main games would be a better system for everyone, including the staff.

That was how it was originally when the room first opened, but the only game it really ever affected was the 15-30 LHE, and the first time the main game broke while one of the later games stayed full, they bitched about it. The hope was that the original way would lead to table selection, but since it has been rare to have even three games for any real length of time, I think the current system probably works best for that game.

Now that we have another game getting 3+ tables, it probably would make sense to switch that game up, but since it's likely to only be an issue for another day or two while the WPT runs, I doubt anything will change. But who knows, or maybe next time.

Looks like they listened to you (or someone). The 4 tables of 10/10 tonight were 2 main games, and 2 chained must moves (and later just one) feeding them both.

The 10/10 situation would need to be changed if they continued to get 4+ tables going. But I guess for one week it's not the end of the world. The other night I got stuck at a not so great must move with no chance at making a main game because of the way it was set up, meanwhile players who got seated at the other must an hour or so after were making it to the main games first one after another. It was just a frustrating situation, really bad system with more then three games.

So after about 10 visits to Parx, most in the last week, here are my thoughts. I know I'm late to the game, stopped playing after black friday and just now starting to play poker again consistently.

Pros:
-Poker room is run really well, dealers are top-notch and super friendly
-Waits aren't too bad, considering I was there during WPT and lists were 30+ the longest wait was probably 20 minutes, often times 10 minutes or less
-The games are weak-passive which is good if you're not afraid to get aggressive
-Drink service is top-notch
-Casino is situated in a good area with lots of options for food/drink on the way in as well as banks/atms close by for most major banks

Cons:
-Poker room is not situated in main casino
-Food at Parx East is mediocre to atrocious, noodle bar is bland but manageable... food in the poker room is terrible
-No incentive to grind there, earning $1/hr to spend at a place I only go for poker is okay I guess but the only place I could think to spend it is Chickie's. Not to mention the way you have to activate/lose points is just embarrassing that they would run the operation that way
-rake up to $5 just seems high

I'll keep thinking, I feel like I had a bigger list of cons but am drawing a blank. To me it seems like none of this will change because they know they have enough regs in proximity to their location to run the games this way.

Mike Sexton was on the Preston & Steve morning show (93.3FM) this morning promoting the WPT final table on Wednesday. He had nice things to say about Parx, especially how big the room is and how there are more active tables going on here than any room in Vegas at any given time.

I think you can catch a rebroadcast of the show via the Preston & Steve podcast if you're interested.

I noticed that on Bravo - how are they getting this amount of high limit action? I defi itely have to hand it to them, pretty impressive.

Going down to be at Parx today, curious if there is any way to get tix for the final table taping, wouldn't mind stopping in just to check it out?

to whoever posted about the good drink service on the previous page, i've found it to be horrible.

i rarely get anything to drink. last wednesday night i got there around 1 a.m. i sat down with a headache and immediately asked for the waitress button to be activated. it was. she got there 15 minutes later. i asked for a water. she was out, said she would bring it back. at 2 a.m., i got up, walked over the bar, asked the same waitress for a water and got it. she didn't even remember me asking her for one.

i don't blame her. the room was modestly busy and i think there were only two waitresses working.

thursday night, same thing happened to another player.

they weren't prepared for the cash game action the tournament brought.

Methinks the positive comments about service had to do with eye nourishment, not quenching thirst or hunger.....

I bring my own drinks precisely because I hate tipping them for their awful service. If I want to get a beer I just go to the bar myself on the way back from the restroom.
