Completely boring nitfest, one player there the entire time who would qualify as a drooler. No heavy preflop action, no one spewing light, almost no table chatter or anything entertaining. Really hope this was an aberration.
I think you had a bad table. I was there Friday early evening, and players were stacking off with A8 on AQ642 boards, calling 3-bets preflop with J7, and rebuying when they busted.

Saturday afternoons might be more nitty, or the more action-oriented players may be in AC chasing that mega bad beat jackpot.

Just to clarify this stupid policy, the comp dollars may expire 60 days from when you earn them, but they expire 24 hours (i think) from when they're activated.

So if you earn comp dollars yesterday and decide you're hungry today, you might estimate that a hamburger costs $7. So you need to make the effort to ask a person at a desk to activate $7. Then walk to the cafe and you see the hamburger costs $6. Now unless you spend that remaining dollar, it's gone in 1 day, not 60 days. You can't undo any extra money that you've activated.

I really wish they'd just do it like the Borgata, where you simply swipe the card and it deducts what you're using.

Game looked decent at the beginning with one drooler at the table who was deep, but sagged, and by then I was resigned to bouncing soon so didn't bother with table change. Prob should have, but oh well. FWIW none of the tables anywhere near me looked all that active either. I would guess Friday is the much better action night.

I walked over to Showboat and played there til 1 am. Room had about 11-15 tables running. People were there for 2 reasons. 1. The BBJ was 600k. 2. Showboat offers a free buffet for only an hour of poker play.

This was the first time I ever walked into the showboat(and the last) and I recognized at least 20 people that I see at parx regularly. Unless these people were driving an hour for a free buffet, I'd say the BBJ is a huge draw to poker players. I could car less about it, but it's the only thing everyone at my table was talking about all night. At least 4 dealers commented on the fact that the actually table we were playing on hasn't been used in over a year, basically meaning the room was extra crowded due to the BBJ and more tables were in play.

Parx will have a BBJ when the poker room gets moved to the new building. It doesn't make much sense to add it before the move as the casual pit gambler won't walk outside to parx east to try to hit it. When poker is in the same building, it will attract pit players who otherwise wouldn't step foot ino a card room.
wow I am really stunned to hear that. To me, the BBJ is basically like winning the lottery. I have never gone to a casino because they have the BBJ. The chances of hitting it are soooooooooo low.

Parx : Pokerstars :: BBJ casinos : cereus network

There is a reason why the former top two online sites did not have a BBJ. People need to realize that the BBJ funds can be used for whatever promotion/marketing as they please. Overlay in a tourn and can't meet the guarantee prize pool? Well it's coming out of the BBJ. So essentially, the cash game players would be paying for these promotions.

Just go into the Revel poker room thread and scan the last few pages. Even their poker room manager talks about the Revel poker room being slower at times bc of the BBJ is at record highs at 4 AC properties.

It definitely is a huge draw to the casual player.

I was also shocked to see so many familiar faces from parx when I played at showboat, but like another poster said, I was there on a thursday so maybe these people start their weekends a bit early

BBJ opinion aside you are going to have to show us the math on $19/h/player.

The money the BBJ takes off of the table is one thing, but listening to everyone above the age of 45 crack a joke about it/ask the dealer for help hitting it EVERY SINGLE HAND is excruciating to have to sit and listen to. It gets so bad at times it comes off as pathetic.

His figure of $150-$175 hourly was likely his estimate of rake plus tips plus BBJ. He'd be pretty much right if they added a BBJ, you're looking at 1/2 NL likely having a $3 average rake, a $1.25 average tip, and $1 BBl, for $5.25 coming off the table per hand x 30 hands hourly = $157.50 hourly off of the table. If you divided this by 10 players, that's $15.75 as an hourly "share" from each player at the table.

Divide by 9 not 10; parx only plays 9 per table.

BBJ should cost a 1/2 player $3-4 per hour. 30-36 hands an hour x $1/hand divided by 9 players. Short handed games will obv cost more per hour.

25 - 30 hands / hour.

30 is a reasonable estimate for hands per hour, and 27-32 is a perfect range. It's never going to be 36 unless the game is completely awful, and 25 is very very low and shouldn't happen.

It's not a state law. They give free alcohol to all other gamblers at PARX except poker players. Also, Chester gives free alcohol for all games INCLUDING poker. So no it's just PARX being cheapos. No state laws.

Yeah I suck. Just from my experience at rivers and Erie they charge for drinks every where if I remember correctly. Sorry.

Played yesterday and won my biggest pot in a long time. Sat at a 2-5 table at 12:04 PM with $1000 and in my first orbit won $2019 pot. AIPF with AA against two opponents and held. Tipped the dealer the 19 bucks and spent the next 5 hours at a nice, relaxing, fun table. I was in the Carolina Panthers jersey sitting in seat 3, table 7 from 12 - 5. Ill be back tomorrow, trying not to spew back the AA winnings.

Very disappointed in the upcoming tournament series. I see only one 1 in 10 satellite, and it's being held at the same time as the $500 bounty event. That's just horrible. Secondly, the juice on the $500 bounty event is a whopping $100! If you look at bounty tournaments held at The Borgata, the juice always coincides with the buyin, not the buyin + the bounty. Lastly, the 1k event really ought to have a better structure for such a high buyin. No 250-500 level? If you're buying into an expensive tournament, you want to feel like you're getting your money's worth. Instead, I feel like we're being gouged.

The bounty event is $500+$500+$50 not $100. As far as satellites, I'm pretty sure they will be offering different levels of single table satellites.

Glad to see they changed that. It would still be nice to see more 1 in 10 satellites, and even a 1 in 5. The series starts today and there's been no mention of anything additional to what's listed.

Registration is at main poker cage: when you get table assignment, half the tables are in main poker room, half the tables are down hallway fifty feet in the top half of clubhouse, very easily marked everywhere, with table numbers above table. They did a great job there yesterday with over 500 entries, it seems the tourneys will be/END UP in that right hand room as you come up the escalator. But it was packed there yesterday, good stuff. GOOD LUCK !!
