min is prob 150. Max is all the money in the world since it be limit yo. I'd say 2 racks are sufficient. Sorry to miss you last week, I'll try to get there earlier this week.
Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ in OP Quote

Correct. Min $150, most people buy in for 1-2 racks of red, having blacks in your pocket for rebuys is standard.

Is there ever a time that there is a good 4/8 game that's not filled with the 55+ crowd ? I feel like I am in a retirement home when I sit with them ....

Not really. I've played that game here and there, usually waiting for a seat in the OE game. I'm 38 and always the youngest at the table.
Anyway, these are the folks that usually play 2/4 (or 3/6) in other poker rooms.
Unfortunately, they don't have any other option @ Parx.

I'd really like to see either a 4/8 game with a kill, or even 6/12.
8/16 has just never taken off, not enough interest.

I used to try sitting in the 4/8 while waiting for a seat in other games, even though it is a good game to be in play wise, the pace KILLED me. Player 1 will take 15 seconds, then check, next person will now look around, take 20 seconds, look at their cards, and CHECK. Great game if you are chill about time though.

Cashed in the freeroll for 75th place woo hoo!

I only won 2 hands that went past the flop...and that was because I was all-in preflop.

Having antes from pretty much the start really sucked...plus people tanking and figuring out math...ended up playing like 10 hands an hour. Was like playing in a super turbo. I didn't lose any medium or big sized hands and was STILL all-in or folding almost the entire friggin tournament.

Just bitter because I spent 5 hours not actually playing poker. But at least I cashed so I guess I should just stfu.

What seems to be the problem with playing with 55+? Do they smell? Do they get drunk and rowdy at the table? Are they always on their phone in the middle of hands? Are they always running their mouths? Are they always putting other players down?
So why don't you share your reasons for not wanting to play with the 55+ crowd.Myself,I'd rather sit and play with the nutcases from "One Flew Over The Cukoo's Nest",then play with a bunch of 20 something know-it-alls.

When you have your SS checks coming in (or deposited to a debit card if you're hip to that) you can afford to play 4/8 at as leisurely a pace as you'd like, and yet somehow with the utmost regard for saving bets. It's the nittiest of the nitty, the daytime 4/8s. I'd rather play with the most talkative, drunk, loose, think-they-know-it-alls, than the savvy, hard-nosed seniors who peddle the nuts and don't have much gamboool. But hey, if you can beat the rake there, more power to ya!
(I'll be at the table full of hockey fans who drink cheap beer and check/call with any cards as long as they have 1 out)

So what your saying is the slow play at your table allowed you to fold into the money. Congrats.

Some good points made about my 4/8 comments, I forgot about the unbeatable rake, which further encourages me to look for a higher limit game. Whats the next jump up in lhe from 4/8 ? Is there something in between 4/8 and 15/30 that goes off regularly, 6/12 8/16 ?

Nothing goes off in between,The 6/12 (half-kill) OE game runs all the time.
Lots of gamboool in these games.Which leads to my question.
I play this game as a break from NL.I have played alot of each online and have a good grasp of the strategy of each game.
I have a very small sample size of the game at Parx (12 6 hour sessions).
Results have been mixed.Couple winning sessions mixed with a few losing ones.
Is this game beatable in the long term? Do people beat this game on a regular basis ? Since most hands go to showdown I play on the passive side and wait for a real hand to get involved and look for scoop opportunity's.

It would be wise for you to learn O/E - that's Omaha 8 and stud hi/lo

Wouldnt take much........plenty of reading out there

then get in that game, play tight for a while and get your bearings........paying attention to some of the plays some others make....

Parx 6/12 O/E is awesome....right up there with the 8/16 O8 at The Orleans......

I would be willing to play 8/16, but every time I've started a list on weekends, it usually dies around 4-5 names. I think it was going semi-regularly when the room first opened. Maybe there would be more interest in 6/12 considering it's a smaller step up than 4/8 ?

It's almost impossible nowadays to get any limit game going between 4/8 & 10/20. AFAIK, there's not even a 4/8 or 5/10 game in AC anymore.
99.9% of the $200-400 buy-in crowd is playing 1/2 NLHE...

Is the Omaha limit? Whats a comfortable buy in for a fish? Is the game all regs, or do I have a shot at drawing a weak table? PS- I would be a complete donk at this game but I think they are fun games and would like to learn how to play them.

Omaha is limit.
Buy in for 400(2 racks of blue).
Plenty of regs but reg does not mean good. You will still have a good table most likely.

Im gonna say it. I would be in favor of parx starting a bbj. The room has leveled off a bit and i think it needs something new to get some new blood in the room. Im sure when the poker room is moved to the casino there would be a jackpot. Im going to take some heat for this but i would be all for it. Look at the buzz borgata has right now. Imagine how many tables parx would have running with a jackpot off 500k plus

Borgata doesn't just have a 529k jackpot, but probably have a 300k and 150k in reserve. Just think of all that money that's been taken off your tables. I'd rather just have the few hundred i've paid back.

2 racks of blue for a buyin at 6/12 1/2 kill?

That would be comfy

I usually get away with 1 rack.........but have 100 ready behind.....

Dont want to get too far under 100......as it might cost you in a huge pot should you win it.........

Those big ones do make your night - yessir.

Good luck with the venture, bro - if you wade in.........be brave.

How about the same amount of the money taken off the table? Parx rakes 2/5 and 1/2 harder than borgata does.

Does the rake go down if parx had a bbj ? It would only increase the drop.

Does an increase in players offset the decrease(overall) money on the tables?
