This is fairly inaccurate. You really shouldn't bother copypasting that review as it is obviously quite dated, the faq in the first post is much more accurate as BriMc pointed out.

Thinking about driving down on Saturday morning...can anyone tell me what I can expect the traffic to be like from Manhattan at that time? Thanks in advance.

Should be easy little volume. Tolls are high. Does anyone know the round trip total tolls these day from NYC? I'm thinking it's $30+.

Depends on where in NYC. From Manhattan its a bit less than 30. From Brooklynn queens or long island its nearly 40 unless you take one of the free east river bridges.

This is assuming you have easy pass, if paying cash add 20 percent.

I was mentioning his absence from this forum, which previous to the comp situation was pretty frequent. For those who don't seek him out in person, it was nice to be able to communicate through this medium. Seemed like a strange coincidence that he was not on here to answer questions all of a sudden.

That is all...

+1

I have still yet to meet Ari myself, but that's probably just a product of being there at night.

Put in a short session yesterday at $1/2 NL just to get a feel for the games and Parx itself. Have to say I'm pretty impressed from what I saw, though I only got a small glimpse of the entire operation.

$1/2 NL games seemed very soft as expected. Everybody played their hands very passively even when it was obvious their hand was good. Slowplaying also seemed to be everybody's main strategy, even in the absolute worst of situations. Anyways, the plan is to slowly build up a live roll and eventually try to become a regular in the $2/5 game. Unfortunately I work 40 hours a week so I probably won't be able to play more than a few times per month. That probably means I'll be months away from being able to play regularly in those games unless I add my owns funds to boost the bankroll. We'll see. I can't imagine that $2/5 is a particularly big leap in skill level. Just a few more regulars who have an idea of what they're doing. Or maybe I'm selling the player base short and everybody is an experienced online player who flocked to Parx after Black Friday. Any regs in those games want to chime in?

Your analysis is basically spot on for both games. The 2/5 will play a bit deeper bc of the buy-in structure. It wouldnt hurt to game select a little as a way to maximize your profits, especially since you'll only be playing a few times a month.

I don't want to say that no game selection is needed at 1/2 but none really is, unless you're at a table full of old guys in the afternoon who don't play anything but the nuts.

Sounds like you have a good, basic plan for moving up. Best of luck to you.

Heading down from Boston on Friday March 2nd, should be there around 2pm.

When does the 0/5 PLO start? Can't wait to play that game and drink the bar out of Yuengling and straddling every hand.

(the PLO is officially attracting out-of-staters :-)

Not sure is you're aware, but the Parx PLO event is on that Friday, starting at 11am.

Is there anyway to get the 15/30 game changed from $12 an hour to $4 max up to $300? The time/tips is crippling my w/r to the tune of $15 an hour.

I got a few questions for you guys. How easy is it to get to/from Parx Casino from the Philadelphia airport?

My dilemna is I'm flying into philly to go to AC for a weekend, my flight leaves to go home from philly at like 5pm monday. I'd really like to get to Parx early and put in a 4 or 5 hour session before I leave but obviously don't wanna miss my flight home. Would this be possible? Is there a regular shuttle? Cab rates decent? I'm not even exactly sure how far away it is but would love to check out the 10-10NL game here. What's the min/max for that game?

Unfortunately, PHL is on the opposite side of the city from Parx. It's probably a 30 min car ride from one to the other with no significant traffic, and you're going to be trying it during the day, right before rush hour. It's doable, but it probably won't be quick or cheap.

I'm not exactly sure when the 10-10 game runs (there is a link around here somewhere that shows game history hour by hour), but I'd guess it is also unlikely that it will be running for the entirety of your 4-5 hour session if you need to leave by 3:30pm to make it to the airport. The first post in this thread gives info on the min/max.

If you're just looking to kill time, you might want to hit up Harrah's Chester instead. It's right near the airport. But obviously that doesn't help if you're specifically looking to check Parx out (which I definitely recommend), and I don't know for sure what games they will have running at that time.

I've been checking out bravo poker app and it's been opening around 11 each morning it seems. Just looked up public transportation times and its like 2 hour trip so might not be possible unless I get a ride from someone on here. Just put up a marketplace thread for a ride will pay cash, PM if you'd be there on 2/13 and wouldnt mind a break in cards for a hour or so.

Count me against this, in a practical sense.

First of all, you're dreaming about getting $4 at $300. The 1-2 tables are $5 at what, $50? That's probably the best you could hope for, and more likely it would be $6 at 60 or some such.

Second, $6/half for a full table is $108 an hour off the table. The 15/30 probably gets about 40+ hands an hour. even at $3 avg rake (which I highly, highly doubt in any limit game), that would be $120 an hour off the table.

Third, the game thrives on action, not nittiness. Don't punish action.

I haven't logged too many hours at 1/2, but when I have played it, I found the games to be incredibly soft. The 2/5's have a fairly large contingent of winning regs, and some nights, it seems like they outnumber the fish. But all in all, the games are generally good, and you'll learn pretty fast which players you should avoid, and which ones you can look up with middle pair.

I'm leaving the area so I'm done with Parx, just wanted to say GG all. I was the unshaven young man in the 10/10 game named Mike, in the SIG cap with the rigid poses. Thanks to Ari and Brandon for always being willing to chat and for an excellent job in accommodating serious players when they were able to. And thanks to all the 10/10 regs who were, with very rare exceptions, friendly, fun, and professional in conduct. I had never legitimately enjoyed live poker before, but ended up really appreciating the social and competitive environment at Parx. Keep it up, everyone.
