According to Google Maps:

NYC (Empire State Building) to Parx 82.5 miles
NYC (Empire State Building) to Borgata 130 miles

About a 50 mile difference each way, 100 extra miles, probably about a 90-120 minute difference in total travel time, depending on time of day and traffic.

I think what dinesh was trying to make you understand(he obv underestimated how obtuse you really are) is that if it takes you an hour longer to get somewhere it most likely will also take an extra hour to return to whence you came.

So 1 extra hour + another extra hour = 2 extra hours

OK, I interpreted "two hours closer" it to mean in one direction which is why it seemed to wrong to me. I see what yer talking about now.

Also, I don't drive and the bus to AC is 2 1/2 hours and the train to philly is just under 3 hours, so for me AC is still quicker to get to. I take day trips from NYC to AC quite often actually, which is why I asked the original question.

Anyway, I'll be in Philly this weekend and may have some time to sneak over to Parx, which is why I've been perusing this thread to begin with

Did they announce the Dec Freeroll? I keep seeing it greyed out on the comp check machine, but was wondering when it would be announced...Any idea what the timeframe is for hours?

Last week my car was in the shop and I took a bus from NYC to Parx, it was 1.5 hours. Cost $19, cheaper than driving. You also get (3) $20 match play coupons upon arrival. Bus departs from NYC Chinatown, Brooklyn Chinatown and Flushing Queens. You can find the schedule on the Parx website, click visit us>bus schedule>Asian bus schedule. You don't need to be Asian either, and often I am the only white bread on the bus. You'll always get both the window and isle seats as the Asians wont want to sit next to you.

btw I'm aweYin.

I usually drive but curious - where exactly is the brooklyn departure location? I tried calling them but they couldn't really understand me (and vice versa)

Does the 2/5 no limit usually play pretty deep at parx? I'm gonna go somewhere to play tonight. I have a short roll and feel uncomfortable to max buy for a g note. anyone that plays often enough to know I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance. D

It leaves Brooklyn at the corner of 60th st & 8th ave, arrives at the n stop on 58th & 8th ave. Leaves/arrives NYC at Division & Bowery. Not sure about Flushing location.

Flushing departure location is 40th and Prince Street.

There are Chinese vultures hanging around the bus area waiting to buy your match play coupons for $22 if you don't feel like gambling them and want to go straight to poker.

What are the limits and min/max buyins that would likely be running tonight for nlhe?

Nevermind, found the limits. Any 2/5 regs give me an idea of what standard buyins are? I'm used to playing at the Borgata with a 500 cap. Does this play way deeper?

For NL: 1/2 (12-16 tables), 2/5 (4-6 tables), 10/10 (1 main, 1 must move)

Edit: I played almost 1k hours at Parx 2/5 before moving to 10/10. 2/5 at Parx plays much deeper although I would say it is mostly the better players that are buying in for the full $1k. Average buy-in is slightly above $500 in my opinion. The minimum is $200 which is awesome but few people sit down with that little.

Thanks for the input, got a few hours to decide whether to play the 1/2 or 2/5. Been a long time since I've played 1/2 but not super psyched about playing that deep at a new room in 2/5.

Just buy in for 500. Problem solved.

Do you play daytime 10/10? I can't seem to figure out who you are.

Not really. When he doubles up he will be 200bb effective with more players than he is used to at Borgata. The solution to that of course is to table change.

I know the feeling, when I play 10/20 shots I buy in for $2k and when I get closer to $5k deep I definitely play suboptimal because of my discomfort with the stakes and effective stack sizes.

Edit: Pasterbator, I only started playing 10/10 daily in early September. I play 5-6 days a week. Asian 20-something. I doubt the way I play is particularly memorable but I am on an insane heater right now.

You think 6k is too short to start playing in this game as a reg. I've had a pretty solid run at another casino. 520 hours at 42.43 an hour.
