i play LHE somewhat regularly at parx. every time time i sit at the 15 and 30 game, i ALWAYS feel like players are soft playing each other. also, I've been wedged between two players (who obviously play a lot together and know one another very well) in a hand and more times than not showdown with speculative hands.

For example- player a limps oop with 52suited and later cold calls 3bets/4bets oop while I am in the middle of him and his friend. then proceeds to bet, reraise and call 4bets with gutshots while i'm between him and his 'friend'-All oop

I know I can use this to my advantage but does anyone else feel like these 'friends' are possibly colluding? It discourages me from playing limit at parx more often. I like the room but i feel this happens a lot at their midstakes limit tables. anyone with me?

It really isn't, you just aren't used to how bad everyone plays. Old dude regs "soft play" each other all the time. . . everywhere. It is a friendly game, and that is all the better for everyone.
And as far as showing down with speculative hands. . . hell I will show down K high to plenty of the people in that game. Just because people don't play how you expect them to doesn't mean they are colluding. People just like to gambool!

According the game report site, it hasn't run in a week. I have been/will be busy for about another month or so, but will also attempt to revive the game. However, I don't expect to ever get the game running close to the 5-6 times a week it did before.

That is a pretty high stakes game! Some casinos give you free money to play when you first up sign up... e.g. Mohegan Sun, Mt. Airy even Sands (although its only $5)

Just curious if Parx offers anything like that...

15-30 is a limit game. Parx gives you slot dollars when you first sign up for a card. Don't know if that is still going.

nice TR. Strat usually doesn't belong here, so maybe you could post it in LLSNL and link to it if the mods edit the post.

i don't like the c-r on the flop. Not sure what it accomplishes. As played, I call since you played the hand so weird that the villain might just spazz out and ship draws and worse value hands.

Why though?

Felt like 3 or 4 people would always be available, 2 fairly well known in this thread, 2 different pharmacists, and a Russian. Just confused what happened to those people? I tried putting my name on a list and bringing it up at my table on Sunday, but no one was interested. If it starts 3-4 handed I'd imagine it would fill?

Of course it will still fill if it gets started but the other regs who were willing to start short aren't around for various reasons.

So now we have a bunch of people who won't start the game short waiting for someone else to do it.

It died before and came back so hopefully it will come back again.

How far out of Philly is this casino? Short bus ride? Also If you had to chose between playing here or at Chesters, which would you choose?

25 minutes from center city with no traffic. Public transit has been discussed earlier. My car broke down and I took it once and it took about an hour. I took the subway to Frankford Transportation center then took some bus to Parx.

I choose Parx because Chester doesn't spread 5/10 regularly. Parx does every night. For a 1/2NL or low limit player I'd choose Chester because of the somewhat softer games and lower rake. For 2/5 it is closer because Parx usually has more 2/5 games.

Yes - it was limit O/E. No mention of any slot dollars or anything else.

I wonder if it is the same woman that was playing $15/$30 O/E. Younger - about 30ish. Husband also plays.

I'd put her on something like Aces up.

Her husband/manfriend came over slightly after the hand and they spoke. It looks like he came from the high stakes area, but not 100%. I'm thinking it is the woman you're thinking of, white iPhone on the table, headphone half the time.

Does anyone else have a problem getting a cell phone signal at Parx? I have Sprint and for the most part my coverage is great. I can only think of three places I've been in the past six months (aside from rural areas) where I've had trouble getting a signal, one of which is Parx, where I consistently have coverage problems. I usually have one bar, or no signal at all. When I left the other night, I received several texts from hours before, since I was apparently out of range the whole time.

I'm not the type of person who's constantly slowing the game down because I'm on my phone, but I need to be reachable at most times for business reasons, so I've actually had to avoid playing at Parx a few times when I had important things going on, and couldn't run the risk of being unreachable. Also, the bad signal seems to drain my battery faster. I'm curious if the problem is unique to Sprint or if other people have problems with different carriers.

No issues with Verizon for me.

Sounds like a good problem to me. I wish my phone didn't work in there, then my wife couldn't call me and bother me.

No problem with Verizon either. Every carrier has its own dead spots, perhaps Parx is one for Sprint. It's worth mentioning that these spots evolve and clear up over time as the carrier add/update/move their towers.

Also, having low/no signal is well known to cause battery drain, as the phone uses more juice when it is searching for a signal lock (which it ends up doing repeatedly).

I'm rocking the Evo on Sprint and have no problems with reception at Parx.

Interesting, thanks for replying. I have a Palm Pre which isn't the greatest phone, but I got it for $99 two years ago and have been pretty happy overall relative to the price. I rarely have reception issues, aside from trips to rural areas, I know of exactly two places where I've had problems in the last 6-12 months, both restaurants that are older buildings, so I just assumed the building was the issue. It sounds like my phone is the problem, and it's been a consistent problem since I started going to Parx earlier this year. I guess it's time to upgrade, since the amount I'd pay for a new phone would make up for itself pretty quickly by being able to play at Parx more often.

I have the EVO also but I have some problems at Parx. Mainly internet related 4g is non existant and 3g is slow. Battery drain is above average. No problems making calls though.
One of the few places with Sprint I don't connect well is Parx.
