I was actually planning to start playing 30% or so live this summer but now it'll be closer to 100% because of the online situation. I'm starting with a pretty smallish live roll (~$10K) and will look to build up to $30ish by summer so I can get back in the $5/$10 games.

Anyway I tracked the games and talked to the wife to make up my schedule and I'll be there every Tues Fri and Sat...so if anyone wants to grab food or something during a break and talk a few hands, pm me or something.

I thought tuesday would blow but that day works best for us schedule wise...it was actually great. there was a steady flow of massive fish constantly. a few drunk guys even in the mid afternoon. There were a few online guys who played but some of them are like SNG pros or multi-table grinders who really didn't do anything special. they were easy to spot because they had their headphones on and couldn't sit still for more than 15 seconds haha...i'm sure they'll adjust or quit live soon though. There were also one or two 5/10 games going...this is def a good thing if you are playing 2/5 or 1/2 as the stronger players will filter up leaving lower games softer.

i made a few rookie live mistakes including calling a river c/r after a guy sighed and moaned about how bad of a card that was (i made a straight but he made a higher one ooobbbbvvvv)...got them out of my system though hopefully.

love the look and feel of parx...i used to play in home games around here and love the whole going upstairs to a separate room feel....reminds me of the old days.

having not been there for a few months, I noticed a few more girls playing in the games. It still sucks that there is such a small percentage of girls but that's a huge market that needs to be tapped into to increase the player pool. I heard two separate conversations of guys saying girls shouldn't be allowed in the room...lol to that and that's prob a big part of why they aren't there.

anyway..just a few rambling thoughts...ok..back to my day!
Friday night 11pm-4am is primetime at parx. The degens come out and go all in blind. good times.

Stopped up tonight to parx for a couple hours tonight, room was packed as always. Played 2/5 lost 18 bucks after playing some hands so horribly. Imhave to replay them in my head to figure out what was I thinking!!! Checked out the 200-400 game for a couple minutes, saw 2 familar faces. From what I overheard is that the game was the mixed game that runs at the borgata. It would be cool to see parx become the new home for a little more high stakes action. But don't see that happening.

Why would it matter to 99% of the players at Parx if the began to spread that game?

the higher the limits of games the better for everyone at pretty much any game. you don't want to be the highest game in the room (unless you want to be hah).

i get your point that a super high stakes game won't directly filter people up from lower games but if that runs more there will start to be games slightly lower than that etc...it's always a good thing.

not to mention the prestige of being the biggest room around will be a huge draw especially for continued business there for existing clients.

This exactly.

Frequently the best game in the room is the SECOND biggest.

Came to Parx for the 1st time last night and man was there lots of good action. I played in a 15-30 Holdem game that was as crazy as a 2-4 limit game with a bunch of drunk 21 year olds. Thanks for the donation suckers. Picked up 900 in 2 hours. I will definitely be back. Bye Bye Taj and Borgata

As often as 3 or more people will show up and sit down to play it. I know I sound like a broken record but whenever we sit down short to play, it always fills up and runs for hours.

It was running when you posted this, and still running when I left at 5.

Couldnt agree more. Every casino I have played at, once the game starts it fills up within 20 minutes. Looking to play plo8 this saturday at Parx. New to the room and I am looking to win back to back sessions. Does this game go regularly? Or is it just PLO?

question for regs there (or Ari)...i got laughed a little at by the floorman (not in a rude way but in more of a "that'll never work" way)..

If i'm waiting for a 2/5 game to start and there is say a list of 5 people...can i just grab someone and start a game heads-up? and wait for people to sit in? I left my game for dinner the other night (forgot about the dinner list thing) and when I got back I waited over an hour to get on a game. I wouldn't mind starting HU and having people jump in...I feel like it would start faster. any ideas?

depends on the game, time of day, etc. they won't generally let you start a new game short if it has any likelihood of causing a current game to break if some of those players leave. in your case, if you start a new table short, then there is no one left to fill in at the current 2/5 tables if players depart. generally speaking, unless you have a full table (or more) on the list, they won't call another table. it does suck having to wait a while, though.

having a feel for when it is OK to start a new game is one of the things the floors do.

(NB: none of this applies to games with must moves, which 1/2 and 2/5 are not.)

also note that sometimes they cannot start new games because there aren't enough dealers available.

We've never played PLO8, but if you show up early and are willing to help start the game, I think you could probably get it in the rotation.

I think that HU is tough, people are less likely to join a HU game than a 3 or 4 handed game because they think people playing HU must be better than them. Every time the PLO game has gotten down to heads up we've had no success getting anyone to join, they just see us playing HU and think we're a couple sickos.

It definitely does matter what time of day, etc... I feel like the only real way to play heads up is when your table is about to break and there just happens to be two players willing to play. Otherwise it would be pretty unfavorable for the casino to just start opening random heads up tables like it's online poker (which would be pretty cool).
