Played at Parx Casino today, and it had an enormous amount of tables (1/2 NLHE) going, very very deep for the 1/2 level and the players were mostly above average and intent on playing poker well and winning,,unlike the venues in AC where there's several casino's where the table average is well below 1,000 per table, the stax at Parx were deep and all but a few players were sitting behind three-thru-1400 dollars in chips. I was actually reminded of my reccent trip to Tunica MISS, where the 1/2 tables often had in excess of 6K per table and very lose action, esp. preflop, nothing to see 800 dollar pots before the flop..........Making these two venues tables look more like 2/5---5/10 NLHE tables.

Since, I travel quite a bit, it would be great to know how deep the tables are at the different rooms, before I drive all the hundreds of miles to a room that is way above what I want to play.

I've been to Parx maybe 8 times now and never seen a true deep stack 1/2 table going, including late night sessions. I thnk you just ran into an unusual table.

Wonder how much busier Parx will get now that there's no more online poker.

I would expect a full room tonight... already 33 tables @ 7:15

1/2 play is far from above average. I'm sure someone else can vouch. I'm halfway to my 60 hours for that 50k freeroll good luck at the tables gents.

There was definitely more tables than usual running last night. Tables were open in the back near the newly installed electronic BJ machines. I spoke to the floor and was told that there were tables opened for the first time ever.

If you didn't know internet pokers was shut down, you definitely noticed a busier than normal live card room.

As far as the quality of play, I emphatically disagree. You musta been looking at a 2/5 table by mistake. The quality of 1/2 player is rather abysmal and will rapidly decline as the online .10/.25 player has no choice to come to the room and give the ol' 1/2NL a shot. Factor in as well the small stakes online MTT/SNG players with little to no other options.

Such a bummer to not be able to sit down for an hour or two in the comfort of home to play a little cards. Thank goodness I live 15 minutes from Parx.

Was there last night, will be back tonight (how does rain affect casino turnout? I mean it won't be dead obviously, but slower than usual? Or not much of a different?) for some 1/2nl assuming I can get a decent nap in. If anyone was at the table with the A3 vs. 22 vs. 32 on a 332 flop hand, I was the guy with deuces who took the side pot.

I was toward the front of the room so I didn't see how many were open back there, but I had played at one of those tables last weekend (though it was the only one, so he's maybe not technically incorrect for saying tables. Anyway, are those tables back there going to be the tournament tables?

Let me know when the interest list is started for $2/5 PLO/NLHE. I'm down if the game does pop off tonight.

...so i lose a huge pot and stacked off in the UTG position, and i immediately go get some more chips from the cage, which is about 10' away from my table. i was gone for less than 30 seconds, but the dealer began dealing the next hand, and he failed to deal me in, even though i said "$500 behind, be right back." okay, fine...maybe he didn't hear me. but after the button passes, he tells me i have to post. ???

so for any dealers who might read this, here's a little tip: if you make me post after i get stacked, even though i was only gone for a few seconds to buy more chips, i can promise you that my $5 post will be coming out of your toke box.

Here is a little tip for you: Parx currently has a strict rule that you can't play from behind and must have chips on the table to be dealt cards. There has been many changes in the past of whether players could play from behind. Like buying chips from a chip runner that is next to the table, buying from other players with cash playing on the table or buying chips from players that is in their pockets (which is still allowed). The dealers are only doing what they are held accountable for so before you spite the dealers for doing their job think again. Next time maybe look to improve your owe play so you don't get felted.

nowhere did i say anything about "playing from behind." the issue i take with the dealers is when they tell me i have to post the big blind after i just got felted. the whole reason i missed my blinds is because parx doesn't allow me to rebuy at the table! and the chip runners are too slow, so the fastest way to buy more chips is to run to the cage. but no cashier is fast enough to get you back to the table in time for your big blind. in this situation, a player should not have to post. and if a dealer makes me do it, then it's going to cost him, not me. comprendé?

In my opinion, you're right. At Parx I've been told that if a player busts and re-buys then he/she does not need to post missed blinds.

The part about the $500 behind, Parx doesn't allow that, but you don't seem to be much bothered about that anyway.

Keep an extra buyin in your pocket in large chips. Problem solved.

Also keeps you from having to play short if you lose a few pots.

for what its worth i like the no rebuy rule at the table. The game moves much faster in that every other hand someone is not topping off, rebuying, more fills...if you think you are going to rebuy if you get felted (or want to top off) buy extra chips (blacks) and keep them in your pocket or just go the the cage/get a chip runner. You do not need to be a brain surgeon to figure this out. What is the big deal if you miss a hand or two it is not the end of the world.

You kinda put yourself in that position by not adjusting to the rules.

i.e. - instead of buying in for $500, buy in for an extra 5 blacks and keep them in your pocket to avoid this situation.

Just cause you were unfortunate to get stacked doesn't mean you get a free button after missing the blinds.
