No offense but do you not see the difference between a light snow shower and a blizzard that dropped over a foot of snow in a few hours and left thousands without power?

Here in NJ snow was bad enough over the past 2 days to cancel college classes. My road remains unplowed as of right now. So yeah, it's not an outlandish question.

I should also learn to spell. My post was poorly executed as it assumed you were being sarcastic about the time that Parx was closed due to the storm.

Gotta say I'm disappointed in Parx having a snow closing. Now I get that there was certainly going to be a storm and probably a big one. Sure it makes sense for the employees to be able to get home safely. Of course it will probably be a losing proposition to be open since the amount of customers there won't make up for the amount of overhead it takes to stay open.

However casinos are known for being open 24/7 365 days a year. That fact is invaluable to casinos. They should never do anything to make anybody even a bit unsure of that fact. The casinos should simply never close unless extreme emergency. Getting a foot of snow should not lose them, getting two feets of snow should not close them. Getting stuck there during a snowstorm is not a dangerous situation.

Ari,
Please make sure that there is a floorperson in the high limit area or at least very close at all times. Last night we were at 15/30 with two open seats, a list, the floorbutton at our table pushed, and no one came by (or was in sight) for approx. 20 minutes. Also, in general, from 11pm onwards it was very slow and difficult getting seats filled from the must move, since there simply was no floorperson to be found back there.

Also, it would be great if the policy was a bit more lenient about getting free time for the first half of play. For instance, last night the cards were in the air at about 9:22pm, and at 9:30pm the new dealer is forced to take time. If we've only been playing 10 minutes or so, the NEXT half should really be free too. Other establishments are offering VERY reduced rakes or free half every other half, etc., to promote play. While I don't expect that, it would be nice for policies to be slightly more player friendly.

anybody have an opinion on what the omaha 8/b $4/$8 game is like on Saturday nights? Is there more than 1 table? And is it a half-kill game? If so, what must the pot be to qualify?

yes, it is half kill. It triggers at the standard 7.5 BBs, so 60. I don't think it gets 2 tables though. Pretty good game, fun and soft.

The asian floor lady is pretty cool, I met her when Parx had just opened and we exchange hellos each time I'm there since she apparently works the overnight shift every time I'm there(I only go at night). I don't know anything about how she is as a floor person though, seems fine.

This problems seems to get worse the further back you go in the room. (I'd imagine the floor spends most of their time running the 1/2 and 2/5 NLHE game pool.)

I've sat at 8/16 a few times and there are always open seating problems. The first time there were 4 open seats and we figured that the game was going to break, but then some dude sat down and said he was way down on the list. Turns out there was a long list that hadn't been called. I would pay particular attention to a game like this that has a hard time staying running.

Playing games closer to the center of the room, I've noticed smaller problems that start with the dealers not immediately alerting the floor as to open seating. Then it seems rare that names get called off a waiting list. I think it's more of self-serve waiting list for the non-NLHE games.

One improvement to point out is that ever time I went into the bathroom after 9pm there was someone in there cleaning up the place and keeping it functional. From an operational view this makes the most sense since the heaviest traffic is probably 6pm-midnight and not normal business hours.

Few questions about the 2/5 .....

Winning 1/2 player rolled to make the move to 2/5.... I know it's been asked be4 but I am curious to hear from some of the 2/5 regs on how much differently the game plays. I imagine there being some subtle differences, but maybe there are some things that I wouldn't expect.

- What are people buying in for on average, would like to hear some feedback on what the majority of people are sitting down with ( I buy in full for 1/2 but thinking about sitting @ a 2/5 with 5-600 the first couple times)

- Is the level of play that much better ?

- Avg open raise ? (cant be any worse than 1/2, with some people raising it to 8 and others making it 15 to go pre) I'm thinking 2/5 open would be 15-25?

Any insight that could be provided would be appreciated. I would assume the game plays with reds and greens, but still has those annoying blues at the table.

I asked dealer to spread pot last night and was told that they cannot do it. Just curious why that rule was put in place. Most card rooms allow this and I believe Parx allowed this until recently.

Players ask for this very infrequently and usually only when there is a big pot. It takes dealer a couple of seconds. In a large pot with multi denomination chips in play ($5, $25 and $100) sometimes you lose track and want to eye ball the pot and give an aprox count. (I know I should know how much is in the pot).

IMO this ruke does not make sense.

I played the 4/8 OE for a few hours last night. Also a very fun game. Noticed a few AC regs (I'm a semi-reg), but not too many. Stud round moved slower due to some dealer errors & constant making change for the $1 ante/BI.
I didn't care though becasue I was just thrilled to play stud 8 live (again)...

Players had much more of a clue during the stud 8 round than during the O8 round. EX. - I accidentally exposed some of my hand (2h3s6sKd) when I folded into the muck. The guy next to me says, "You're folding that ? I would've played that for $4." The guy next to him said, "Yeah, I would've too..."

I over head a conversation last night at Parx. Apparently 3 of the players sitting there were better than Ivey and all the other FT pros. The only difference was that the pros had more money than them. HA! I've been playing live poker for a while now and that has to be the best and most delusional conversation I have ever heard in my life regarding any topic.

You make a great point about free time for a new game. I noticed the game was short for a while and as we all know a ton of live players hate short-handed play. I'm sure a floor person will blame the gaming commission like always.

Right now the room is a novelty. If it continues to disregard it's players, the smarter ones will go where they actually get comped fairly ($1 for 15/30 is a joke), don't run out of food, don't have to pay for alcohol, and don't have to load comp money onto their cards before they have to lose it. Otherwise the games are soft and the drive is short, so thats good.

Alot of players do not comprehend the idea is to scoop the whole pot and are happy playing for half...gf

It came to my attention last night that money does NOT play behind. Quickly I adjusted to this decision by going to the cage and re-buying more than my standard buy-in for 15/30. My question is: why are so many people complaining about this decision and not just adjusting to it?

I also want to give credit to the dealers at Parx. They have really improved since it opened.
