Ari,

Given the rule about the SB, it would be better, overall, for a "buy the button" rule.

ok i was just wondering why you can buy the button if you miss the small blind but not the big blind. in both cases there is dead small blind. i am not arguing if this is good or bad rule. why not have it so you can post big blind w/dead small blind on the button too? wouldn't this be the same thing?

I dont disagree, let me talk it over with the team. I will get back to everyone.

I'm still waiting to hear from phaedrus about his discussion with Ari or another supervisor about the less-than-adequate dealer(s) he encountered.

I wasn't having any discussion with anyone...I just suggested the idea and it received a negative response here. In my experience, dealers actually enjoy dealing the higher stakes lhe games. Yes, they don't often get more than $1 tips, but the action usually takes care of itself and is fairly quick...they get many more hands in and hence make more money.

Great - thanks!

FWIW... I tend to be neutral on this issue, other than the fact that does get walkers back in the game faster. Many players would prefer to BTB, rather than post behind (especially if the table is short). We also don't want them waiting another orbit, either.

Ignoring for a moment whether or not it's good for a player... it's good for the game. I see this rule used in CA and NV all the time.

That was my point. If you see a dealer who is subpar, you need to let a supervisor know about it so action can be taken. The correct solution isn't to run only select dealers through the high-limit games; it's to retrain or terminate the subpar dealers.

If we are thinking about the same hand, UTG+1 &MP1 limped, MP2 made it $25, MP3 called, BTN/SB/BB call, UTG+1 minraises to $50, MP1 calls, MP2 4bets to $200, folded to UTG+1 who calls, MP2 calls.
Flop comes 7J4dd(I think), UTG+1 checks, MP1 shoves about ~$175, MP2 shoves ~$200, UTG+1 calls. Dont remember turn and river but they were irrelevant.
MP2 asks if anyone has a set, both players say no. MP2 shows KK, MP1 mucks. UTG+1 slow rolls 74ss for 2 pair and the pot.

I tried searching this thread (and the whole forum) with no luck, so I apologize if this has been asked and answered already.

what are the actual specific benefits of the Xclub and its 3 levels? I could not find specific info anywhere on the parx website.

It currently has nothing to do with the poker room.

thank you for your response. maybe I am thinking of the wrong card then? they ask you if you have a card and swipe you in at the poker table if you do.

The confusion is there are there are the 3 color coded that you get in the main building (there are some small benefits in the main room), the red one with the jockey on it from the poker room. All of these work to accrue comp in the poker room, but none of the "tiering" means anything in the poker room.

ok, then what are the specific details for the comps from the poker room card? I've never been close enough to a casino to warrant having a card, so I don't know what typical benefits are.

$1 an hour for use in all the casinos eateries (have a floor explain when you get there how to use it).

I finally made it back to Parx today, after not having a chance to play there for quite a while.

I notice that some folk had posted about bad parking lot conditions. Maybe they are talking about a different one than the one I parked in? Right in front of (after the handicapped spots) Parx East. No potholes or other big problems. A few cracks, which eventually will need sealant. But nothing big enough to trip over, let alone damage a tire.

The room is beautiful with the walls down. The rib soup with veggies that I had at the Noodle Bar was *very* tasty. The 1/2 game I was in was lacking in action, and I was too lazy to ask for a table change. The dealers were all good - to very good. No problems there.

The table games area and horse racing areas were all very busy, as was the poker room. Just wish that the 8/16 LHE game could have gone. And/or that I had brought enough cash to try the 15/30. Maybe next time.

All in all, not a bad trip - even though after a little over 4 hours of play I managed to squeak out a $1 loss. Happens, sometimes.

I don't know why the haters hate on Parx. It's a beautiful room, and very well run.

Basically, if you are ever in a casino, make sure to get a player's card and be swiped in. It won't hurt, and one never knows what offers might happen as a result. Sometimes it's surprising how little play can get one hotel rooms or free meals. Don't be afraid to ask, either. So long as one is polite, and not pushy, the results are never bad (other than getting a simple "no") and can be quite good.

I'm not at all sure that there are "typical" benefits. They vary widely from property to property. I won't get into differences here, because I don't think that this is the thread for that discussion.

the last couple times i played at parx, a dealer--and it may have been the same one both times--repeatedly referred to me by name during the hands, and it was not because he knew me or recognized me. he was doing it to all the players who were logged in with their player cards. some players might not care, but i'm not a fan of this at all, and i found it to be highly annoying. is he doing this because he's trying to create a more personal atmosphere, in the hopes it will somehow lead to larger tips? if so, i believe he's sadly mistaken.

um, you would be welcome to sit at my table, then. this really is a bad rule, and over time, more players will start to abuse it.

Same thing when I was there this weekend. I personally had no problem with it but I could see why some people would not like it. Made me laugh when he referred to those not checked in with a card as "guest."

I didn't have a problem with it and can't imagine why anyone would.

it's a 2 bi pot. Officially it's 1 max bi pot. Waaaaay bigger pots are won and lost each day. I really doubt this hand would draw a crowd. If so, way too many railbirds are being allowed in the room, which I am starting to notice.

I probably put more hours in at than any 2/5 player at Parx so I do know most of the dealers names and they mine but I can't see why this would bother you. How is this different from the dry cleaner down the street you see once a week or the guy at the deli you go to a few times a week using your name after they see it on a credit card? It's just good business.

It's way less creepy than people calling the cocktail waitresses by their names.
