Is horse really not "allowed"? I've never seen an interest list or asked to start one. Is there any particular reason known why it can't get going?

^I believe Razz is not an approved game for PA yet, therefore making HORSE not possible.

Correct... but, HOSE or, better still HOE, can be spread. I'll be trying to get that off the ground tonight

Couldn't get a mixed game started tonight. Room was slower than I expected for a Thursday night. Probably better luck getting one off the ground on a Fri/Sat.

In related news... I did play a little 8-16. Or, more accurately, I donated significantly to the game. I clearly lived up to my new avatar

I shoulda sat with dinesh in the 15 game.

<sigh>

Haha, hopefully you'd have had more luck than me!

As an aside, I heard (but didn't confirm with anyone official, so take with however many grains of salt you'd like) that they had decided to chain up to three tables of must moves, up from two, after the main game broke twice in the past few days.

Once a fourth table is added, the chaining would end, and it would revert to a single must move table feeding all others.

Going to try to get out to Parx tonight. Haven't been in about a month...way to long!

How's the Friday evening action been since the expansion? More recreational players?

Yes and no. hard to tell with the expansion coming during the holiday week. This will be the first non-holiday weekend since expansion.

There does appear to be more people in the room. Multiple 4 & 15 games. Still only 1 brittle 8 game. O8 often gets 2 tables, sometimes an OE, too. PLO is all regs (and most likely will remain so). If you can get in the 2nd or 3rd 15 game, you have a better chance of recreational players - main game is a reg fest as is the 8 game.

I think the hoodie & sunglasses games got a bigger newbie contribution, though.

We'll see over the next few weeks

Why would anyone expect anything different?

News flash: PLO is the game of the future. . . and always will be.

This just in: mid-level limit games on the east coast are full of nitty regs.

Breaking news: 1/2NL and 2/5NL are full of rec players itching to say "all in". . . just like TV!

Read the Borgata thread. . . 11,000 posts of pretty much the same thing.

The goal here is to get some of the hoodie & sunglass players in this game. But, the regs keep trying to make the game bigger, thus scaring the new blood away.

You're painting with too broad of a stroke here. Fundamentally true, however, with the right limits you can draw some rec players. It never will be the panacea of fish, like NL. Sad, but true. That said, you can always attract some new players. I am highly optimistic, based on the multiple 15 games that got off - this will improve going forward.

Part of the problem with the Borg (and I have discussed this repeatedly with Stan) is that the limit structure is wrong. 2/4 and 3/6 are a death bed. And, there is nothing between them and 10-20. I'd like to see the Borg take a shot with 4/8, 8/16, 15/30 & 30/60. But, that won't happen until Parx's lineup of games structured exactly that way becomes successful.

Definition of insanity... doing the same things over & over, each time expecting different results!

Not to get back on this topic again but that simply isn't true. You seem to be a limit holdem player...and I'll even say expert. Continue to speak on that.

We'll play 1-2 all day every day. But it's not generating much interest EXCEPT for some regs so to make it more fun we'll play 1-2 with 5 blind UTG (since 5 bring in was shot down). For those streams of new players that want to play (lol) but are intimidated by the $5 bring in, don't post it. You don't have to. It's 1,000% optional.

There was talk of a bigger game 5/5. That's not talk of changing the 1/2 game or making it bigger. It's just talk of "hey, next time we are in, let's start a 5/5 list and play that instead of 1/2".

Why not shoot for the moon and make it "6 game" and add in 1/2 or 2/5 NLHE and PLO into it.

I don't get it. You're saying the HOSE won't run? Certainly possible. Multiple people are saying they are in and headed down tonight. I wish them the best of luck. It would be a fun fun game.

You don't actually believe that, right?

Even if a player wanted to opt out of the $5 straddle, it's generally bad poker etiquette if everyone else is doing it. On the flip side of that, nobody wants to be "that guy" who refuses to straddle if everyone else is yucking it up and sticking in their $5.

Also, the presence of the straddle DOES make the game much bigger and introduces more stack-sized gambling. This affects all players at the table, regardless of whether they're going to opt in or not.

Both of these factors are disincentives for rec players to "feel out" a new game.

Most rec players walk in with 2 or maybe three buy-ins to gamble with. That's an entire evening of hold'em. It's an hour of omaha. With a straddle, it's 10 minutes of omaha.

No, I'm saying that poker heaven would be 8 game, and most of the people willing to play HOSE would likely play the other two games as well. Too bad we're limited to 6 games.

If you're going to try to start HOSE, why not go on ahead and try "6 game?"

My point is, they aren't playing anyway. Yes I obv know $5 blind makes it a bigger game.

The stakes aren't keeping people out. The game was 1-2 for a month. It's 1-2 now. NLHE regs aren't gonna come play.

You said it yourself..."it's the game of the future...and always will be". I agree.
