Therein lies another part of the problem. The buy in (and the rebuys). You can properly buy into an 8-16 game with 2 full racks of blue. Rebuys can be made in rack increments. With red & white, (most) people will just show up with some number of red stacks, forcing dealers to make change, multiple times/street.

In theory, what you say can work. In reality, it almost never does. Hence, that is why the game is played with blue's.

It's very much like back in the days of the infamous PCG. People used to come to the table with stacks of red & pink. They were told to go back to the cage and change the reds to pinks. Yet - they bitched... "Why??? I can just play one red and one pink for the SB rounds and 3 reds for the BB rounds?"

"Because the game is played with all pink chips, sir/madam."

The 8-16 can never sustain itself at Bellagio. Why? It's played with $5's & $1's.
The 8-16 (multiple games) always goes at Venetian. Why? $2 chips.

All that said, I'm not being dismissive. But, this horse has been beaten to death (and then some). The overwhelming consensus of opinion is that the 8-16 game plays better with $2 chips.

Now, if you want to make a case for removing the $2 chip from the 2/5NL game, you might pick up some traction there.

Doesn't work on my BB, unless the link is down now. I get some "home page" looking display and nothing that resembles a LGR.

One would think that you don't need flashy graphics and such to post a list of games

.. when i came home from a five hour session, my wife could smell the smoke on my clothes and she would not even let me hold my newborn baby. the so-called "ventilation" system above the bar is akin to putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound.
***Disclaimer : All of the following is my own opinion and completely "subjective". << love that word..so popular nowadays.lol

. Your posts have gotten progressively negative. All the way up to you resorting to using scare words and phrases such as "carcinogens", "my eyes burn", and awww...." my wife wouldn't even let me hold my newborn baby".Starting to seem like an agenda. Scare tactics..wow

Your statements are complete fabrication. Definitely moll-like. I'm seeing/hearing there are alot of borgata regs coming to Parx. Too bad its effecting your games there at the Borgata. It is what it is. Your attempt at misrepresenting Parx poker room as a smoke filled death trap is pathetic quite frankly. Simply not true.

I have been to the room 4x, 30 hours total. Absolutely no evidence of smoke or smell. The last 2 sessions (both at tables closest to bar), I decided to ask several non-smokers at my tables , along with several floor and security people if they could smell smoke. Of the 12 people I asked, 10 answered "no", 2 answered "not really". Including all my friends, that would be a total of 20 non-smokers that say there is no smoke/smell issue.

With all the carcinogens and clouds of smoke to stick to your clothing so badly that you can't even hold your newborn, you would think these people would notice. They all must have the worst sinus problems ever recorded. Go figure.

Smoke or smell is not an issue at Parx. Anyone that is adamantly claiming otherwise has an agenda to create bad press for a fabulous room. Sorry your games are suffering at the other casinos (not really), but get used to it, it's gonna get worse. Parx is on its way to being the #1 poker room on east coast. Get on the band wagon or stay off. Haters not allowed!!

My prediction is..in 5 years, when the room is ridiculously popular, the naysayers and complainers will be all over Parx poker room talking about.."oh yea , I know that room, I been a regular there since it opened.." or " I knew it was going to take off, I been saying it the whole time.." or " I been there every day, what you need to know, I'm the man, I know all about the room" all while name dropping the crap out of dealers and floor.."I know him, I know her.." yada yada.

Sorry guys/gals , I'm just really impressed w/ this room. It's almost like the little brother I never had. Forgive me if I seem over protective.

Non-smokers that have never been to this room...please do not be discouraged from visiting. The room is fine. You will find that all claims of smoke/cigarette smell being an issue are totally false. Myself and the 20 non-smoking people that I asked, as well as plenty of people posting in this thread, agree there is no issue.

The smoke at Parx is a non-issue. Agreed.

A few nice looking waitresses, too.

I have a feeling this is the next policy in line to be changed in the near future.

I don't play 8/16 so I don't really know. But thinking about it, it just seems crazy to have that many blues on the table. I don't have a problem w/ it, I just thought it was a little excessive. Like I said, if I were to play 8/16 , it just seems logical to buy one rack red , half rack white..or even full rack white.

But ok. All 2/4, 4/8, 8/16, and a 2-10 stud w/ blues. All other NL/Limit games take the blues away. I'd really like to see this 2-10 stud game kick off. I think it could be a regular game. On weekends to start definitely sustainable imo.

FWIW: I went to the casino last night just to take a look because I was nearby....I walked in with my girlfriend and mentioned to her that people complained of smoke smell and I didn't smell anything. She said she noticed it right away. So I'm sure different people feel it / smell it differently...so to say it's a non-issue - just saying, for some people that are more sensitive it is an issue. There is no way they can glass off that bar...it would look ridiculous. There are so many nice outdoor areas I'm sure smokers wouldn't mind - they are used to going outside.

By " A few" , you do mean pretty much all the waitresses are nice looking right?

I just had a thought about another revenue generator for the room. Have the waitresses sell cigarettes. $10-$15 per pack is pretty much standard at casinos right?

Agreed. To say its intolerable, implying that there are clouds of smoke( so much smoke as to burn peoples eyes), and it's a health risk to visit the room, is just ridiculous.

Exactly. Certain ppl here just poo poo anybody who makes any negative comments against the room. They are just snobbish bores who arent complaining because nothing bothers them. When something does though, they will be right here the minute it happens to complain.

Some ppl take issue with the smoke. It happens. My 2 friends noticed it. I did not. Im a non smoker but grew up with 2 smoking parents so Im used to ignoring it. Some ppl arent. I would prefer it to be non smoking, but Im fine either way. But to attack ppl who cant take it is ridiculous. Unfortunately for them, it probably wont change anytime soon. They are clearly in the minority, but that doesnt mean they shouldnt be heard. My friends will not be returning. They are sticking to the smoke free rooms of AC. I will continue to play here. Its all SUBJECTIVE. Get over it.

Can't get it to work on my laptop, but just got it to work on my sister's BB:

Gotta click on "gaming", then scroll down to poker and click "live game report". Hope that helps. It seems like it has the same menus as the regular webpage, but has that added link. How do I get that on my laptop, since I don't have one of these fancy intelligent phones?

What exactly is the 2+2 sign? I always wondered. Typically, the 2+2 ers are pretty easy to figure out when I'm on a table - usually the best players, with the biggest stacks and aggressive, I usually don't advertise the fact that I am too, usually it's kind of a known between players - from my experience, usually a much higher level of respect, etc.

First rule of 2+2 is you don't talk about 2+2.

I agree, that's why I haven't. I was just wondering if there was any kind of "non verbal" communication between the community.

I say again, if you search "Parx poker" this thread is the 2nd thing to come up. It isn't exactly super secret or going to make anyone a better player instantly.
People who want to learn to get better and are the type to benefit from training already search it out. 2+2 is as super secret as going to Borders and buying books.

Love the room, really excited for when the extra tables are allowed and the lists wont be as long. After just one visit to Parx I will be going to AC a lot less in the future.

Two small complaints from my first visit
1) When I arrived one of the floor was assisting in adding people to the list as there were a dozen or so people in line and just one attendant. He took my initials first but never actually added me to the list, it took me a few minutes to notice on the board that I was never added. Nothing close sounding to the initials I gave either, he simply didnt add it. Basically was a very bad first impression of the staff since when I went up and reregistered (he was gone by this point) there were at least 6 names in front of me who were in line behind me. 6 names turned out to be an extra 15 minute wait.

2) The table I was playing at had a broken shuffler, at least thats what the floor had been telling the dealers and players. It wasnt until the 4th dealer came by and said we should make sure that a player looked under the table and simply found that the machine wasnt plugged in. Really stupid mistake by the floor that results in a lot of extra work for the dealers and less hand/hour for the players.

So, two minor mistakes for a new room that Im sure wont happen in the future. Still feel like I have to share them to make sure that they get heard.

Had my first losing day at Parx yesterday after six trips there. My pair of Aces with a Queen kicker got beat by a set of Jacks. :-(

3 hour wait for 1-2 NL at 4pm. Put my name on the list, went home and played COD for 2 and a half hours and went back and my name was called within 10 mins. Love the room.

This morning is looking good..still a lot of $2/5NL games with a lot of action. $15/30 is also going strong. I'm here every night and I've only noticed the smoke when I actually go to the bar. If anyone is going home smelling like smoke it must be because they are actually walking around/sitting at the bar. I hate smoke, makes me gag and my eyes water but I think this is a non issue here. I think everyone just needs to stop crying about this place because so far it is the only northeast poker room to actually respond to the poker community (2+2) and make changes based on guest feedback. They've changed to no flop, no drop..time rake on $8/16..more security in the parking lot etc etc etc etc...When the room expands next month you will be able to play on a table 300 feet away from the smoking bar, the room is HUGE. I'd rather spend my time appreciating things like how well the dealers that have NEVER dealt before are doing, how much Ari responds to us (and quickly) and how hot the waitresses are.

When did they change to "no flop no drop?" i was there two nights ago, they were still raking w/out a flop.

and fyi, The Borgata has a pretty lengthy thread on this forum. parx is okay if you don't mind smoke, but lets not get carried away...it's not The Borgata.
