When Parx expands it will only get better, IMO. I'm not sure they can get the ultra-high limit games like Borgata does, but I can see 5/10 NLHE, and 30/60 LHE. This Saturday there were lists of interest for 10/25 NL & 30/60 O8. So, who knows what might happen after the expansion ?

I also won't knock Borgata because it's an awesome room, but I can see Parx being a very close competitor. Parx will be light years better than any other AC room for sure.

I could honestly see AC with only 3-4 poker rooms in the future (Borg, Taj, Harrah's and Caesar's). The player pool is shrinking and it's being spread too thin with all the new competing rooms (PA & DE rooms).

I love the room, everything's amazing - unfortunately I'm not going to play having to walk to/from my car in a parking lot. (and I also think a few rich fish might agree)
Is is me or am i the only one that ever had to walk from the borgota parking lot to the poker room? Some people must have driven their car into the casino past the horsebook and right to the poker room...maybe even right to their table when called. My guess is the walk is no longer from the surface lot of borgota to poker room then from the lot at Parx to the poker room. The lot is well lit and if anything seems safer to me because you do not have the shrubs on the walkway that people can hide behind.

My guess is that due to the size of the parx lot their is a perception of it being a longer walk? No rational person is not going to play because of the parking situation.

I will probally get mugged next time I go now that I have made the above statements....of course the way I am going if I get mugged on the way out their wont be much left for the muggers.

And, as plenty of folks have mentioned in this thread, the security guards will be happy to escort you to your car if you feel unsafe.
Funny you mention that. I was thinking the EXACT same thing last night, as I was walking to my car.

However, the walk is still very long and will it suck horribly when it's ball-freezing cold and/or raining. Perhaps, they could turn the first floor into a VIP garage

its a shame that The state drags its nuts in the sand with the process of approving the poker room expansion and further table games. and its a deterrent to wanna come play on a night like tonight knowing you'll likely have only to wait obscene amounts of time just to get a seat.

its wasted tax revenue for the govt as well.

Parx also is likely losing quite a bit of $$$ in that they do not have convenient table games to entice poker players waiting on seats.

Yet I do not doubt that things will work themselves out.

Another great day at Parx poker room..Got there at Noon. Name #10 on list. New table opened and was folding my 6-3cc by 12:15. Waitresses great, dealers plenty fine, floor even better. Played til 3:15 and left doubled up.Room full when I left. I would have stayed but my stack needed to be tripled for me to stay till 7:15. I know.."wtf?" some of you say. Well ,some of you people know im in the process of getting my license and car back. Therefore I'm on SEPTA time.3:15 is my 1st window...7:15 is my last window.

Having said that , I just have a few quick things before the perc (for my sore tooth) kicks in:

Have you people not been reading my posts that debunk the " walking through the parking lot is taking your life in your hands" theory? I know people are ignoring me here, but its getting a little ridiculous imo.

Look to the right as your walking towrds the building . You will see another parking lot which is not much further than the distance of the hndcp spaces from the front door.Usually pretty empty.

**While playing my 3rd session today, table closest to bar along the left mini wall, I asked a few people if they could smell smoke.Wow, to my suprise, NOPE!!.

***Hey Borgata molls, Parx poker room is gonna give Borgatas room serious competition. It's a fact, stop making ....never mind...It's not going to be too much longer before the skeptics (having only read your silly fabrications of negative issues) find out how solid, professionally run and enjoyable this room really is.

The comps not getting to your card is a little annoying I'll have to say. I just went to the front desk and a floor person was more than happy to check the computer and instantly add what was due.. Just an example of the Parx staff being there for us.

TOP NOTCH ROOM. PROUD TO BE A PLAYER HERE. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ARI/PARX STAFF.

See you all on friday!! Happy turkey day and don't eat too much!!

I don't understand the rational (is there one?) for this law either. Why not let the individual casinos decide how many poker tables they want to have - regardless of what other games are being offered? Why put an, what seems to me at any rate, totally artificial limit on the number of poker tables?

Anybody know what the thinking was behind this?

Thanks.

Lee

I hope you didn't just have them dump all of your comp points onto your card, unless you were planning to use them right away. If I'm not mistaken, they will erase off your card in 24hrs.

The state makes money when the casino makes money. Casino doesnt make as much money on poker as it does other games. State says - we want most money.

Im just throwing this out - its an educated guess.

Just got back from my first trip to Parx and thought I'd give a report. I arrived tonight at about 10:40 pm. Room was PACKED. Lots of Regulars from Borgata and Taj. I put my name on the lists for 1-2, 2-5, 4-8 limit, 8-16 limit and 15-30. I was seated at 8-16 about 11:20 (first I was called for - 15 was one table and miles long, no limit my name didn't move on either - I heard about 12:15 am for 1-2, never for 2-5). I ended up playing 8-16 all night which is fine anyway, because I prefer limit.

Observations:

- 8-16 had great action; love the clean and new $2 chips, though some dealers struggled more than others (most dealers were decent). Great action and huge pots most of the night. Friendly players. The $5 time charge is reasonable for the amount of action.
- I like the system they use for filling seats, and I like that they come over to where you're seated to see if you want another game when its called (15-30 for example), I like the volume on the PA (you can hear it, but not blaring).
-Good temperature, seats are comfortable. The tables are on the small side, but not terrible. Can be a squeeze though, but it's ok.
-Chip runners are reasonably fast; I think cash ($100 bills) should play while you wait, but maybe against PA rules.
-I didn't smell a whiff of smoke - non-issue for me. The parking lot was well-lit and fine; long walk, but no sketchy people hanging out. I'm used to the walk from my years of going to the racetrack when I lived nearby.
-Kind of sedated atmosphere in the room, but it's nice - good place to play cards. I think table games in the facility will bring some energy. This place will be great when it expands. I wish I lived nearby - I'd play everday or close to it.

About what time has the 15/30 started the past three Saturdays? I'm looking to roll out there next weekend or the one after and don't want to be stuck waiting on the list.

As someone who got used to playing the Bellagio 15/30 the past few years (and I still tear up thinking about the game), I... need my 15/30. The Borgata 10/20 makes me want to jab my eye out with a fork. I think I can only play 20/40+ there now.

I should hope not.I'll be there tomorrow, I'll check that out.I read somewhere here that the comps do not stay on card for more than 30 days as well. I could be mistaken , but I did ask floor about this and he said it wasn't the case.Thank you for the heads up 29.

BTW.. 20/40 was on the board yesterday, I didn't pay attention if it was an interest list or a wait list. My eyes aren't so good.

This type of rationale is brought to you by the same people who feel the absolute need to control the sale of liquor in this Commonwealth. PA is still very much rooted in Puritanical thinking, where vice is considered a "sin".

Tolerance has increased, but make no mistake - uncontrolled growth will never be permitted.

This "control of gaming" goes back to the conditions that were established for granting licenses.

Key word = control.

Happy Turkey Day!

Went to parx during the week late afternoon some observations
1) room == new so nothing to complain about
2) main desk -2 cute girls were there when i checked in efficient personable pleasant
3) calls for games were clear loud enough to hear and it seemed the floor was working hard to fill open seats
4) chip cage no issue bought in efficient effective
5) table all new big cup holder
6) chips - played 1/2 the blue 2 dollar chips are apita the color blends in with the other blue in the green chips plus it adds one more denomination to 1/2 didnt like it and from the talk at the table no one seemed to rave about having them in play
7)dealers - from ok to just poor. One guy spend more time bsing with the regulars then dealing only to make a series of mistakes. I would refer a dealer with no personality wh is efficient then some chatty kathy who you get 10 hands a down from
8) cocktail service was very timely and she was smoking hot +EV
9)overall impressed with the room not a great time saver for me vs AC but a nice change of pace
talk around the table as about a ratio of table games to poker tables hence the delay in more poker tables
