Philly is a mile south down the boulevard. Bensalem is a suburb of Northeast Philly.

I'm actually considering driving up from York since Hollywood Casino never spreads Omaha. What time do you need to get there on a weekday to make sure you don't end up on a waitlist? It spreads weekdays too right?

Heard something today. 3 friends of mine were playing friday ( all of which are non smokers and smelled no smoke. Not to beat a dead horse or anything ). They engaged in conversation about future tournaments. The people they were talking to said there will be no tournaments until late next year. The reason they say is because the PGC wants 5% of tourney fees to go to the state and parx only wants to give 3%....Say it aint so Sam!!!

I know it's only hearsay and one shouldn't give credit to rumors. This is why I'm asking hear if any1 has heard this.

Like I said, it seems to go everyday. I don't play much during the week, in the afternoons. The earliest I'd most likely ever arrive would be around 5PM, during the week. Every time I have been there, however, the game was going.

I'd hate to speculate, but it may seem that if you can get there by 3-5PM, the game would be going and the list might not be that long. I don't know for sure what time it starts.

You can always call and ask if the game is going, then request to be put on the list. You'll have to arrive before they call your name or you will get scrubbed. Plan accordingly

Hi Jonathon,

We plan on spreading tournaments just after the 1st of the year. Keep posted.

The game is spread everyday, it seems as if it will continue to grow as we get 2 games on the weekends. Its nice to see omaha 8 spread, it is my favorite game

river call isn't that bad imo. i do understand that someone betting pot on all 3 streets is probably not going to be super balanced since betting pot on those boards is weird and looks strong. but i don't think his call is bad. if he folds a set that means his calling range on the river is 98 and nothing else, that's super exploitable and you have to assume shippedface makes this play with blockers. i'd be barreling off with blockers here 100% and i'm sure the guy who called probably thought the same thing. not saying he should call, i'm just saying i don't think his call is terrible.

just to clear things up.

preflop: utg raised to $5 blind. bunch of callers. i made it $25 from the sb with 8899 which is standard. 5 people call raise.

flop: 5 6 7 two hearts. i lead for $75 into $150. guy flats. everyone else folds.

turn: k of clubs. i pot and he calls all in. he doesnt pair board on river.

Great 15/30 game tonight, but game breaks at 1:30am on a Saturday night!?

No luck at all getting a 30/60 going or even bumping the 15/30 to 20/40. Wouldn't mind too much if the 15/30 at least ran healthily. "Hello AC Expressway" for me unfortunately.

Maybe some promotion to help attract more 15/30 and up limit players would work. Fingers crossed that once Parx opens more tables the games will be healthier.

Thanks for correcting the action, I thought he was all in on river. He still lost over $200 on the hand.

I don't think guy with set of 5's thought about anything other then, "I has a set, Cawl!!"
Not to turn this into a strategy thread but I think 4-5 people saw the flop. Now his 3 bet range from SB could be relatively wide, but once he bets 60% of pot into at least 3 callers on a 567 two heart board. That is a really strong bet. Worst leading range here is Nut flush draw and overpair (which i don't think he does). Not saying it's always the straight at all, just it's mostly made hands and big combo draws. I would be shocked if he was leading here with a naked over pair on such a wet board into at least 3 players.

Bottom either slightly ahead or pretty far behind. His call wasn't necessarily the worst. But i will say calling is the worst of his three options, if you are not going to fold turn might as well get it on flop. Strong arguments could be made for raising or folding but they are both better than call.

I don't think bumping to 20-40 is a good idea. Keep it steady at 15... Parx is only place on east coast that spreads it and we risk losing players if it becomes just another 20 game.

Ari:

Another 2 cents on Parx:

I've played there a few times now and am thrilled to have a room 35 minutes away vs the 1 hour 40 to get to the Borgata.

With regard to cigarette smoke - my experience is very much about where you sit. When I was first seated at the backend of a 2-5 table near the bar a it was very much like being in a smoking room - not just a small background but a very direct smell as if someone was smoking at the table. I changed tables towards the front and there was absolutely no problem. Hopefully when the room expands in December the tables nearest the bar will be the last ones they fill.

With regard to call ahead service - I'm thrilled that Ari employs it but it could easily be more convenient. I called ahead about 35 minutes before I arrived for what was expected to be a 1 hour wait and because the list moved faster than expected I missed out when I arrived. A better system that i have experienced at other rooms is that your name stays on the list (with the indicated call-in time) for a fixed period - say 1 to 2 hours. When you arrive you check in with the desk to indicate you have arrived and the name is now "active". Properly planned you can essentially be "first up" when you arrive. This also avoids the desk needing to call out names for those that haven't arrived.

Ari - I'd love if you changed the 2-5 to a time game even if you have to charge $6 vs $5 per 1/2 hour as in AC. As a serious amateur I don't like having to tighten my game knowing that playing looser will increase the rake I play. If you keep it as a rake game I'd also ask you consider going 5% to max $5 rather than 10%. The 10% significantly impacts the EV of raise preflop take it down with a bet on the flop play.

Thanks for working to establish a well run room and taking suggestions seriously.

This is what makes you and your team awesome, Ari.

I might come out for a few hours today. My brother wants to see my new poker home so I'll be bringing him along.

Ari please leave the rake alone. I'd prefer if the rake nits play less hands.
We need massage broads.
No flop no drop is a great policy
Any chance you make 2-5 300/1000?

A few orbits before that the guy folded suited aces pf rather than put it in cause he didn't want to "gamble" since he had been "running bad" in blackjack earlier. Just a horrible player, but great for the game. LOL PLOaments.

Finally made it into the Parx poker room for more than just a look around! Called from SugarHouse around 9:30 to get my name on the 4-8 LHE and 1-2 NLHE lists and was told 48 names on 4-8 and 107 on 1-2...EEK!!

I had some slot dollars to use so headed into the main casino first, then finally over to East around 10:30. I was still 12 or so down on the 4-8 list and my name was nowhere near even appearing yet on the 1-2 list. They were running 2 4-8 tables I finally got a seat on one a little after 11.

I was thinking (hoping) the game would not play as the typical 2-4 game in AC, but it did not take me long to realize it was nothing more than a higher stakes 2-4 game. I remained at the table though waiting for my name to be called for 1-2 but during the wait watched my stack bleed away to river suck-out after suck-out. I then changed to the "if you can't beat them, join them" mentality, won my money back and left with a small profit.

I would really like to move from NLHE (typically play 1-2 or 2-5) to LHE. I guess my next trip in I'll sit at the 8-16 game; I hope that will give me a better LHE experience.

Not to come off like that guy, but I think you have this backwards. You very very very much want it to be like 2/4, this is the most profitable situation. I strongly advise you read Ed Miller - Small Stakes Hold'Em a few times over.
