And, yes - in PA the casino's are making an extra $1 in rake. The gas stations also charge more for fuel here, than in NJ, too. It is what it is and it's one of the things that will most likely NOT change, as long as people are lining up to get into PA casinos.
Not necessarily true if you play at Harrah's properties. Since all cash Hold 'em players get paid, if there is no missed blind button, one's chances of getting a room share are significant. About $4,000 a year, over the last 3 years, for me. I was only at the table once - at Harrah's - and got a table share. Most of the money has been from room shares (Bally's, mostly, since they were doing this long before the 4-room combining a couple of months ago.)
That extra dollar a pot does add up, over a year's time. So do the higher gas prices. But less milage, so that may be a wash or even a savings. Depends on where one lives, how many miles, how often one travels, etc.
But, Parx is closer and toll-free to get to. And $5 per hand is the going rate in Pa. Wish that they would lower it to $4, but that probably will not happen.
*REALLY* wish that the bar was no smoking!! Maybe that will change!
