Maybe - but, how much of that "back to the players" money have you contributed to vs. your return. It's all just money down the hole to 99.99999% of the players. As I said, if you don't run the rake up to $4+ - you keep the BBJ $1 in your stack.

And, yes - in PA the casino's are making an extra $1 in rake. The gas stations also charge more for fuel here, than in NJ, too. It is what it is and it's one of the things that will most likely NOT change, as long as people are lining up to get into PA casinos.

VJP - Were you paid to post that? Do you work for Borgata? Only explanations that I can think of for your making that post....

Not necessarily true if you play at Harrah's properties. Since all cash Hold 'em players get paid, if there is no missed blind button, one's chances of getting a room share are significant. About $4,000 a year, over the last 3 years, for me. I was only at the table once - at Harrah's - and got a table share. Most of the money has been from room shares (Bally's, mostly, since they were doing this long before the 4-room combining a couple of months ago.)

That extra dollar a pot does add up, over a year's time. So do the higher gas prices. But less milage, so that may be a wash or even a savings. Depends on where one lives, how many miles, how often one travels, etc.

But, Parx is closer and toll-free to get to. And $5 per hand is the going rate in Pa. Wish that they would lower it to $4, but that probably will not happen.

*REALLY* wish that the bar was no smoking!! Maybe that will change!

I haven't been there to comment on smoke issues but that is something that they could definitely change if enough of you voice your opinion. As for the rake it will prob never change...just hope they don't add a bad beat jackpot and make it $6. I'm fine giving up the one millionth of a cent of EV i get for every dollar dropped just to not hear about bad bead jackpot

This is my observation and opnion of Parx Poker.

I live 50 minutes from Parx, 1hour and 40 minutes to AC.

I do like the Parx poker room. its well run, new, and comfortable. The waitresses are HOT.

I don't like the parking, I can see I am going to hate this parking in the Winters.

The total atmosphere of this poker room is no match to AC. Its so quite in there... AC definetely have better vibe. multi casinos and drunken girls with hot skirts...

So, would I save my self 50 minutes each way and play at Parx or should I just go to AC and have a blast?

When I play poker, I like to play Friday night till late and all day on Saturday. For me, I will play at both places. But, I think I will still go to AC more often.

I will play at Parx just for poker fix. But, when I want to party and hangout with playing poker, I will still go to AC.

Just my honest opnion...

Let me know if you can get this running, I'm curious and I'd definitely be interested in 6max games. I would think that they would not establish a 6max table when there's enough demand to fill all tables otherwise, but I'd like to see them try 6max after the expansion, if nothing else.

Luckily, since they rake the 2/5 rather than take a time charge, you might pretty frequently have about 4 people sitting out and taking breaks from the game... voila, it's 6max!

For anyone trying to do a 6max thing I would highly advise waiting till after Dec 20th when they go up to 45 tables. An early success would do so much more for a future game I think

I was thinking the same. It's blatantly obvious that post had an agenda.

Not sure about the bigger NL games - I don't play them. And, there is no BBJ. So, if you don't max out on the rake, you get to keep that $1.
Just FYI, the 8/16 HE at Parx is now time charged $5/half instead of raked.

I'm sure y'all wanted another long rambling post about the smoking issue:

To me, the faint smell of smoke that I experience in the room is unpleasant. It isn't a dealbreaker, but it is unpleasant. But as others have expressed, it's amazing in this day and age that smoking would be permitted indoors, when the harmful effects of second hand smoke (SHS) have been proven. If you want to commit slow suicide, by all means do it, but don't take me with you. Heck, I probably partake in too much wine, but that doesn't affect y'all.

As others have said, it's absurd to pronounce with certainty that there is no SHS present by the poker tables. The harmful gases in SHS are not only present when you can SEE a cloud of smoke--some of these gases are invisible. Without some testing, I have no idea how you can be certain that there is no SHS.

Now I do agree that the ventilation system is quite good, and at most there is likely only a very small amount of SHS. The problem I see is that I have a strong desire to spend an absurd number of hours at Parx, and I would think that the management would want to encourage this desire in me and others. And I'm no scientist, but I'd imagine that spending who knows how many hours per week steadily inhaling a very slight amount of SHS would be seriously unhealthy. I'd like to think I could be a regular at Parx without losing years off my life.

I wanted to express that I really like the idea brought up by IFSATG, of enclosing the bar area with a glass wall. But I really don't know how financially feasible this is. The room would still look as spacious, smokers would have a room in close proximity for smoking, and the smoke entering the poker room would be VERY minimal. Perhaps this would be prohibitively expensive, but I would think that in the long term Parx will lose a ton of business if the current smoke situation remains.
