I think to expect a almost regular 15/30 game is not unreasonable as is some type of 08 be it 4-8 or better yet 8-16. NL will be the bulk of the games as is in most rooms.People drive longer to the Borg or Taj because they know that they can find a 20/40 game always running. The mid limit game may need some time to grow.

Ari also told me that he really hopes (expects?) that the limit mixed games, along with PLO will take off. This guy just gets it, IMO. The world does not revolve around NL. Finally, a cardroom manager that can see that people want to play more than NL.
Just to piggyback on this;

IMHO, Great move by not spreading 2/4 and (or) 3/6. Nuff' said on that topic.

I expect 15/30 to gain a foothold, and also 30/60. Not so sure about 8/16, maybe just on Saturdays ?

I wouldn't be surprised to see 4/8 O8 & 7CS, and 1/2 PLO regularly.
Any bigger stud or omaha games might be tough.

As far as mixed games go, a 4/8 game might be better to start out with, but I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to get people for 8/16 HOSE or OE on a Saturday.

I also realize that the most popular poker games played are 1/2 & 2/5 NLHE.
Look at how long the waitlists for these two games were.
However, I also realize that no poker room could survive by spreading just these games only.

Sorry about the constant check ins. How was the action at about 1pm today? Are there still ridiculous wait lists?

1pm there were still a bunch of tables open and it hadn't got real busy yet - 3pm much busier

8/16 didn't get called for either o8 or hold em (started both lists at around 10am and left at 530pm), the 4/8 o8 game was half kill to 6/12, rockfest but all blue chips are fun i guess

the 1/2 PLO game was awesome in the 90 minutes i was able to sit in it, definitely will be back for that in the future

real nice room, cant wait til it expands, the smoke really isn't an issue - some rookie dealers, one in particular was brutal in hold em and practically unbearable in O8 and PLO but to be expected with a new room - overall after four days or so much better than harrahs was in the first few days and its not even close - ari did a real good job with the room and they really have their act together

and the waitresses, giggity

How bad do you wanna play when you go to a poker room, see 175 people waiting for a seat, then proceed to walk to the desk and put your name on the list .... when exactly are you thinking you might get a seat ?

Jus sayin

Be there Monday night and hope to not see any crazy wait lists .....

2/5 NL : Good player could easily average $300-$600 per session ( $900-$3k weekly)imo. I'd be happy w/ middle of that weekly range!!

Are these #'s no good at the "micro" live level? Fact is..you can't be a weekend warrior when it comes to poker imo. Unless your a super deep pocket and play in the nose bleeds. Even then I'm not sure how profitable you could be in the long run limiting yourself to 1-2 sessions weekly. Volume = profit.

I've never really played higher than 10/20 LHE. I will have to say, you higher LHE players need not to fret. As soon as the room gets going and the NY folks catch wind that its top notch , I wouldn't doubt seeing 40/80 and higher running regularly. So just relax a little, sit short more often , and remember the saying.."build it and they will come" After all, theres always online 15/30+ running.

They actually cleared through the list pretty fast, by 1am it was open seating at 1-2. On a weekend either show up at 1pm or 1am.

I went to play 2-5 NL or 1-2 PLO, but there were 70 people on the 2-5 list and no PLO game when I walked in at 10 to midnight, so I played O8 for awhile, cause it was open seating, and a little bit of 5-10 since there were only 3 on the list. By 1245 they had worked though the whole 2-5 list and had open seating. I saw way softer play on the 5-10 table I sat than any of the 2-5 tables I played at, wish I was rolled for 5-10!

Does the poker room have on HBO and Showtime Boxing tonight( Sat 11-6)?
Zab Judah is on HBO and Juan Ma is on Showtime.

Does anyone know if the regular casino has these fights on (Jax or Chickies)? And how about next week, Pacquaio vs Margarito? Thanks

The poker room at Parx Casino is finally open. The room officially opened at 10 am on Wednesday November 3, with the "grand" opening on Friday November 5.

The poker room is actually located in "Parx East," which is the racetrack building adjacent to the one year old main casino (Parx East is actually west of the casino). Situated on the second floor, the room currently has 24 tables spreading hold em, Omaha, and stud. There is a bar in the back of the room where smoking is permitted, and a lounge adjacent to the poker room. Flat screen TVs are prominent throughout the room, some displaying game availability and interest lists, others showing TV shows, sports, or horse racing.

Taking a left off the escalator, there is a desk at the entrance to the room where players can get comp cards and sign up for games. The men's room is to the left of the desk as you face into the poker room. I'm sure there is a ladies' room as well, but I don't know where it is. The multi-window cage is to the right of the desk as you face in. The tables are fairly well spaced, allowing for easy movement throughout the room for even the most portly players.

The expertise of the dealers ranges from some that are new at dealing any card game to Vegas and AC dinosaurs who can chop a multi-quartered Omaha pot as easy as breathing. With some of the newer dealers it is predictably tedious as they stare at the cards in a multi-way showdown trying to confirm the best hand, or fumble through the chip stack as they figure out the chop minus the rake. On the other hand, some of the new dealers are sharp and on the ball. The floor people seem to be sharp and organized, and I have spotted some familiar faces from AC, suggesting some experience at that level.

You cannot buy chips at the table, and there are 2-3 chip "runners" who wheel around strong boxes and will either sell you chips or change chip denominations for you (at the 4/8 Omaha table I was playing we agreed to only use $2 chips [yes, they have $2 chips-light blue ones] and the chip runner changed out my stack of reds for a stack of blues). The chip runners are not quick, and since you can't buy chips at the table, rebuys mean that you usually have to sit out a hand or two (or more). At the one table I played, we all agreed to hold back our blinds rather than have someone sit out. This practice resulted in the dealer getting a floor person to get the chips, essentially reducing the floor person to a runner. While this was effective, it's a little awkward.

The cocktail servers I saw were all drop dead gorgeous. They were fairly speedy in filling orders, but when the room was really busy sometimes the wait was longer. By the way, only soft drinks (soda, pop), coffee, and water (as in a cup of water) is complementary - all other beverages (including bottled water) need to be paid for at time of ordering. That kinda sucks, considering that at most casinos I've played the drinks are comped, even for poker players. I hear that the slot players feeding nickels into machines get comped drinks. Paying for bottled water when you're paying a 5% rake? C'mon.

I was at Parx on Wednesday and Friday afternoon. The place was packed, and on Friday the wait list for 1/2 NLHE was always over 20 with all tables running games.

Compared to the other Eastern Pennsylvania casinos where I've played poker (Harrah's Chester, Mount Airy, and Sands Bethlehem), Parx isn't too bad. The Mount Airy poker room is basically an alcove adjacent to a bank of slot machines where 11 tables are jammed in. The Sands is even worse, basically a collection of poker tables surrounded by a fence, beyond which is the general gaming floor. Harrahs Chester is a very similar set up to Parx - a separate room from the general gaming area overlooking the race track.

In my opinion, Parx or Harrahs Chester is the place to play. There are no tournaments yet (you have to drive to Delaware or AC), but otherwise for the folks in the Philadelphia area, the games are not bad and it saves you the drive.

Parx is located in Bensalem PA just off either the Philadelphia interchange of the PA turnpike or the Street Road exit of Route 1 or I-95.

Played today from 3:00 to 6:00 and really enjoyed the room. Everything seems to be going smoothly. I won't restate what everyone else is saying, but pretty what you've heard as far as good and bad is pretty accurate in my opinion. I'll definitely be returning.

I did hear one floor mention that their final goal is to expand to 100 tables, after going to 44 and then 60-some.

Ari, I walked around looking for you but didn't see you. Just want to congratulate you on opening a very nice poker room. Well done.

Can't you get sued for publishing someones pic in public w/ out their permission? I could be wrong.

You guys who want a higher LHE game - I'm sure most of you know this but apparently some don't...Belittling people with "that's a good excuse" remarks when they're talking about why they don't want to play higher is probably not the smartest thing to do. It is very impressive that you're willing to play 60-120 because of your large penis though, congratulations.

As far as pictures, I think if we chop off their heads when we take the photos we might be safe. You know, just show us these shorts they're supposedly wearing. Give us a taste.
