Quote of the night:

"I....I cannot miss the rake. Because I got to keep my job."
- A nervous-wrecked 1-2 PLO dealer around 11:45 PM who took awhile to chop a two-way split pot and forgot to take out the five dollar rake. He later used players' tips as rake money.

= = =

Other than that: nice place, but bad comps, bad luck with SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW, NERVOUS dealers that come by, uneasy with poker players who schools the dealers, and I lost $40. Squeezed into a game 9:30 and stayed till the game broke at 12:45 AM. In the mean time, going to some well-known card room tonight in AC.

I actually felt bad for that dealer who said that (I was in the four seat). He obviously was very nervous, didn't have too much experience dealing PLO and had two other players chirping in his ear how to split up the pot. So, I don't blame him for taking his time. Unfortunately, he forgot to take the rake and so I pitched him a buck to help make it straight.

I think we have to remember that it was the first night and some of the dealers get a little overwhelmed at having to deal 3 different games, so the least we can do is cut them some slack, which I think the PLO players did pretty well.

Anyways, PARX is definitely better than Chester that's for sure and if a regular PLO game can run there, I'll make it up there.

I don't know what the table number was, but it was one of the tables as far away from the bar as possible, close to the wall with the TV's that had MSNBC and CNBC on. It wasn't far from the room entrance podium either.

Definitely, I had that expectation. But despite the jitters, launch night was smooth.

I was in seat 1. I was card dead for most of the night and most of my winning action came in the final 50 minutes of my session. Stole quick pots and two showdowns. One was from a newbie who thought pocket A's are good. (Must be a Hold'em leftover!) And the other was nailing 10's full of Q's on the river.

i thought the dealers were mostly good while at the $1/2 plo game (i was in seat 10 and left around 1115). obv its there first and we should def cut them some slack. i will be there on most nights to play plo.
one thing they need to improve on though is the bravo system. there would be 2 or 3 open seats and 6 people on the waiting list. but im sure that will all be smoothed out given time.

I got there around same 7 PM last night, but I only signed up for PLO and got seated within 15 minutes. The 1-2 NL list was 30 deep when I got there. All in all, you might be looking at 30-45 minutes for a 1-2 table. If I were you, I would sign up for a few different tables if you don't mind playing hi/lo, limit, PLO or stud. That way you aren't chillin' at the Circle bar getting fumigated.

My TR post above comes off as a little too negative, since I listed lots of minor issues, but the lack of major issues is a big deal and highly commendable, so I just wanted to reiterate that I am very happy with the room and do not want to seem too complainy.

Also, I wanted to add to the "wish list" that it would be great to have live game and waitlist reports available online like some other rooms have done recently.

I am told this is on the way, and IT is working on it now.

I think the 2/5 200 BB's has the most potential to be the cash cow.
I think you have no understanding of live poker.

They never charged rake in Ac preflop.

If they're really gonna run 2/4 after the expansion, that sucks. Hopefully Ari can chime in with the official word on that. I really hope the minimum game spread is 4/8.

You should check it out the next time it's running. It's a really cool game to watch. I was an acquaintance of someone in the game so there wasn't any issue with me sweating it for about 10-15 mins (during which I saw my acquaintance win a $14.5k pot ), but in my experience (especially with the 20/40 & 40/80 LHE games) it's OK for people to watch those games from a reasonable distance as long as you're not distracting anyone.

Tell the people who want 2/4 to drive to Chester. Seriously.

Unless they can get big games going like the Borgota it will be a chump change room.

Most, if not all, poker rooms in AC have an official policy of taking rake preflop. But most of the time the dealers don't actually take it unless the pot is big. For example, I would say that blind steals at 2/5 get raked $1 approximately 10% of the time....it just depends on which dealer you have.

Wow. That's awful. I guess this was a foreign concept to me because I'm used to Borgata's $5 time charge at 2/5 NL. I'm sorry, but winning a $27 pot with no flop, getting raked $2 and then having to tip the dealer $1 is pretty steep if you're trying to make money grinding things out.

Love to see an 8/16 2-way or HOSE game.
I'd even settle for 4/8 HOSE.

I don't think it's unreasonable not to tip if there is no flop.

Really? I always thought it was expected unless you chopped the blinds, or the pot was just the blinds.
