Are you required to have a testing period for the PCGB before the room goes live? If so will that occur before Nov. 3, or is Nov. 3 the testing day?

Is there convenient public transportation to PARX from NYC? I usually take the bus to AC, and I'm wondering what's available to PARX.

great to hear that 11/3 is still on target. I swore off Harrahs a few weeks and said I was going to wait till Parx opens as it is only 15 minutes from my house. Seems as if this will be tier 1 room and hopefully will become THE room in PA and on the east coast. I hope Parx is trying to be better than the Borgata and not just better then Harrahs their closest competitor.

You can take NJ Transit from NY Penn Station to Trenton, then take SEPTA from Trenton to Eddington Station, which is on Street Road 2.5 miles east of Parx, right where the on/off-ramps are to I-95.

The problem though is that I don't see any public bus service, SEPTA or otherwise, that will take you the final 2.5 miles from the train station to Parx. In which case, you'd have to call a cab. The train fare isn't cheap either...it's $15.50 one way on NJ Transit, plus at least $4 one way on SEPTA, plus whatever a cab would be.

There are buses from Center City Philadelphia to Parx, so if you take a train or bus to Philly, you may be able to make it work. I know nothing about how they work, but here is one thing I found on the Septa site (Philly's train system).

The route you linked to doesn't cut through Center City Philadelphia, which is where any NYC-PHL bus would drop you off.

OK I did find a way to get there without involving a cab, but it's a pain in the ass to say the least:

1a) Take a Greyhound to the PHL terminal, which is 10th and Filbert, across the street from Market East station

1b) Take a Megabus to PHL terminal, which is an outside stop across the street from 30th Street Station

2a) Get on the Market-Frankford "Elevated" Line (Blue Line) from Market East and take that to the Frankford Transportation Center

2b) Same thing except you get on at 30th Street Station, which is further away from Frankford T.C. than Market East

3) Take Route 50 bus from Frankford T.C. to Parx. Bus runs twice an hour.

Now as you can see this is very time-consuming and in the end I doubt this saves anything over just paying a cab for the 2.5 mile journey from Eddington train station to Parx.

Sucks that Sugarhouse doesn't have poker because they run a free shuttle from near the Greyhound station to their casino.

Both Amtrak and Septa stop at 30th street station, so you could easily take a train from NYC rather than the greyhound. Any of these options will end up taking you past Parx and into Philly, though, so they won't be shorter, even if they are more convenient.

Either way, though, your biggest problem is going to be the "last mile". The twice an hour bus from FTC to Parx doesn't seem like that bad an option, and if you just miss it you can always hop the cab instead.

Going to 30th Street Station is a waste of time though because the line that runs from Trenton to 30th is the same line that passes through the Eddington station, which is on Street Road 2.5 miles east of Parx.

This is why we needed Foxwoods to stay at the Gallery location. Damn you purveyors of pre-existing Chinatown gambling!

We'll be lucky if Foxwoods gets built, period. Although Harrah's has now agreed to pump more money in it to try to get it built by 2012. The plan is to put it where it was originally on the South Philly waterfront. But even if it does open it's slated to be considerably smaller than what was first envisioned. I kinda doubt poker is going to be a major priority there.

VH fan got it right, that's the best route. The Market-Frankford line makes stops at 30th, 15th, 13th, 11th, 8th, 5th, and 2nd on Market and all stops are relatively safe. Just make sure you are getting the eastbound train to frankford, not westbound.

I stopped by Parx this morning. Got to say hello to a number of friends from Atlantic City. Dealers and floor both, who are now working at Parx.

The room is coming along nicely, and should be ready. Ari told me that they are still planning on opening November 3, but isn't sure what the exact hour will be. I expect him to be posting that info here in a couple of days.

I think that it's going to be a great poker room. Roomy, food and drink right there, restrooms right there, more tv screens than I wanted to count - all that's needed is some last minute finishing up work and for the room to open! :-)

That Parx place will be a smash I'm sure, games to please the crowds.and only a short spin from Philly,Trenton and points west. Would someone put out the lights and draw up the bridge as they leave Frantic city I would hate to see wasted money lighting up those bankrupt sand fleas.

I'm looking forward to the 3rd, it can not come faster. A 2+2 meet up or event would be great.

Does anyone know how much the comps will be yet and will alcohol be free to active players.

TY. What will be the collection p/hhr on the 15/30 or 20/40 LHE? Assuming the game successfully runs on a normal basis. Others in this forum as well as myself are optimistic.

So if the rake turns out to be $5, that's the same as AC($4+$1) provided you never win the BBJ.

I will be there opening night around 7 with a friend looking to get a LHE game going of 15/30 and up. Hopefully we can get regular mid-stakes LHE games going throughout the week, or at least Thursday through Sunday.

I asked a while back but never got an answer, will Parx be offering comps for hours played?

I should be there on opening Thursday, looking to play 30/60 or at least 15/30. Let's do it!

This + 100

Hope they are prepared for the rush, I will be looking forward to some reviews and everyone should keep in mind that it's gonna be nuts for the first few weeks. and everyone should be patient with the floor....

If this room is what it looks like it's gonna be then I should be divorced in a month

Seriously. Between call of duty black ops coming out and parx opening a poker room 15 minutes from me both in the same week, it doesn't look good for my wife.

The 3rd is a Wednesday. I am willing to play short to get the games going, I hope the rest of the LHE troops are willing to do this for the sake of game creation too.

Yeah the only thing that will keep me away from Parx is if the crowds are overbearing. I'm hopeful though that if I get there at 10 AM on a Saturday, I won't have a problem.

The issue was raised earlier in this thread--is it better to open now with the 24 tables or wait another couple of months when the expansion is complete. The more I think about it, I feel it's the right decision to just get the room going. Much like how sometimes you need to start a game shorthanded just to get it going. They won't lose any players in the long run just because it's crowded in the first few weeks and the game selection won't be as varied. After all, it's not a tourist destination casino.

I can't wait for the room to finally open. The last few weeks have been a real crawl!

I should be divorced within a week of this room opening. In fact I already called divorce attorney.
That is all.
