Ask Ari.

With over 16,000 views on the PARX thread alone, I'm quite sure we'll have poker in the fall. My absolute favorite time of the year.

Thanks to my pool heater, I'll be swimming in October, and wearing a Freddy Krueger mask at the tables.

that is all

As most of you have stated, the regulations are very similar to AC. I greatly appreciate everyones input on game spread and limits, as we make final decisions I will be able answer more questions. We intend on submitting for poker sometime in the near future.

Thank you again for all of your interest in poker at parx, we will strive to be the premiere poker room in PA.

Hi Ari! Glad to see that you're still following things here, and able to post as well! Definitely looking forward to the room opening in October (or whenever the opening date ends up being. Hopefully even sooner?)

And for any who are still doubters - yes, this is the Ari who's resume has been quoted from. He is the one in charge of the Parx poker room.

The blue unicorns are only for the grand opening. After that, the more common white unicorns will be the ones distributing drinks.

Looks like the Tables are up at Chester. More than likely will be opening the tables soon.

Will be at Parx again tomorrow at around 8:30 blowing some cash.

Update: They are now saying in the "This week at parx" video that "Poker is just around the corner launching in September."

Hopefully they'll get some better mass transit options there. My wife and I only have one car because we live in the city and the hassle of parking one car is bad enough, and if I don't have the car the only way to get there from downtown Phila is to take the El to the end of the line and then a 45 minute bus ride. It's actually slightly easier to get to AC from downtown Phila via public transit than it is to get to Phila Park.

Parx has a pretty huge parking lot. It's the suburbs parking is not an issue here.

He's saying him & wife aren't getting 2 cars because downtown parking sucks.

At the risk of being berated for bringing reality into the discussion again, tournaments have not been authorized for PA.

Did anyone else notice that Ari said "we will strive to be the premier poker room in PA?" I remember hearing rumors of a 100 table poker room, on par with the likes of The Borgata. Now it's down to 35 tables, with hopes to be a little better than Chester, PA.

The 100 table thing was rumor from way before he was associated with the casino. Who knows who made the statement originally.

Any info on this? It would be pretty nice to have some tournaments so close as opposed to traveling to AC for tournaments. Very excited either way.

Right, we already pay through the nose to park one car and I don't like leaving her alone without the car so I usually just take the train to AC unless we're going together. The train is only 90 minutes and $10, which is probably about the same timewise and the same costwise as gas and tolls, but without the stress of driving and traffic etc. To get to Phila Park via Septa takes almost as long as it would take to get to AC on NJ Transit.

Someone on one of the PA threads mention PGCB was supposed to make a ruling last week. I'm not sure if that is true but there is no mention of this on the http://www.pgcb.state.pa.us web site. If you browse the regulations you will occasionally find tournaments MENTIONED but no regulations on authorizing or running tournaments.

Correct. Oddly, though, Meadows asked for tournament tables and got them, so it's not clear anyone really knows what's going on with tournaments.

Really? How do we know this? Do you have a link?

It would be pretty sick to get some kind of big tournament series (ie. WPT NAPT of WSOP Circuit) to come through here in the not too distant future. Here's to hoping,

I heard they already came through and saw that the room was not open. As they left the parting comment was "That's sick".

Same PGCB website you've been citing. Tourney tables are in their application and presentation to the Board. The Board's press release is silent as to the tourney tables, but the Meadows press releases and news reports at the time mentioned them as well. More current press releases from this week mention a "26-table" poker room, which would be the 20 tables plus the 6 tourney tables.

Again, it's not completely certain, and could have just been an oversight by the Board or the Meadows or bad wording. That's why I say it's unclear.

I'm sure at some point in time the PGCB will make itself known on tournaments but I guess at this point they're probably under the gun to get the test days pulled off and the table games started.

That came from a Philly paper article in late fall. Obviously things have changed. I think a 35 table room would be spectacular. And if the demand is there, of course they'll expand. Fall PARX poker is coming. Damn I'm excited. This room should rock. In the meantime I'll be playing in Chester. Only a 45 minute ride. But I'd love the 15 minute PARX commute. Especially if they put in a nice hotel. Things are looking good.

that is all

Spoke to a security guard near the roped-off blackjack tables at Parx yesterday who told me they are building a "pretty big poker room" in the old building that would open in mid October.

He seemed confident in his information, but he wasn't speaking officially, of course.
