General
NLHE games are 9-handed.
There is no betting line; the racetrack line is a courtesy line.
UTG straddles are allowed in NLHE. Double straddles are considered blind raises, and therefore do not get last action preflop if the UTG straddler calls.
Most dealers seem to allow players in the hand to talk about the hand when heads up, but no cards may be revealed. Revealing cards during a hand will render the hand ineligible for a bad beat jackpot.
1/3 and 2/5 games do not allow running it twice or rabbit hunting.

Rake
10% to $5 max + $1 promo.
No flop, no drop.
Half rake when there are 5 players or less, although it’s unclear if this is supposed to be automatic or if you have to ask for it to get it, as different staff members have provided different answers. If you’re 5-handed, ask the dealer and he or she will oblige.

Bad Beat Jackpot
Both hole cards must play for both players.
For quads, the hand must be pocket pair (as opposed to trips on the board, the fourth from the player’s hand, and the kicker from the player’s hand).
Split is 40%/20%/40% for loser/winner/table share divided for anyone dealt into the jackpot hand.

Points
Comps are earned at $1/hr for poker play.

Why am I not seeing accurate points listed under the My Profile page of the online portal?
Point accrual is active, however, the system isn’t fully integrated yet. The onsite Red Card desk is your best bet for obtaining an accurate report of your point total.

PokerAtlas
PokerAtlas can be used to register online for all games except for 1/3 NL. The EBH Poker Room made the decision not to open the online waitlist for this game, however, there hasn’t been a waitlist for 1/3 games since the opening few weeks of EBH.

Tournaments
The EBH staff has stated that tournaments will start in mid-September.

Food/drink
Tableside food service from the dedicated Poker Grill is available from 10 A.M. until 3 A.M.

I'm hoping that someone who is at encore today can ask in the room what their tourney plans are and post an update here.


I looked on poker atlas and definitely a lot of cash games running today at 2:30 p.m. I can't find anything about a tournament schedule at the encore website in poker at the currently shows no information on tournaments. TIA

I see that they have a couple 8-16 Hold'em games running. Nice. That means they have $2 chips and hopefully we can get a 8-16 mix.

I drove from Boston to Everett at 9:20am and got there by 9:45am and drove right into the main parking lot with zero traffic. They had people directing traffic at every turn, dozens of Everett cops and Encore parking employees. Parking is free for the first few days (maybe weeks). All the gates were up and you didn't have to get a ticket. I parked on the first level right next to the elevator.

I had a few friends who parked at the offsite lot which has 600 spots vs 3000 for the main lot and there is a quick shuttle bus because that lot is always free and they thought there would be a parking charge today. It is about 1.5 miles down the road 3rd exit off of the rotary onto Main St. They got there at 9am and there were less than 20 cars. They had to shuttle over and stand in the hot blazing sun with today's humidity only to be allowed a staggered entrance. I think they were doing 50 people at a time so no one gets trampled. There were a lot of issues with handicap people and family's with strollers after my friends got in around 10:40am. They did offer free bottles of water and breakfast sandwiches to anyone in line.

A guy was just returning to his car after walking all the way to the line and said you can't bring any backpacks or large bags into the casino so he went back to his car. I had a backpack too so I just took what I needed out of it. I simply asked the security guy by the elevator if we can just wait here until 10:01am and go up the elevators and he said yes. 10:01am we go up the elevator and there we were right next to the Dunkin and the security guy let us in at 10:03am saying it was all clear.

I immediately walked to the poker room and there were already about 30 people in there getting Red Cards, at the cashier, etc... I recognized the manager of the poker room from Macau and I spoke with him about safe deposit boxes and they are NOT available yet due to the biometric system that it uses not fully functioning yet but he expects it to be ready soon and he said we simply just have to keep checking in at the cashiers. At that time someone I knew got out of the line at the cashier and said the same thing.

Things got moving fast and quickly and it was quite nice. Yes, lots of games, lot of big games, and lots of varieties of game but most importantly a lot of people walking around and through the poker room. It is very nice that it overlooks the main floor and also very nice that it is directly across from the high limit gaming area.

When 80/160 Stud and two tables of 10/20 NLHE was running in the VIP Poker area they didn't like that I was just talking to people I knew and asked if I wanted a seat and if not I would have to probably go back into the main area, etc... seems a little over the top since I was talking to players in the games and not just scouting or wasting time but whatever.

I just left around 3:30pm and it was getting very packed. All the $25 pit tables were pretty busy from BlackJack to Pai Gow to Ultimate Texas Hold'em to Let It Ride to Mini-Bacarrat, etc... some tables were $50. High limit area everything was $100 or $200 minimum.

When I went back to my car there were hundreds of spots on level 1 not being used. As I was exiting the main entrance there were zero cars coming from the right which is how I get back over to Cambridge/Memorial Drive but looking left there was bumper to bumper traffic as far as I can see for all 3 lanes but i didn't understand where the bottleneck was since they were letting people into the main parking lot unless these people were trying to go to Valet or the main entrance where they can get a bellhop to help them with luggage and they can also walk right in to the right to the hotel check-in area.

All the restaurants were not busy except for Red 8 which is the most overpriced casual Asian food I've ever seen. I have been to Red 8 in Vegas and the quality is very good but $28.88 for a noodle dish that costs $10 most places is significant and $13.88 for a wonton/hot and sour soup is steep. Oyster Bar, Sushi place, Italian place, buffet, etc... were all very quiet even during peak lunch hours.

I think this is a huge winner guys. Poker is going to be great here.

6pm on opening day there are 34 tables of 1-3 and 14 tables of 2-5 and 6 tables of 5-10, 5 tables of 3-6 LHE, and 4 tables of 2-2 PLO is awesome.

Thanks for the report. From everything I've heard/seen it seems like the traffic was not bad at all. I'm leaning towards just driving and parking in the garage when I try to go if it seems to stay this way. I'm surprised opening day wasn't a giant mess, seems like they did a good job of anticipating and preparing.
