Any tips on good places to play live in Paris? Looking for 2-5 or 5-5 NL.

The only place I've heard of is the Avaition Club, which comes with an appalling 100 euro membership fee and 24 euro/hour time charge for 5-5.

Are there any other places to play that are a little... better?

If not, even with the 100 euro + 24 euro/hour, could it still be worth it?

Aviation Club de France is open 7/7 and 24/24. Time charge is 25 € per hour at the 5/5 NL. 2/2 NL and mostly 2/4 NL are also spread there. Service is terrible.

Cercle Gaillon is the sister poker room of ACF, located very close, 200 € membership, upscale service. Games spread are mostly 2/4 mixed NL/PLO. Traffic is low.

Cercle Cadet is quite a different place : 20 € membership, many cheap 2/2 NL games, few 2/4 NL and higher. Overcrowded, but nice atmosphere.

Cercle Central and Cercle Clichy are both located in areas you don't want to be at night, unless you seriously consider to commit suicide.

Cercle Haussmann is expected to reopen at the end of the year, IMHO best poker room in Paris. Classy, nice service, soft games (2/4 NL and higher).

Cercle Wagram just closed for a looooong time. Forget it.

+1. Even if the Cercle Clichy is located in the north of paris, which is considered a little dangerous at night, iy could be an option. This "cercle" (cards room) have the same profil as Cadet (low membership fee)

You can find more information (internet site of the room, tournaments scheduldes, ...) on one of the most important french poker site => http://www.clubpoker.net/casinos-cercles

There is also a casino located on the nothern suburb (Enghein-les-Bains). But it's not an option since the rake is 4% uncapped () in the french casino.

Bon séjour à Paris !

So is Cercel Cadet the best spot to play live poker in Paris? Following considerations

1. Safe. Do not want to go to a dangerous neighbrhood
2. Low entry fees and rake
3. Central if possible
4. "Soft" games at 1/2; 2/4 level

Where exactly is it? I Googled, but it is all in French

Cercle Cadet is located at 14, rue Cadet - 75009 Paris.
Location is very convenient, centre of Paris, quite safe.
Opens at 2 pm, until dawn.

I haven't been to Vegas in a while, but when I was there they did indeed have a little poker room in the Paris. Mostly just 1-2NL though, if not entirely. Maybe a 3-6 Limit game too. The poker room was tucked away a bit though, I preferred Bally's next door because the poker room was open-air and easily visible to drunk tourists.

But no, no 2-5 or 5-5 @ the Paris, AFAIK. Maybe Bellagio?

I think that OP is looking for information about poker rooms in Paris, which (unfortunately) is not located in Vegas, but is the capital city of France.

is there any kind of dresscode in these cercles? i am from germany, so i am normally used to a dresscode. but it changed a lot there in the last years, so casino in berlin have no dresscode anymore for example.

and which is the best cercles one for 2/4 up to 5/10? don't wanna pay 100euro for a membership first ^^

Is there rake? Or just a time fee at these places? Or both?!

unless you are going to play small or just one day pay the entry fee. the games are good and the fee isnt prohibitive.
do the aviation if you want to win bigger.

dress well. leather shoes, collared shirt and sport coat and you get in and get better action.
understand that some places will want to hold your passport while you are there until they get to know you.

It's rake for small stakes, hourly for high stakes.

The fee is an annual fee (between 20 to 100 euros depending of the 'cercle' for the calendar year).

I know that the 'cercle Cadet' and 'Cercle Clichy' are offerring the fee since it's the end of the year. The dress code in those two cercles are less strict than ACF.

ACF rake ( 50=NL200 , 100=NL400, 250=NL1000) :

Cadet rake (not sure if that evolved since I played there) :
"All pots without flop or not reaching € 14 are not taxed. More than 14 €, dealers collect € 2, and 2% for every € 100 in the pot. The rake is limited to € 24, regardless of the final size of the pot."

Enjoy your trip in Paris

Do you know if they are very strict on this fee?
I'll be arriving in Mid December and staying til about March, If I wanted to play before the new year do you think they would waive the fee until Jan?

I'm thinking more of the AVF here as it's €100.

I know that ACF will be the more strict about the fee. But you can ask on this forum (clubpoker, B&M section, ACF thread) what the ACF-reg think, if they offert the fee for december.

If you play High stakes ACF is the best choice (they only have one 2/2, 4-5 2/4, 2-3 5/5 (uncapped) running on average, open 24/24 7/7). If you play low stakes there more 2/2 and 2/4 at "Cercle Cadet" (here the thread for Cadet-reg) or "Cercle Clichy montmartre" (here the thread).

Il te reste toujours l'option d'aller jouer à Cadet en décembre et de payer les 100 euros à l'ACF en janvier (Do you speak French ?)

I've heard nothing but good things about Cercle Cadet :

- Reasonnable membership and rake compared to other rooms
- Lowest stakes is 2-2 and max stakes 100-200 (Benyamine comes often)
- They deal any variant of poker if at least 6 players are willing to play it.
- Good traffic
- No dress code

Bad news for poker in Paris. The "Cercle Clichy Montmartre" is closed since the 31 of July (State autorization has not benn renewed). Maybe it's only temporary. I'll keep you in touch.

Rumors are floating around that Cadet will be closing in October or November. They do not expect their gambling license to be renewed. Heard this from a dealer there.

This really sucks, the room is a nice place, well run etc.

Cadet was overcrowded yesterday and will be in the future, since the "Cercle Clichy Montmartre" is closed, all the 1/2 players from Paris come there.

I waited 1h15 from 6:45pm to 8:00pm to play in 1/2.

The dealer said that all the tables were opened, which is unusual during summer time.

I'm actually thinking about going tonight to play some 2/2 or 2/4. I'm dreading the wait.

Wonder if there is anyway to call ahead to get your name on the list...

Ok so I went to Cadet last night. 15minutes wait for a 2/2, then about 20minutes later I was able to move to a 2/4.

I confirm the staff is friendly & pro.

Didn't try to call ahead, but doubt it would work.

How long ago did aviation club go to a membership fee? I played there about 7 years ago and it was free. I wonder if it's yearly or a one time thing? I don't recall a dress code either.

Hi Proto,
fee are mandatory by order of the french government since around 3 years.

The fee at Aviation Club de France is 150 euros for civil year. Means from 1 January to 31 December.

At Cercle Cadet, fee is only 30 euros as in Cercle Clichy Montmartre. But Cercle Clichy Montmartre has to closed for months this summer and now the choice of games is really limited.

Regards
