As an update poker is alive and well at the Elysees club. 15 euro to get in. 2 tables of 5/10 PLO with plenty of action. If there’s a dress code it’s not heavily enforced as far as I can tell.

Didn’t play any NLHE but a few tables going. Rake at PLO is 2% capped at 75, so effectively uncapped.

Did Club Montmarte open in the old Cercle Clichy Montmarte casino? Is poker alive and well there? Will be there in October. Thanks.

Quick update on the Paris poker scene :

Club Montmartre did open on August 23rd at the former Cercle Clichy Montmartre location. Games : 2/4 NL, 5/5 NL and 5/5 PLO.

http://cm-clubmontmartre.fr/

Club Circus is about to open today, September 9th. Probably the same games as Club Montmartre.

https://www.clubcircus.fr/

Club Barriere will open Friday, September 13rd, at former Aviation Club location. 104, Champs Elysee. Mostly 5/5 and above.

https://www.casinosbarriere.com/fr/l...s-elysees.html

All clubs will take a rake of 4 % no cap (75€ cap at 5/10) and 2% no cap for PLO games. Be ready for massive waiting lists.

Great. Thanks for the update! Can't wait until our trip. Love poker in Paris (except for the rake!).

We played at Club Montmartre. Waited in line for 45 minutes the first night (Sunday), but showed up Monday at about 6:50 (doors open at 7) and got seats. Played 2/4 NLHE both nights and actually got a 2/4 PLO game going Sunday night. FWIW, women get in free; men are 10 euros per night or I think 50 euros for the year.

Lots of regulars and players were pretty terrible, but they kept hitting, so what can you do?

Very limited food options and there is no longer a "high limit" area with free drinks/food. The place has changed quite a bit, actually. We really enjoyed it, though. Only wish the rake was at least capped at something!

Will be back next October.

Probably not. 4% uncapped is brutal. I had one idiot shove $300 on the river when it was obvious we were chopping! At least he spoke English so I could explain the errors of his ways to him

As an update. I went to Club Montmartre tonight and it was closed. The one on the Clichy street. It looked like they were no longer in the business. But it could be that they were closed for just tonight, not sure.

You probably went to the wrong door. The Club Montmartre entrance is at 86, rue de Clichy while it used to be at 84, rue de Clichy.

People usually line up outside at 6 pm while doors open at 7 pm.

There is no such thing as "one night closing", the club is open 7 days a week.

You may want to follow them on Facebook & Twitter to get most recent updates...

I looked for it throughly through whole street but you’re right, i might have missed it. I won’t have the chance to try again anytime soon since i don’t have any more free nights in Paris. Another time.

Hi Guys, i would like to know how is the Paris Poker scene in 2022. I'm planning to go to Paris for a month to play poker. i would play mostly 2-5 and 5-10 NHL.
Airbnb is very expensive and expenses are quite high in Paris so I'm not sure if it would be profitable to play there.
would u recommend Paris as a Poker destination?
Thank you

The rake at NLH is 4% capped at 75€ (2% at PLO) since they are now Clubs by law (not Cercles like before).

I don't think it's a good place to go grind with that rake and high cost of living.

This 75€ cap is only valid for 5/10 games and above. All games below (1/2, 2/4 and 5/5) are uncapped.

Given this rake and the cost of living, I doubt Paris is a viable option for a serious grind.
