As far as the short stack 5/10 goes, its just a game that you have to experience because its hard to explain. The variance is insane but its actually a very profitable game if you can adjust properly. Obviously the strategy is much different than a standard 100BB+ game. You wont find any actual good 5/10 level players in the game and if players stay long enough to start having multiple players getting deep then get ready for some fun with guys who couldnt beat a 1/2 game playing 80-100+BBs deep in a 5-10 game.
The variance is huge, however, as Mike suggests, if you adjust to the mostly maniacal gamblers that sit. Better at night (for sure). I usually avoid it unless there are some of the really bad regs that like to play it - then I will sit (on a Friday/Sat night).

ive only been there between 5pm and 3am (somewhat about then, not exact) every day for the last 3-4 weeks. and its so easy to win $1000 plus a week in $1-2. if i just had the bankroll for $2-5 or $5-10, i could probably easily clear $300 a day for $9k a month and never have to worry about money again. thats how too much VBJ ruins your life, prevents u from much better opportunities.

still trying to discover who is mike starr, and ive not found him yet.

if you can win easily in the small game just take shots at the bigger ones. if you can beat them after a few tries you will get over the hump and can go from there. just drop back down and build a buy in or two then shoot again till you make it.

Ask this question after restaurants/bars reopen with social distancing requirements and there is no surge in new cases. It won't be until after that when you'll see 5-6 players sitting at a poker table again. You'll probably see them go to every other table as well. Best guess would be end of June for shorthanded games and back to full once a vaccine or a treatment is available probably sometime in 2021.

I have to say - I disagree with your stance. In everything I have heard/read recently, I believe Desantis is going to begin opening things up in May. While I agree shorthanded tables would be the start, I don't see anything waiting until they have a vaccine....but, that's my opinion. I bet they open by 5/15/20.

shouldnt the room in Jacksonville open first since there was much less of the virus in that area?

if you saw the pics of all the people on the beach there close together after they opened it. it will remain to be seen if there is a big up tick in the area in a month.

Maybe different shift, different time different day or different something but what I saw was plenty of people but at least groups were reasonably spaced. Salt water and a sunny hot day where little around to touch seems like a better than most places to be.

You are probably looking at this opening after Phase 3 but one guide to use is that the rooms outside of Palm Beach and Dade County will be opening before PBKC. I’d wait for a place like Daytona Beach and Fort Myers dog tracks to open before getting too excited.

"New Poker Room procedures–these procedures may be amended:

Games will be played with a designated number of players to be determined by management
The waiting area will not be utilized. Players will be seated upon arrival and games will commence when the designated number of players is achieved
Players will not be granted table transfers. The table you are seated will be your table for the duration of the day
Players will be required to purchase their initial and buy ins at the cage
Dealers will not rotate from table to table. Dealers will be assigned to one table only
Chips will be isolated to a specific table. Once chips have been introduced to a game, they can only exit in the following manners: Drop Boxes, Dealer tip boxes, Cashed out at the cashier
Once chips are removed from play, they will not be recirculated until after they are sanitized
Paper cards will be utilized and discarded at regular intervals
Eating food at the tables will be prohibited
Drinks will be served with tabletop cup holders; cup holders will be sanitized prior to being issued to a new customer
Hand sanitizer will be used in lieu of a dealer button. When a player has the sanitizer, they are encouraged to use it
Dealers will sanitize their hands after arriving at the table
All players will be required to sanitize their hands upon initially or subsequently arriving at the table"

This is a pretty solid set of procedures. I will be curious to see how this plays out.

Reading more about Game Containment. It's a tough time to want to be around people, but it would be really nice to pad my stack again.

Just got home from PBKC. The first and only other time I went was early 2018. I don't remember a BUT BB, but they have one now (currently it's a SB due to 6 max).

I arrived at 5:20pm and was 3rd on the waiting list. I thought that meant the place would be packed as the evening wore on. Nope. Sat down at 5:30pm by 8:30pm I was UTG 4-handed with 3 tight passives when I left. It just wasn't going to be profitable (for me) paying $4 per orbit.

The biggest negative is that no matter how short handed the table, it's either stay and play or go home. No transferring to another table .

I spent my last 1/2 hour playing 5-handed. I was really surprised that the place wasn't busier on a Saturday Night. Maybe it's not well known that The Kennel Poker Room is open for business. IDK because two of the players drove up from Broward County to play.

I hope it gets better quickly, I don't want to go back to a "real" job.

I encountered the same thing, nitty, tight table down to 4 players constantly, stayed for 3 hrs and left.

florida has good hospitals and plenty of ventilators. best place to go out and play cards.

but the ground water table is high there so not the best place to get buried.

Are you projecting no vaccine before 2023?

You Realize mumps vaccine was created in a very different era. We are very likely to have a vaccine rolling out by the end of this year. In fact likel6 to have multiple world wide oming out late this year. No promise but if we don’t have at least one effective vaccine by next summer, we won’t have one in four years.

it takes so long for any vaccine or new drug to get to the people because the approving authority makes it so that the new treatment has almost no bad effects even if more die waiting for it than if approved quickly. the downside of them out weighs the upside if it works. thats the political aspect of it.

with this pandemic the political side is being pushed aside somewhat so a vaccine can get approved without exhaustive tests. along with all the world also trying to develop one as well so there is also a race to get it as the money profit is also tied to the first.

Thanks for the tr.

Can you cash out and leave the room for thirty minutes or one hour then come back to a different table?

Is it normally a lot slower in May because snowbirds have gone home?

I made a remark about leaving for an hour and coming back. The dealer said that if I was recognized I wouldn't be allowed back in.
