Precisely.

I am a reg there and you never know what to wear as the AC is either way too low or way too high in half the room.

The Isle is my favorite room, but living in northern palm beach county makes that a 50 min ride versus 20 mins, but the real reason is the action there....I have had $2,500+ wins at $1/$2 several times. The rake sucks, no comps, depressing atmosphere. They do have a lot of excellent dealers there though.

Trip report - was there on Friday for the afternoon of live poker action.

The A/C is repaired - the high limit game was running - but as usual - it was PLO8ob. Not the most popular game for high stakes players. I asked if they would make the game just PLO - they said no. They like the split game.

so i had to go play the 2-5 game (the next highest game running) on good old table 22. the players wish they would move the table. It is near the cage - which helps for the players to make rebuys - but - it is in the middle of the isle by the cage - so it has a lot of foot traffic around it - which is a big distraction. i wish they would open the first 2/5 table elsewhere.

Boy, the action was normal, lots a raising with marginal hands. I played poorly - played like a nit - i got it all in pre with AA and tripled up - then got it in with KK pre and doubled up. But NLH is so boring. It took 1 and 1/2 hours, then i cashed out. played a total of 4 hands. the other 2 hands - i had TT and AKs and folded on the flop. left with just under 5 buy ins.

So - for you 1/2 NLH players - you can easily move up to 2/5. Don't be afraid, just take a seat for an hour or so - you will see how easy it is. be cautions - it is much slower - and the players complain more and talk about how they are great and know exactly how to play the hand - but only after the hand has ended and they see the cards. Not all the players but some.

I guess that is true - for most games - the higher the stakes - the more people tend to complain and the slower they play.

I wanted to provide some hand histories - but the hands played themselves.
The only interesting one was the KK hand - my stack was 282 BB - i was UTG - raised 10BB, the button reraised (who had me covered) - made it 60BB - so - rather than call and have 120bb in the pot with 220 bb behind - i might as well see the entire board and put him to the test - so i go all in. He thinks for like 4 minutes and 30 seconds - yes I timed him - i usually do and i record all my hands as i play. (why so long? - he must have thought before he raised that I might reraise - and what he would do if that happened - well in this instance he did not - which makes this an easy table. So he tanked - he started with about 400BB. i had just shown AA 5 hands earlier. Anyway - he called - the board ran out - no Ace no Jack - i showed KK - he spoke to himself for 15 seconds, mentioned i was a luck box, how dare I sit down on his table - that I should go play the high limt LPO8 game where i belong - after 20 seconds - i asked the dealer if the player was going contest the pot or fold the hand.

As normal - the player (we all know) slammed his cards on the table (on an angle causing them to bounce up and reveal his hand. He then proceeded to tell the dealer how upset he was that the dealer allowed his hand to be revealed - instead of putting them in the muck. Welcome to the Kennel club

The poker room floor, poker table tops, cup holders could use a good cleaning, comps would be nice as well - but we all know that will never happen.

The dealers were great - Cynthia - who seats the players is great - staff was great. I would recommend that dealers wear nice dress shirts - that button - rather than the themed t-shirts you have them wear. I think it appears more professional.

Forgot to mention, he showed Jack Jack, that’s why I mention no ace or Jack on the board.

be very weary of the cashout cage

double and triple check your cashout

got shorted twice in a row
one time they just eyeballed my chips in the rack without counting and tried to pay me

i have seen that trick a few times. i always have my chips counted before i go to the cage. and make them say what they are paying me if they havent before or as they grab the money.

I was here last weekend as my business trip overlapped the weekend. The games have slowed down considerably unless you run into that one outlier. I transferred a couple times over the course of 4 days and none of the games were special at all.

Really? Because everyone here at 2+2 thinks the games in S. Florida are the softest anywhere. That's all I hear all the time.

I just left Vegas and L.A. and the games there are as soft as anywhere else. I'm in Reno right now and Ive never seen such horrifically bad deep stack play as Ive seen at the Peppermill uncapped 3/5 game.

They still are the softest around. The kennel games were soft they just weren't "OMG there are 3 guys in my game who will all leave stuck 2k soft" like I have experienced many times in the past. Small sample maybe or maybe at some point people smarten up. Or maybe a combination of both.

So which is it?

The games are "still the softest around" or "none of the games were special at all"?

You specifically came here and posted to say the games are not special at all, but now youre saying they are the softest games around. Its kind of hard to take you seriously now.

Ill say this. PBKC has the softest games in S. Florida....and by a very large margin.

Not special by PBKC standards is what I meant. Sorry I wasn't clear.

The Poker room is the only one in Palm Beach in one of the wealthiest Counties in the USA. So go figure why the place is disgusting!! I will never return to this dump it has to be the worst run room in all of South Florida! Reminds me of playing in the basement in Brooklyn in the 70's. The owners haven't spent a dime on renovating this sh^thole since inception and they treat their players like garbage. AVOID this place drive the extra 35-40 minute South to Seminole Coconut Creek, The Isles Pompano or the Hard Rock!

I've never played at PBKC, but I've played all over S. FL (Tampa, Miami, Bonita Springs, etc.). I've also played a handful of times in Vegas (not too much...maybe 15 hours total?).

Based on my super small sample, Vegas was definitely softer than S. FL card rooms.

Rumor I heard from a staff member there is that the entire facility will be demolished within about 18 months.

They plan to rebuild a new facility on the same land minus dog track to support race simulcasting with infrastructure to support (future) legal sports betting. They will also rebuild a large modern poker room, and are acutely aware that Hollywood is their competition.

The pending demolition is why almost no serious $$ is being reinvested into the current facility.

Again, that is rumor only, as far as I know. I'm not excusing anyone for anything.

I guess it doesn’t hurt to ask the next time someone is there

I'd bet on a total rebuild as dog racing goes away. The grandstands are then archaic, and renovating anything related to them would be a money burn. Naples/Ft.Myers is presenting same idea for the future.

Re: discussion on game softness, S.Florida vs Nevada- this discussion iscalendar dependent As one who livers on the West Coast, is in LV 6X a year, Reno 4X a year, but spends February and March in South Florida, I can attest that the poker is vastly differenty in SFla from Xmas to May. Come on, you all know it, and know why.
I've been there in October and November, and poker in SF is a different animal.
As a comparison, Jacksonville poker quality is pretty stable all year round. Since there is less of a tourist variant in January through March. Same with Oxford Downs- play and quality is the same more often; although my sample size is small.

The anticipation is growing - I have started to see our wonderful "visitors" showing up more and more - the games are so much better starting now until about the end of April.

I think that is unlikely. Last I heard, the land was all sold to Palm Beach airport. Its worth 10s of millions.

I did hear they are building a new poker room, but on a different site. Of course this is rumor also. I dont know anyone who knows anything 100%, but it wouldnt make sense to knock the building down and rebuild in the same spot. It doesnt make sense to have a poker room on land that's so valuable. Not too mention the amount of money they would lose over the time it takes to build a new building. It seems to be it would make the most sense to build a new poker room before moving out of this one.

I can tell you all the rumors that I've started turned out to be false

Thank you to those of you ITT that accurately represent the place where I work. We try to remain realistic on our strengths and weaknesses.

We love the game of poker here at PBKC and want to provide the best experience we can to all our patrons. We understand you can't please everyone. Still, if you have a strong opinion about our operation our door is always open. You can visit us, message me on here (I try to check fairly frequently), or call us at (561) 683-2222 ext 244.

Really though, I just wanted to say thank you for this discussion.
