Thank you for finally admitting that not everyone likes the button blind, and the fact that they are considering changing it is a great thing. Frankly, I am tired of driving an hour to the HR or Isles from Jupiter to play cards, but until the button blind is gone, I will continue to do that.

You are welcome.

We will have a decision shortly.

Take care.

Played another 3 sessions over the weekend, and 2 things that are EASY FIXES are still endlessly grating on my nerves:

1) Let us buy the button!!! What possible reason is there to not allow someone who missed their BB post the big+small from the SB position? It's just an inconvenience to the players to not allow it.

2) Coffee/tea/soda is free. MAKE BOTTLED WATER FREE!!! Every time I get a water and I'm charged $1.75 I want to puke. Getting extra money raked off me from the no-flop-drop and button blind at 1/2, without getting free water, seriously pisses me off.

I mean, if you can get players to pay it, more power to you, but I'm just sayin' the other rooms seem to get by just fine without it.
Thank you St. Joe for those kind words. Your input with respect to tournaments means a lot. Feel free to come over and say hi to me when you are at the PBKC.

Is there any way that a blind structure can be available on line for tournament NL ?

I prefer to select the tournaments I play in based on their skill factors vs luck, and evaluating a tournament by its structure: starting chips, blinds, time of each blind level, hands played per round, and dealer competence. The more skill available, the better the level of play, and better strategies can be implemented.

Thanks,
typicalnobody

Thanks for you input Typicalnobody, based on your desire to focus on tournament structures, lenth of blinds and HPR suggests you may want to change your screen name I appreciate your comments and questions. Although all tournament structures we offer are not the same for obvious reasons, we do have several, higher skill based structures that we offer weekly as well as our current monthly $50,000 guaranteed Big Dog event typically offered the last Saturday of the month. Last weeks Big Dog's prize pool came in at $83,500 with $25,000 going to first place. I am working on getting a link on our website that will show the various structures and hope to have it avaliable soon.
Thanks again for your input and I hope to see you at the PBKC soon.
All the best, Joe

It would be convenient and would maybe drive more traffic there if you guys started a twitter to advertise which games are currently running. Obviously an interested individual could just call and ask, but most players are lazy and would rather just check their phone/computer for an update to see if a bigger/more desirable game is running.

I have a soft spot for the kennel club because I have a lot of history there, but I too would like to echo the sentiment that the button blind is atrocious, specifically at the 1/2 level. While the removal of such blind would decrease money for the Rooney family, it would be compensated by the increased traffic from players who would rather play elsewhere than pay the button blind.

On a side note, it's rather humorous that the "high stakes VIP area" is a 5/10 game. Not trying to put down the poker room because right now it's the biggest game going and will prbly change down the road. But when you have people playing 500/1k blinds elsewhere (not in Florida), now THATS high stakes. Again, no disrespect, I just find it funny.

Stopped in the Kennel club today, was driving south on 95 and it started to rain so I figured I will stop play a bit then get on my way, was very impressed with the new entrance, it makes the room seem bigger and it is much brighter now, no longer that closed in feel. The sectioned off high limit area is nice but I do not know if I would be comfortable playing with people watching over my shoulders.
Noah was off so I didn't get to see him to tell him what I thought. Anyway nice job now just get some games other then Hold'em.

Thanks Joe. I have played in a few pbkc events and was impressed with a few things, including your persona, but the level of play left me hoping that there are changes in tournament structure. I did mention previously that the Isles Tuesday Tournament is a solid structure with some very decent players.

Offering something similar, for example, replacing your Friday or Sunday events, would go a long way in gaining a well rounded reputation for tournaments.....and I am still a nobody.

Hi NCPerroyya69, Thanks for your input. In answer to your questions. The Saturday 10,000 unit $100+$20 buy-in event has been averaging about 125 players since bringing it back a couple of weeks ago. This event has been well received overall by players since it inception. The structure is designed for extended play with 1/2 steps for the most part. The structure is as follows: 10,000 units- 30 minute levels. Antes are introduced in level 8
25-50
50-100
75-150
100-200
15 min break
200-400
300-600
400-800
500-1000- 100
10 min break
800-1,600- 200
1,000-2,000-200
1,500-3,000-300
2,000-4,000-500
10 min break
3,000-6,000-500
4,000-8,000- 1,000
5,000-10,000- 1,000
7,000-15,000- 2,000
10 min break
10,000-20,000-2,000
15,000-30,000-3,000
20,000-40,000-5,000
30,000-60,000-5,000
10 min break
50,000-100,000-10,000
75,000-150,000-15,000
100,000-200,000-20,000

With an average of $12,000 in the prize pool, first place has paid in the range of $3,200-$3,500

I hope this helps answer some of your questions. Come say hi when you get a chance.
All the best. Joe

"Sombody" First, thank you for your kind words.
Letting the new Florida limits have time to settle in for July was considered when the July tournaments calendar was released. There will be some exciting events in the near future beginning with our Palm Beach Kennel Club Poker Classic which launches August 22nd. As a player myself, I am always considering, when develpoing tournaments structures, good, competative, fair events with very reasonable play for or daily events and extended play for our bigger weekly and monthly events. As you know, tournaments around Florida and around the country for that matter are are always evolving and changing. Having players like you and some others with constructive comments and suggestions is truly valuable and your input is appreciated. Looking forward to seeing you next time you are at the PBKC.

One year from now, I promise you that 5/10 game will be the highest in Florida, with a vary rare 10/25 game going

Noah, I went in to the PBKC (close to my house) and had to deal with this stupid **** named larry. I was trying to start a 10/25 game with a strong heads up player (he has very good results online) and larry wouldnt reduce the rake. He made sure we paid 9-10$/half hour even though we were attempting to start a high limit game since u guys cant seem to get anything over 5/10.

Zergum,

You have my word this will not happen again. We always reduce the rake when shorthanded. $6 should have been the rate.

My appologies.

Please stop in and see me when you can.

Thanks,

Noah

Why do you reduce the time rake shorthanded? The house makes much less than normal because there is only two players playing, and they're certainly playing 25+ hands in a half hour. $1/hand rake is pretty standard HU which is pretty similar to $10/each/half. Seems pretty nitty to complain about it and to even give in and give the reduction imo
Palm Beach Kennel Club (West Palm Beach, FL) Quote

IMO time rake is time rake, you should pay the same if it is 9 handed or 2. If the players want a reduced rake on a time table just close the game, they will change there minds.

2 days last week, thurs and fri, we had 4/8 OM/8 for about 4 hours each day, but its not what I would call "regular" just yet. We are encouraging the play and I'm sure it will develop from there.

Hey Noah, I had been hearing rumors from reliable sources that you guys were going to be getting a WSOP Circuit event. The schedule came out today and nothing doing.
Just wanted to hear from you on why it didn't happen and if it is a possibility in the future.

I've been playing @ the Hard Rock a bunch since the 1st b/c I've heard nowhere else has any 10/20+.

I see somebody posted in here that a 10/20nl ran on Wed and was supposed to get going again over the weekend. Did the game ever get started on the weekend, has it been running fairly regularly?
