Story told to me and verified by someone else

High hand promo is $400/$400/$800. This period is one of the $400s

Hero (not me) is a 2/5 player but is playing 1/2 today. He has A7. Flop comes AA2. Its checked around. Turn A.

Hero isnt sure of the high hand requirements and asks the dealer whats the minimum amount required in the pot to be eligible for the high hand. Dealer replies "$10." There is $12 in the pot. It checks to Hero who shoves all in. Everyone folds and Hero tables the high hand.

Someone at the table but not even in the hand complains that Hero shouldnt have asked the dealer that question and the floor is called. The floor rules that Hero is disqualified from winning the high hand because he intimidated the other players by asking that question and it couldve been an angle trying to prevent them from betting. WTF? He had the Ace. He demanded to talk to the poker room manager who backed up the floor ruling.

This place is run by idiots.

Hello Floridians,

I'm considering making a trip for the WSOPc next month and was hoping someone might have hotel suggestions? Preferably walking distance but if not is Uber or Lyft active in Palm Beach?

Also, anything else you think I should know or consider?

Also Also, anything non-poker related I should experience while there?

Thanks

The story is at least partially false. There is no minimum for the High Hands at PBKC. They have started to crack down on the verbal shenanigans for the High Hands. Some dealers follow the rules but a lot don't. If a player complains to the floor and it's confirmed that anything was said to influence folds to win the High Hand they will disqualify you.

The room is poorly run. No disagreement there.

Youre saying there is no minimum pot size required for HH at PBKC?

Lyft and Uber are very active. It's Florida. Nobody walks anywhere. PBKC is located across the street from the airport. There are a number of hotels in the area and generally there is a list with rates on the PBKC website.

That is correct. No minimum. There is $10 minimum for the BBJ. It's been that way for as long as I have played there.

It is no secrect that the PBKC is not even close to what it once was, when the WSOPC came to town. Sad to watch this great event be destroyed by the money grabbing, poor service, self-absorbed staff and management of the PBKC.

It's time to move on to the WPT. No more value here, IMO.

I never had a problem at this place. I also disagree with this ridiculous ruling but I understand why. If the 2 players were colluding in the hand one could have been telling the other effectively to get out of the pot because his kicker was bad. Technically an angle shoot.

You have to be incredibly careful at casinos with the high hand. They will make any excuse not to pay it. This goes for every casino I have been too.

Now if this person was a regular they might have not made this ruling. Casinos favor regulars that bring value to the place.

But yea it sucked. Players need to know the rules before they play. I don't talk about high hands, I don't mention high hands during the hand. Someone asks if they want to play or chop I leave it up to them.

As for the douche bag who blew the whistle? What an *******.

What do you mean "his kicker was bad"?! It's three aces on the board - only the one player could have an ace with a kicker.

The whole "can't say anything" thing is rather ridiculous for Florida. The rule and related floor rulings seem to be designed to stop players from letting other players know they have the high hand, thereby either getting enough money in the pot to meet the high hand requirement or preventing a call to a bet when a bigger kicker on the turn or river might counterfeit the player's kicker.

But why does the poker room care if the player is "angle shooting" to win the high hand? In Florida, the money paid out for high hands is player money, not poker room money. It is funded by the jackpot drop. So what if a player asks how much needs to be in the pot to win the high hand, or whether there is enough in the pot?

Sure, there is the general rule about not affecting action. But running a high hand promotion in itself is affecting action, and related table talk about it shouldn't have to fit under the cookie-cutter general rule. There can be instances where there is a player that tries to take advantage of this type of banter, as an angle-shoot. But heck, I'd be happy to have a player at my table who tries to bluff having a high hand. I just might stack him.

I don't make the rules man. I am just trying to interpret what the casino is thinking.

I am not clear why the have the rule that both hole cards must play because this just adds to issues of collusion. This room will have upwards of 50% of it's tables running either 2/2 or 2/4 limit on bonus high hand days. Buy in to a 2/2 game for $20 and hope to hit an $800 high hand. Hit high hand and leave. 75% of the high hands will be hit on the limit tables on these days. All limits are paid the same amount.

This is my spot. Not by choice, just by convenience. All things considered, decent action. the 5/10 : $100-300 bi is great for when i want to degen it up and do a couple flips so i can hit and run aka bingo. Ultimate is the devil's d*ck, every other game plays solid. Wish high hands ran later. Around 5-6 am on weekends it really thins out and there are maybe 3-5 tables running max. Sucks when your table breaks and you draw for a seat and have to get put on the list knowing it will be another 3-4 hrs before people start rolling in again

These games are anything but solid. There are tons of very bad players compared to other local rooms.

Of course I do. I was only commenting on the fact that you said all the games other than the short stack 5/10 were "solid". Those games arent solid. They are soft as hell. Unless you meant something else by "solid"?

The timed rake game is raked on the half hour. We host 5-10 and 10-25 sometimes hold'em/PLO, sometimes single games. The high-limit game host Willie coordinates the games. You can reach him during the day at 561-683-2222 ext 241.

Is this, like, gaslighting? Someone shilling for WPT? PBKC hater? Genuinely curious. The WSOP was as good or better in every event I played(?) Did you play, or did you save up all the gumption collected over a lifetime of lurking 2p2 just to make your 2 and only 2 posts on the site in a room forum to pull off a crappy troll?

All truths be told I did make less $ this year, but I played bad too.

I think the 5/10 $300 max game is bad for the 2/5. Lot of spewers gravitate to that game with all their money.
